My grandmother's maiden name was Edna Elizabeth Schreiber. She married my grandfather Anthony Liguori but I can't seem to find any records on her or her family. The only thing I know about her is that her mother may have been named Emma but they called her "Doll." She has siblings named Margaret (Honey) and Eddie. Her mother remarried someone with the last name Stroup. Does anyone know anything about them?

Schreiber/Schriver in Luzerne Co, PA

My g-grandfather was Frank Schreiber, born in Germany about 1865. He married Ellen VanDool, and had my grandfather, Edmund Jerome, b.10/16/1894, and Frank Jr. and a daughter Theresa. They lived in Luzerne Co. PA, near the Pittston area. Frank changed his name (and religion) to Schriver when he married the divorced VanDool. Edmund Jerome married Helen Tierney (b.8/20/1897) and lived around the Pittston, PA area. He worked in the coal mines there, lost an eye in an accident and died from black lung on 11/21/1947. I would appreciate any and all help to plug some of these gaps. Thanks.
Tom Carroll of Fishkill, NY

Johann Witzke. Grandfather

Does any one have a female Witzke who died at the end of 1921, I believe she was middle aged. I know this is a ridiculously broad question. My grandmother said my grandfather went to his sisters funeral and never came home. She said he died on the way to the funeral. In 1921 they lived in Wenglewski Holendry, about 15 ks from Konin,Poland. I don't know where the sisters funeral was held. There is a photo of Johann on my Ciszewski / Witke family site, if anyone would like to look, and maybe some one will recognise him. I have been researching Johann for about 5 years including checking church records and cemetaries when I was in Poland recently. It's as if he doesn't exist. If any of this sounds familiar please reply. Thanks

Wahl / Katzenellenbogen --> Schreiber?

There's a story on the Schreiber side of my family that the family name was originally Wahl or Vohl, but was changed by a distant ancestor to Schreiber. (There are some sketchy details about why this change was made.) I think I've found documentation for many of the key pieces of the story, but there are still a few things that I'm trying to puzzle out. What I've found seems to connect my family to the Wahl/Katzenellenbogen family documented in "The Unbroken Chain", by Dr. Neal Rosenstein.

I'd be very interested to hear from any other Schreibers whose family name was Wahl or Katzenellenbogen, but was changed to Schreiber. I'd especially like to compare notes about when and why the change was supposedly made.

Anna Schreiber, b. 1868 Austria or Germany

According to her death certificate, Anna (Schreiber) Kobler was born 27 Apr 1868 Germany and died 11 Feb 1916 Logan Co., Colorado; her father was Carl Schreiber also born Germany and mother is unknown.

She is on the 1900 Census in Osborne Twp., Pipestone Co., Minnesota, living with her husband John J. Kobler and their two sons (John W. and William Elmer). It states that she was born June 1868 in Austria, both parents born Austria, and immigrated 1871. I have not been able to find her on the 1880 or 1910 census, nor have I found her father Carl Schreiber.

Any further information would be greatly appreciated.

Eberhardt Schreiber b 1824 Prussia

I am looking for descendants of Eberhardt Schreiber born in the Alsace-Lorraine area of then Prussia May 1824. He was in the civil war and served in the Missouri Infantry. He married a Caroline Meyer a widow with three children in 1864 in Missuori. The children Caroline had with her first husband, Adolph Meyer, were Sophia, Eliza (Lizzie)and Teckla, or Thesla. This name might actually be Clara as family notes indicate that she married a man named John Hart.
Eberhardt and Caroline had Minna Christine,Laura Caroline (census in 1870 shows name as Clara, this is I believe a mistake made by the enumerator, as Clara and Laura are not the same person), Edward and Willum, who died as an infant.Sophia Meyer married a man named Werli and Lisabeth(Eliza, Lizzie) married a man named John Burns. Minna Christine Schreiber married Rolla Rose, in Missouri and Laura Caroline Schreiber married John William Shaffrey.
One of Lizzie Meyer Burns grandaughters contacted my great aunt Delores in St. Louis about the Meyer/Schreiber family tree many years ago, but aunt Delores wasn't interested in genealogy and this letter from Delores has just come to light and she doesn't name who contacted her. I am trying various boards to see if this rings a bell with anyone and hopefully can make contact with some one who has a little more info than I do, thanks.
Georgia Murray
eshasmom@aol.com
SCHREIBERS from Buffalo, N.Y. and Germany

I'm looking for information on my great grandmother's family. Her name was Caroline (Carrie) Schreiber and she married Thomas DICKINSON in Buffalo about 1890. Her parents were Karl Wilhelm Schreiber and Salome RUPP from Eggenstein, Germany. They came to the US about 1870. Carrie had one sister LICETTA, and two brothers ANDREW and CHARLES. Carrie was the only one born in the US.

Any help would be appreciated, as I know very little about any of them, with the exception of Carrie.

Thanks

Leslie in Florida
