My Great-great-grandmother's brother was born in Ankum, Osnabruck 25 Apr 1835. His name was Gerhard Henry Schumacher. He was ordained as a Catholic Priest by the bishop of Osnabruck in 1861 and later came to America and served as pastor in the Cincinnati Ohio area. I have found that most of my ancestors went by their middle name and his sister even named her son (my great grandfather) after him (Henry Bill). Henry Bill's brother was a priest also, and was born in Merzen, Osnabruck. The parish he was baptised in was St. Lambert, Merzen

we are researching a London family of Schumachers from our family tree in London and York and we believe there were some links to Liverpool - perhaps one of Johann's (our great grandfather) brothers. We haven't done much on that angle yet!

Johann (b 1846 maybe in Hanover, we can't find when he died) and Anna Louisa Theodora (nee Rieckmann b 1850 Hanover d 1893 London) m 1872 in London 7 children (Ernest, Dora, Johanna, Minnie, Agnes, Anna Helena (our grandmother) Louisa and Marie

Anna Helena (Hall by then) moved to York around 1912 when married where there were several Schumachers.

We know Dora was in Liverpool in 1929 after coming back from US

Well, my Jacob Schumacher was supposedly born in "Rautenburg" Germany, although I've at least established that it was supposed to be in Wurttemberg. He was born 15 September 1851 and married in 1875 in the US, so left sometime between his birth and then. Jacob settled in Wallingford/Meriden, CT, which is where he married Christine Siegel. That is about all I know of Jacob's life prior to his marriage.

Vanda Schumacher Jackson was my mother's cousin. Vanda was the daughter of Louie and Ida Schumacher. She married Ray Jackson and the offspring you mention were the correct ones for the family I knew. Their Grand daughter is still living in WI. Vanda was named after my grandmother, Louie's sister. Ray died before Vanda and she lived alone in the Argonne area until she died. She was a wonderful person and had many, many friends in Argonne. I am sure there are many people living there who would be able to share a lot of information with you.

My cousin, Donna Szews, has done a lot of genealogical research on the family and has some photos etc. as well. I forwarded your message to her and hope she will be able to contact you with the information you are seeking. She also has a lot of information about Ida Bacon Schumacher and family as Ida was her ancestor too.

I have had some serious surgeries and the anaesthetic has affected my memory which is coming back very, very slowly and sometimes not too accurately so Donna will certainly be able to help you more than I can.

Ernst Schumacher born 1805 Gross Lukow, Germany

I have been working on the Schumacher, Schumaker, Shumaker, Shoemaker, Schomaker line. I am pretty confident that I have traced the line back to Ernst Heinrich Friedrich Schumacher who lived in Gross Lukow, Germany. He had two wives, the first being Hanna Maria Sachtteben /Sachtleben with whom they had the following children that moved to the US. John Schumaker who moved to the Kankakee, IL area; Caroline Schumaker; and Theodore Shoemaker, who moved to Morris, MN.

I am wanting to get or share information on these families.

Tim -

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I would very much like to trade info. I do not have very many old pics and none of the Schumachers/Recktenwalds. The data that is posted on Ancestry is my most current work. I'm taking this year to clean up my data in Family Tree Maker and make sure I have most of my facts sourced. If it would be easier for you I can cut you a GEDCOM of my family tree. Just tell me who to start with.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

- Mike Heyden

I haven't thoroughly researched my Schumacher side either and don't even know these individuals. But here is some info. from notes I've taken: Francis Joseph Schumacher was born 7 June 1912 in Wallingford, CT and was living at 48 Meadow Street according to the 1933 Wallingford directory. Francis removed to New York according to the 1935 directory, but was living at 115 South Colony Street according to the 1937 Wallingford directory. Francis died 12 September 1941 at the age of 29 (according to the 1945 Wallingford directory) and is buried in St. John's cemetery in Wallingford. The same source lists his widow, Ida M., as living at Grove Street in Yalesville. I don't know where in NY he moved to, but on the off chance that this relates, I'm offering up the information.

I would be related to you through your great-grandmother Anna Maria Recktenwald. I have a cousin who would also be a great-great grandson of Margaret Zimmer Recktenwald. Her husband Jacob Recktenwald died in Buffalo in 1841 according to the St Louis Catholic Church Records. Jacob's parents were Jacob and Anna Schummer Recktenwald and they were born in Winterbach, Germany. I am decended fron their son John who also lived in Buffalo from 1851 to 1860. I could send you the Recktenwald family tree if you would be interested. I also have a picture of Margaret Recktenwald that I got from my cousin Bill. Jacob and Margaret had 10 children that grew to adulthood. I would be interested in any info and pictures you might have of Philip and Anna Maria Recktenwald Schummacher that you would be willing to share. I have pictures of two of Jacob and Margaret's children Michael and Theresa Recktewlad that I could send you. Let me know if you would be interested in exchanging info and pictures.
Tim

My father was Fred C. Schumacher Jr. who was the son of Fred and Myrtle Schumacher who lived in Kansas City, MO. My father died on May 2, 2003 in Denver, CO. (where we moved to in 1959) and is buried in the Ft. Logan cemetery here. My mother, Bonnie Schumacher is still living at the age of 89. Interested in any other information?
