Descendants of Otto Schütte
Generation No. 1
1. OTTO1 SCHÃœTTE1 died Bef. 1771.

More About OTTO SCHÃœTTE:

Occupation: (Zimmermann) carpenter

Residence: Rönnen-Schleuse, Hanover, GER

Child of OTTO SCHÃœTTE is:

2. i. BARTHOLD2 SCHÃœTTE, b. Abt. 1744; d. April 28, 1825, Mehedorf, Hannover, GER.

Generation No. 2

2. BARTHOLD2 SCHÜTTE (OTTO1) was born Abt. 1744, and died April 28, 1825 in Mehedorf, Hannover, GER. He married (1) ANNA VON BARGEN November 21, 1771 in Osten, Hanover, GER, daughter of BARTHOLD VON BARGEN. She was born Abt. 1750, and died March 03, 1795 in Mehedorf, Hanover, GER by drowning. He married (2) MARGRETA SPRINGER June 19, 1796 in Bremervörde, Hanover, GER. She was born Abt. 1764 in Hollen, GER, and died April 08, 1802 in Mehedorf, Hannover, GER. He married (3) REBECKA TIEDEMANN November 10, 1803 in Bremervörde, Hanover, GER, daughter of BEREND TIEDEMANN and REIMER PAPE. She was born February 16, 1781 in Mehedorf, Hannover, GER, and died May 01, 1850 in Langenhausen, Kirchspiel Gnarrenburg, Hanover, GER.

Notes for BARTHOLD SCHÃœTTE:

Barthold,s age at his first marriage was about 27, his wife was 21 and she died when she was 45, by drowning. It also would have been about the time for her to have another child, unless it was too late in her life at the time, as she was 45 years old. With the children we know of, they had six living and two might have been dead. There is a gap of nine years in the children at one time, which leaves us to believe, that they lived in another area in that time period, or some other reason we don't know at the moment. With Barthold having so many children, it is easy to assume that they might have had at least four more or even more than four children in this time period. Their youngest child at her death would have been close to two years old.

Bartholds age at his second marriage was about 52, his wife was 32 and she died when she was about 38, I don't know what caused her death. They had one child living at her death. It is a strong possiblility that Margreta Springer's father was Harm Springer. I say this because it is a German tradition to name your first child, after your father, the second after you, the rest after your siblings, or the childrens sponsors. But, with Barthold already having a family, this might not hold true.

Barthold age at his third marriage was about 59, his wife Rebecka (my GGGG Grandmother) was 22. There was 37 years difference in their ages. Barthold died when he was about 81 years of age. Rebecka died when she was 69 years old, living in Langenhausen, which makes me wonder if my GGG grandfather, who had lived there at the birth of two of his children, might not have left Germany, as early as we had thought. We knew he left in 1850, but not when in the year. Also this 1850 could have been about 1850, or meant in the 1850's.

First wife was Anna von Bargen (1750- March 3, 1795) married November 21, 1771 in Osten, daughter of Barthold von Bargen.

Then the second wife was Margreta Springer (1764- April 8, 1802), the widow Öllrichs, married June 19, 1796 in Bremervörde. She had been married to Brewes Öllrichs on October 31, 1783 in Lamstedt, he died.

Third wife was Rebecka Tiedemann, born February 16, 1781 in Mehedorf, died May 1, 1850 in Langenhausen, in church at Gnarrenburg, married November 10, 1803 in Bremervörde, daughter of Berend Tiedemann and Reimer Metta Pape.

With me not having copies of the actual baptisms, I can't say for certain, who the children were named after, but with German tradition, being what it was at the time, I can pretty well assume.

Here are my assumptions:

Children from first marriage:

1. Otto Hinrich, b. April 19, 1772 in Oberhüll, probably named after Behrend's father Otto.

2. Barthold, b. January 25, 1774 in Oberhüll, probably named after Behrend, and Anna's father.

3. Johann, b. December 21, 1775 in Oberhüll, died......? Didn't see when....., probably named after a sibling of the parent's, or the child's sponsor.

...............Might be more children here......................................................

4. Johann, b. March 25, 1784 in Mehedorf. Served (drafted) with Napoleon in Russia. When he got back he married September 21, 1817 with Anna Adelheid Utenwold from Achthöfen, church-Osten: lived in Basbeck, probably named after a sibling of the parent's, or the child's sponsor.

5. Dierck, b. October 14, 1787 in Mehedorf, also went to Russia with Napoleon and married when he returned July 11, 1812 with Catharina Margaretha Lilienthal, daughter of (Köthner) had a small house or cottage, Harm Lilienthal of Bülkau, probably named after a sibling of the parent's, or the child's sponsor.

6. Paul, b. August 16, 1789 in Mehedorf, d. February 13, 1792 Mehedorf, probably named after a sibling of the parent's, or the child's sponsor.

7. Anna Catharina, b. August 23, 1791 in Mehedorf, probably named after a grandmother, as their names are unknown.

8. Paul, b. July 15, 1793 Mehedorf, d. February 8, 1799 Mehedorf, probably named after a sibling of the parent's, or the child's sponsor.

Children from second marriage:

9. Harm, b. April 21, 1797 in Mehedorf. Got family place in Mehedorf, married November 15, 1822 with Margareta Saul of Mehedorf, his maternal grandparents are unknown. It is easy to assume that his mother's father was Harm.

10. Carsten, b. October 22, 1801 Mehedorf, d. November 29, 1801, Mehedorf, this one is hard to guess, as Behrend later names a child Carsten in his last marriage. But, I am assuming that Behrend had a brother Carsten.

Children from third marriage:

11. Metta Catharina, b. April 11, 1804, Mehedorf, I am again assuming she was named after Rebecka's mother and maybe Behrend's, as we don't know Behrend's mothers name; Metta Catharina had (unehliche) out of wedlock daughter: Rebecka b. November 3, 1827; out of wedlock son: Johann Christian, b. December 26, 1834 who (starb) died, March 13, 1835 in Mehedorf.

12. Behrend, b. Feb 20, 1808, Mehedorf; married December 8, 1837 with Adelheid Köhnke, daughter of Hinrich Köhnke of Barkhausen, he seems to be named after Rebecka's father Behrend Tiedemann.

13. Rebecka, b. December 12, 1810 in Mehedorf, she might have been named after her mother. Rebecka had out of wedlock daughter: Anna Catharina, b. April 9, 1840; then Rebecka married November 7, 1841 with Behrend Plate of Elm.

14. Johann Hinrich, b. Jan 28, 1814 in Mehedorf, probably named after parent's siblings.

15. Carsten, b. August 9, 1817 in Mehedorf, again probably named after parent's siblings.

16. Anna, b. November 22, 1821 in Mehedorf, married April 17, 1854 with Johann Friedrich Lünzmann of Tewel, might have been named after parent's siblings.

4. BEHREND (BEN)3 SCHÜTTE (BARTHOLD2, OTTO1)2 was born February 20, 1808 in Mehedorf, Hannover, GER, and died Bef. February 12, 1859 in Benton County, MO. He married (1) ADELHEID KÖHNKE December 08, 1837 in Gnarrenburg, Hanover, GER, daughter of HINRICH KÖHNKE and ADELHEID LÜTJEN. She was born September 19, 1817 in Barkhausen, Hanover, GER, and died May 17, 1845 in Langenhausen, Hanover, GER. He married (2) CATHARINA METTA SCHOMAKER September 26, 1845, daughter of PETER SCHOMAKER and ANNA HOLST. She was born August 1823, and died February 27, 1851. He married (3) MARGARETA DAMMANN May 25, 1851, daughter of HANS DAMMANN and ELISABETH MEIER. She was born November 20, 1818, and died December 09, 1893 in Langenhausen, Hanover, GER.

Notes for BEHREND (BEN) SCHÃœTTE:

He left his third wife in Langenhausen, Hanover, Germany. We don't know the reason.

At this date, March 3, 2002, we don't know very much about Berand. I have found his name as Barnett Schitt, Barnet Shutt, B. Shitt, Barn. Shutt, Barnet Shitt, in Probate Court # 980, Benton County, MO, micro-film roll # 13; and as Barret Schit and Bernet Schütt on Benton County Land records.

Both Henry Schutte and Rebecca Schutte Steffens stated on the 1900 Benton County, MO census that they came to USA in 1850.

On July 8th, 1856, Berand signed a note at Odil & Rains, of Versailles, for a wheat fan. He gave $22, bearing an interest rate of ten per cent when due in twelve months. He signed his name with three funny +++ marks. Beside his mark it says Barn Shutte.

He evidentially died before the bill came due, as his probate has this bill in it. The bill received $22, plus interest of $5.66 for a total of $27.66.

He stated his residence as Morgan County, MO, when he first purchased land in Benton County, MO; first in September 5, 1856 and second in October 21, 1856.

There was a wheat fan sold at the sale of his estate that received $19 and was purchased by a F. Miller.

There was a "Schitt" that bought a coffee mill at the sale, and Ray Dean Brauer wonders if that wasn't his great grandmother Rebecca Schutte Steffens that bought the coffee mill, because he remembers there being one in the Steffens household.

There is an Appraisement List dated Feb. 12, 1859; Sale Bill dated April 25, 1859; Inventory dated April (No day given), 1859; several vouchers; bill for Final Settlement published in the St. Louis, MO, "Missouri Republican" newspaper, published on #33-#37, dated August 12, 19, 26, September 2, 9, 1864.

Final Settlement of Berand's estate is dated 1864, Filed Nov. 26, 1864.

Probate is VERY hard to read, first administrator was James H. Lay, his handwriting is in the most part unreadable, the second administrator listed is E. S. Drake, and he also had trouble reading Lay's handwriting.

For almost every notation in the Probate case, there are also notes in Probate Record Book, Old Records, Micro-film roll # 1,

Pg. 112: B. Schutt: Ordered that the Public Administrator take the estate of Bern(??)d Schutt and administer the same according to law.

Pg. 122: R.(looks like) Schutte: Odill L. Rains vs. Estate of Rarnschutte(looks like) }claim on note-

Now at this day comes here into court the said claimant and the administrator, being here present waiver notice and said claim is proved and allowed to claim no. 5 for the sum of twenty-five dollars including interest to this date.

Pg. 144: E.(marked out) B. Schutt: Fredrich Bishop vs. Estate of Bern. Schutt } claim on account- Now at this day comes here into court the said claimant and the administrator, being also here present, waiver notice and said claim is proved and allowed to claim no. 5 for $42.50.

Pg. 155: B. Schitt: Ordered that the inventory appraisement and sale bill filed by James H. Lay having charge of the estate of Bern. Schitt be approved.

Pg. 160: B. Schitt: John Menkin (Mahnken?) vs. Estate of Ben Schitt } claim an account- Now at this day comes here into court the claimant and the administrator being also here present waives notice and said demand is proved and allowed to claim No. 5 for $5.60.

Pg. 302: Ordered by the court that E. S. Drake, Public Administrator for Benton County, having in charge the estate of Barnett Schitt - late of Benton County deceased be and he is hereby released from further administration on said real estate.

Pg. 362: In the matter of the estate of Barrett Schitts deceased (I can only read bits and pieces of this large notation, but it is the final settlement amounts.)

Pg. 363: Is the continued part of Pg. 362, unreadable.

Pg. 380: scan pg 380-1, can't read.
