Schulz families of Brooklyn and Queens County NY

Hello Everyone,

I am wondering if anyone sees any potential connection to any of the following Schulz families who lived in Brooklyn and Queens County during the late 1880s through 1940s time period. I am particularly interested in Jacob Schulz and his wife Lillian West who in turn is a distant female cousin of mine. It is my understanding that Jacob and Lillian had at least one son named Robert J. Schulz (born about 1927, New York).

The family of August Schulz (born about April 1861, Germany) and Caroline Fuchs (born about September 1865, Germany)

1. August Henriette Schulz - born December 4, 1887 in Brooklyn, New York
2. William Henry Schulz - born December 23, 1889 in Brooklyn, New York
3. Philip Schulz - born April 11, 1892 in Brooklyn, New York
4. Carrie Schulz - born about June 1894 in New York
5. Jacob Schulz - born July, 11 1896 in Brooklyn, New York
6. Henry Schulz - born about January 1899 in New York

At this point of time I do not know the name of William Schulz's first wife, however I believe his first marriage must of taken place sometime around the year 1912. From his first wife he has a son named Herbert Schulz who was born January 8, 1918 in New York. William Schulz was married a second time to a widow named Mary Schamberger, maiden name Westenberger on March 10, 1923 in Queens County.

Philip Schulz married a certain Edith Schramm on October 1, 1921 in Queens County. They had at least one daughter named Philyis Schulz born about September 1926 in New York.

Jacob Schulz married Lillian West on February 10, 1923 in Queens County, New York. Lillian West is the daughter of Frederick West and Minnie Schmidt. Jacob Schulz and Lillian West have at least one son named Robert J. Schulz born about 1927 in New York.

In 1942 Jacob Schulz was living at 78-06 62nd St. in Glendale, NY.

In 1942 William Schulz was living at 70-25 67th Place in Glendale, NY. and was working for Valex Paint Company in Woodside, Queens, NY.

If anyone sees any connection to the above Schulz family members, I look forward to hearing from you.

SCHULTZ RELATIONSHIP by Lorenz Schulz, 4-1-1951 (6 page family tree)

I considered this a treasure in my genealogy quest. It has been passed through my family, and as we all know, when you have a common name in the family, it is awfully hard to research that line.

My immediate Schulz relatives settled in Chickasaw county, but in my research, I have found more distant lines to be scattered across the U.S. Take a look, and maybe you'll find your Schulz/Schultz relatives, too.

This is a link to a section within my website where I have scanned all six pages of the family outline. I have also posted a search-able version in these forums. You can find the post if you click, "view posts" next to my username.

You will also be able to download the images off of my website by right clicking the images. Though, they have been watermarked with my initials. I would only appreciate to be asked to use them on your own website and maybe share a bit of what you have yourself;0)

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~drewis/SchultzRelat...

I am trying to find more information on John C G Schulz who immigrated about 1890 according to the 1920 census. He was born 1857 in Prussia and died in 1935 in Birmingham Alabama.
He was possibly born in Posen. He was married to Amelia Procknow/Prochnow who was born in 1868 and died 1944 in Birmingham Alabama. They were possibly married at the time they came to America because I show they were married about 1887. I don't know where their port of entry was or if there were other family members who came also. John was a house painter by trade.

Alex Schulz was born 1877 in Russia (Pulin). He came 1907-1912 to the USA. Some years later the contact to him was lost. According to an oral tradition, the Red Cross wrote in the 1930s that he died 1926 in Lansing. No records were actually found in Lansing. Nobody knew or knows what happened to him.

It is possible, that he changed his name Alex to Alan or added the "t" to Schul(t)z. Maybe also that he died in the surrounding area.

From "History of Grant County, Wisconsin", 1881, p. 970 - 971.

TOWN OF MUSCODA

GEORGE J. SCHULZ, blacksmith, wagon manufacturer and general repairer of machinery, Muscoda; born in Bavaria on the Rhine in 1849; came to America in 1864, and located at Burlington, Iowa; came to Muscoda in 1869, and established his present business in 1872; learned his trade in the old country with his father, who was a first-class mechanic. His business has gradually increased from the start, and he has taken his brother in as a partner, who has charge of the wagon-making department. The firm name will be Schulz Brothers. George J. was married, in Muscoda, in 1872, to Miss Elizabeth Michael, a native of Pennsylvania, by whom he has three children - one son and two daughters. He is a first-class mechanic, and has worked himself up from a poor boy, now owning his own place of business.

[I am not related to this family. I'm posting this as a service and hope it helps!]

Here is my Schulz line from Germany.
Wilhelm Schulz (dates and siblings unknown)
married Dorthea Rehbein had at least one son,
Karl August Schulz May 10 1836-March 23 1922.
He married Karoline Karthols and produced 7 children:
Johanna b. Dec 29 1865, Auguste b. August 16 1868,
Julius b. July 16 1870, Wilhelm Ludwig b. April 6 1873,
Mathilde b. Dec 5 1875, Ida b. Dec 2 1878, and Gustav
b. Feb. 24 1883. Have no information on any except Wilhelm
who married Karoline Manke. They had 12 children:
Karl who died at age 3, Wilhelm and Otto who died in the first
world war, Helen Theresa b. Nov 6 1900, Margaret b. Jan 7 1903
Minna b. May 10 1904, Frieda(assumed to have died shortly after birth),
Klara b. Oct. 15 1906, Paul Otto Walter b. October 19 1908,
unknown child, Erna dates unknown, and Berta b. March 11 1915.
All their descendants are still living.
Please e-mail me if anything sounds familiar! I have been at this
for 2 years and have had no new leads!
Most of this family remained in Germany, but some were thought
to have come to the U.S in the early 1900's, possibly because of
other relatives had come previously.
Any replies will be promptly answered!

I have been promising to make an online transcription of this booklet for about a year now, and though I have yet to transcribe it into searchable text, I have copied every page in the booklet.

It contains, in the last pages starting at page 22, who were active members in the church at the time of 1989, and then on through the history of all of the church's baptisms, confirmations, marriages and funerals.

The images to the church booklet start here:

http://freepages.religions.rootsweb.com/~drewis/BoydChurch.h...

At the bottom of each image, there is a link to move forward or backward through the images.

The website where all of these images are hosted:

http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~drewis/index.html

This church had an altar that was made by my great great great grandfather, Carl Schulz, and you will find a reference to him and the altar in the booklet.

This church was sold, is now a house, and I would love to know what happened to the altar that my g-g-g-grandfather made.

I was there in 1989 with my parents and have pictures of the altar in colour:

http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~drewis/CarlSchulzAltar...

Ludwig "Louis" Schulz

Ludwig is reported by my grandma Dorothy (when she was alive) to be her dad. She Dorothy shows up in the 1910 census as being listed as the daughter of Louis and Emma Schulz. Oddly enough according to a gentleman by the name of Dale stated that it doesnt give a birthplace for her parents leading me to possibly believe that she was adopted. I have thought about that and do recall many years ago that grandma did say that her dad shot himself and someone else raised her. I thought that Louis had shot himself and someone else was her adopted dad but looking a cemetery records it states that he died of stomach cancer. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!! I know he died in 1915 but dont have his obit. Can anyone look and see if there is a Dorothy in the household of Lewis/Louis Schulz? Dorothy was born August 20 1902

any help appreciated~ Thanks in advance
Christine

Howard Arthur Schulz on Catalina Island in CA abt 1947-48

I had an open adoption; my birth parents were Howard Arthur SCHULZ and his wife Rosalyn S. (I'm not able to read her handwriting but the "S" may be for a middle name/maiden name beginning with Soa followed by 3 more letters..possibly "ces" or "res" or maybe its only 2 letters "us". I was born on Catalina Island in Avalon. at Santa Catalina Hospital on January 2, 1948.
I have been told that both parents were musicians playing in the Avalon Ballroom. It was also said that they were Portugese, but not confirmed and Schulz seems Germanic.

Because the adoption was planned, my adoptive parents asked that my birth certificate show "Frederick Lane (maiden name of adoptive mother) SCHULZ. However, adopted 5 days after birth, my birth certfiicate only shows "Frederick Lane HEWSTON" My father was Herbert Edwin HEWSTON and my mother Dorothy Lane Hewston. My father's first marriage ended in an amicable divorce, and his ex-wife Frances REDPATH was authorized to have me released to her on January 10, 1948. The Doctors heading up the Hospital were: Lawrence BRASLOW. Edithmae BRASLOW and Nathan H. OSTICH.
In 1948 my parents lived 420 N. Lincoln Street in Burbank California. But my father was a civilian working for the Navy and I grew up in Ridgecrest, where he worked for China Lake Naval Ordinance Test Station which has been re-named China Lake Naval Weapons Center.

I am hoping to connect to learn about birth family medical history and because I'm curious.
E-mail me at Fredleila@juno.com
I am looking for any info on John Martin Schulz, born 1834 and Rosina Ellwanger-Schulz, born 1840 who emigrated to the US in 1883. They had seven children together; Carl Gottlieb Schulz, my grandfather, Frederick a cigar manufacturer, Sophy, Caroline, Pauline, Catherine.
Hello,
My name is Jerzy M.
Long time ago I got cadastre documents which are from 1890 - 1944 about the villiage Wicko(Vietzig) near Lębork( Kreis Lauenburg ). They include many border protocols (Grenzverhandlung ) and cadastre drawings( handriss ). All those files were written there by special official and descibe borders of all parcels. All of them were also sighned by owners of the land, thats why I have signatures of all land owners and officials from Vietzig, and that are:
Schulz Otto.
I presume that You might be interested in those documents as they might be a family souvenir. If You are interested in that kind of documents, then write back.

Yours sincerely
Jerzy M.
