Hi, I'm not Denise, sorry. Your family line isn't any of mine that I know of. Finding the Schroder name is very difficult because in Germany, where it originated it is a common as Smith or Jones in the US. My ancesters are from Bein Germany, but can't get pas that.
Good luck in your search.

Re: Colonel John Schroder

I just realized who you are. Denise? Uncle Warren was in the Army and was a full bird Colonel when he retired from what I understand.

That was my Uncle Warren. My father was Frank Russel Schroder. He spent a lot of time prior to the assigment in Europe in different places. He and his wife Harriet used to send us charms for a bracelet that was built over the years.

He had an Aunt, Emma that lived in Vacaville, California. She died around 1959 or 1960. I am sorry I don't remember her last name, but she had a huge home and orchard behind it that they took a large portion of for a school after the war sometime.

He had a son, John Warren Schroder Jr. He went to West Point at one time, and from what I understand was booted out from there and the last time I heard from or of him he was a Captain or Major in the Army. I don't know if he is dead or alive, but he would be about, oh.. maybe 70 by now.

I don't remember much about grandma Rowland. She died when I was a little girl, maybe 10? but it seems to me that we were camping in California, and she was laying on a cot and I am not sure if she fell off and then got sick, or if she was already sick, but it wasn't long after that she was gone.

Please let me know of any other information you might have about the Schroder line. I have never been able to get much farther back than my father. I didn't even know how to get his birth certificate, although I know he was born in Oakland California. Uncle Warren might also have been born there. My father was born in 1899, October 2nd.

I hope this information has helped you on your search, and possibly help me on mine :)

John Schroder & wife, Augusta - Blue Island, Cook, Illinois 1870

I would like any information about and contact with any descendants of John Schroder and his wife, Augusta. They appear in the 1870 Cenus, Calumet, Cook, Illinois. The post office is given as Blue Island.

John and Augusta were born in Mecklenburg and arrived in the U.S. between 1865-1867. Their children were: John born 1854 Mecklenburg, William born 1859 Mecklenburg, Reka born 1863 Mecklenburg, Mena born 1865 Mecklinburg, Charles born 1867 Illinois, Sophia born 1869 Illinois, and Baby born 1870 Illinois.

In the 1880 cenus, Fred Gosewisch, born 1854 Illinois, and his wife, Friederika, born 1862 Mecklenburg, are living in Rich, Cook, Illinois. Their children are Willimine born 1879 Illinois and Fred born 1880 Illinois. Also living in the household are Adam Felzien, born 1862 Illinois and Friederika's sister, Auguste Schroeder born 1871 Illinois. I believe Friederika is the child Reka Schroder from the 1870 census and that her sister Auguste was "Baby" Schroder from the 1870 census. I also believe Adam Felzien was their cousin.

Adam Felzien's parents were Ernst Felzien and Augusta Kortz.
Ernst Felzien and his brother, Fred Felzien were born in Holzendorf, Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Ernst Felzien came to the U.S. about 1858 and his brother Fred may have come about the same time as John Schroder and his wife Augusta. Fred married Sophia Einspahr. Ernst and Fred also settled in the vicinity of Blue Island, Illinois and later moved to Adams County, Nebraska.

Information in the 1870 census about John and Augusta and their first three children matches information found about John Schroeder and Ernst and Fred's sister, Augusta Felzien in the church books from Holzendorf and Badresch, Mecklinburg-Strelitz, Germany.

I am looking for John R. Schroder who lives in Charlestown, WV . I have not been able to contact him at his home because I don't have his exact street address. I have a phone number but I am wondering if it is correct, because no one ever answers the phone. It is supposed to be an unlisted number, but still no answer. Since he has no listed phone number in Charles Town, I have tried contacting someone living in the Charles Town area and he is not listed in their local phone book.
I would appreciate any help, what so ever, in locating him. Thank you.

There are two brothers that came from Hanover, Germany to the USA and Minnesota. One brother spells his name as Schroeder and the other as Schroder. There is a woman named Esther in the family. Where is the esther you are talking about live? Gerald Bailey

I found your query this morning about Walter Cutsinger and Esther Schroder. Since I have access to Ancestry.com I thought it would be easy to find them and provide you with some information. However, to my surprise, I could not locate them there.

So, using Google.com, I found an obituary for their son, Walter. You can go to this site:
http://www.lileyfuneralhomes.com/obituary.asp?ObitsID=65 and find his obit as well as a photo

Even though our last names are similar, I am certain that we are not related. Just trying to help out.

Robert Schroeder
Recently I became aware that the Oregon State Hospital, a mental facility that has been around for about 123 years or so, has been storing a large group of urns holding the ashes of unclaimed bodies. Whenever a patient would die and their family or friends did not claim them, they were burned and put into copper canisters that look like coffee cans, then the urns were labeled and put on labeled shelves in a storage room with the hopes that future generations would eventually find them and claim them. I found one Schroder and four Schroeder family members on the list that I have obtained with the names of all of he people still kept there.
If any of the bellow mentioned are your ancestors or relation, please go to the Oregon State Hospital and claim them in order to finally take them out of the dusty closet and into a proper resting place.

SCHRODER, Emil L. 2G 2-4-1922 49
SCHROEDER, Bertha 2G 5-12-1920 36
SCHROEDER, George 2G 3-4-1917
SCHROEDER, Henry 1G 1-24-1910 51
SCHROEDER, Margaret 2G 6-7-1917 47

note: the 1G,2G and the numbers after the date are, I think, markers that help to locate the people in storage. they were included on the list i obtained.

KY, and Lou looks about age 18, Emma about age 28, and Ada about 22.

I found these three children and their parents in the 1880 census for Louisville. Parents were Herman Schroder, age 49 and a grocer; wife Catharine, 43; with Emma, age 17; Adelade, age 10 and Louis A., age 6.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to this Schroder family.

I really appreciate the help with the obituary, however, I knew their son very well, he is my grandmother's brother and he and my grandmother knew nothing about their mother. My grandmother's surname was Charlotte Esther Cutsinger and she was born is Chicago Heights, IL in 1940. She is still living, but her mother (Esther Viola Schroeder) and her father (Walter Lee Cutsinger) seperated when my grandmother was little and Walter took care of the kids and noone knows what happened to Esther Schroeder after that. It is believed that she is still living, but we have no idea where or what her name is now.

I am looking for information on my Great-Grandmother. All I know is that she was born Esther Viola Schroder in Wisconsin about 1919. She married Walter Lee Cutsinger, and lived in Chicago Heights, Ill. and in St. Louis, MO. I am working on my family tree and cannot go any further without her information. I have no idea what her parents names were, or even if Esther is still living. ANY information would be GREATLY appreciated!

I presume that Mary moved with her father, but I cannot find him or her brother Freddie anywhere. By 1900, Mary Emma had married an Irishman James "Jim" COMERFORD, had had eight births, and from that point forward I pretty much know what happened to Mary Emma & family. Out of about ten births, seven daughters lived to adulthood even though Mary Emma was a single parent after husband Jim deserted her & his kids. She was a washer woman, the sole support of her daughters. She died in 1917 New York, Kings, Brooklyn. Mary Emma had had a harsh father (Fred), and married a harsh man (Jim).

I am looking for the rest of Mary Emma's family -- parents, siblings, and the like. Where do they show up in the 1860 census (assuming they were in the US)? Where do they show up in the 1900 census? Later censuses?

Thanks.

L. J.
I believe we are talking about the same line. Nicholas & Barbara Heintz were my gg grandparents. The info I have on Phillip Schroder came from the newspaper clipping I found. I have some info on Nicholas including a nice photo of his headstone which I could e-mail you if you are interested. I also have one of his brother Peter. Can you tell me anything about Barbara, his wife. I could not locate her in the census. I wonder if she passed on in Luxembourg before Nicholas came to this country. Thanks for the reply.
