Loretta/Joseph/George Schutz, 1900- 1975, (Watertown, WI) and Shutz family from Bavaria?

I have a lot of information on this family, and am trying to verify details. I would appreciate any help if you have Schutz information from the Watertown, WI area, (especially if they originally came from Bavaria).

Main question is verifying the arrival date of George Schutz, in America, and the hometown in Germany, (Bavaria). If you look at the dates below, they don't match up for the arrival times versus Joseph's birth.

George and Mary were married in 1860. My current speculations is Mary might have been pregnant with Joseph when they left Bavaria in 1861/62/63. It would have taken them several months to arrive in the U.S..
Joseph was born in May of 1862,Bavaria and the best ship list I have is arrived in December 1863, New York?

All of the family lived in the Watertown, WI, (Jefferson and Dodge County), area on various farms, or sometimes in Watertown.
I first find George(39)/ Mary(35) in the 1870 census under George Schuls, with 6 children living on a farm in LeRoy, WI.
This becomes George(49)/Mary Schutz(46) in the 1880 census on the same farm in LeRoy.
And finally in the 1900 census George(69)/Mary(64). Says they have been married for 40 years.

The family:
Loretta Ann Sarah Sadie Schutz is my grandmother born in Hubbleton, WI, (1900-1975), and married to William Schultz.
She had three brothers, George, Raymond, and Louis.
Her mother/father were Joseph Schutz and Rose Appenfeld(t).
Jospeh was born February 8, 1871 in LeRoy, WI and died in 1935. His gravemarker says, "Sofe J. Schutz". Here is his obituary:
Obituary Watertown Courier 5 September 1935
Joe Schutz dies suddenly Tuesday
Funeral services will be held today at ST. Henry's Church Watertwon on Friday morning. Septmeber 6th for Joe Schutz, age 64, who died of a heart attack on Tuesday September 3rd.
Joe Schutz son of George and Catherine Schutz, was born February 8, 1871 at LeRoy, WI where he resided for several years. The family then moved to Neosho where he remained for four years and learned the blacksmith trade. Later he moved to Watertown to continue his Blacksmith trade and was married there on February 16, 1898 to Rose Appenfledt at St. Henry's church. A few years after their marriage they moved to a farm near Sun Prarie where they resided for 25 years, and then moved to the Foley farm, north of Waterloo, and later to Hanke farm south of here , for seven years.
Besides his wife he is survived by four children, one daughter Mrs Wm. Schultz Jr, and three sons, George, Raymond, and Louis; five grandchildren; one brother, Louis Schutz and a sister, Mrs. Herman Schoechert.
Mr Schutz dropped dead while working in a corn field at the Tom Fenney farm south of here, one of his neighbors. He was helping fill silo and suffered the attack shortly after dinner. There were other men working in the same field.

Joseph's parents were George Schutz and Mary Adna(sp?).
My best dates are George Schutz, born May 1831, Bavaria Germany, and died September 23, 1901, Wisconsin.
Mary born December 1835 Bavaria, Germany.
I have two possible ship lists, with the most likely being
December 7, 1863, showing barely readable names just using initials. C/G Schutz- 32, M Schutz-28, J Schutz- 2.
Here is what I have on George:
George Schutz- He was born May 1831 in Bavaria, Germany. Immigration Mar 1862 in from Bavaria. He died on 23 Sep 1901 in Wisconsin. Cause of Death was Appendicitis.
Notes for George Schutz: General Notes:
According the the 1900 census they were married for 40 years (1860 married).

Indicated they both arrived, (with Joseph), in the US in 1861, but says living in US for 29 years which does not make sense. Also indicated Joseph Schutz was born in Germany in 1862, again this does not match above? Maybe she was pregnant when they left Germany so he immigrated in 1861 but was born in May of 1862. Immigration would then be between Sept. and Dec. of 1861?
George listed as Pa.
Declaration of intent obtained. Dodge County, 29th Day of October 1867.
Born in Bavaria, 1838(?) which does not match all census of 1831. Landed at Port of New York, May,(or March) 1862. Since the birthdate is wrong, and he just signed with "X", I am just using this document as an indicator of what happened.

(George Schutz WI vital records request for Death Certificate. (need to also look for wife Mary) Searched pre-1907, 1900 to 1904 and 1907 to 1910, with negative result.

Mary Adna. She was born Dec 1835 in Bavaria, Germany. Immigration 1862 in from Bavaria.
Notes for Mary Adna: General Notes:
may also be Mary or Catherine? most of census has as Mary
From Joseph Schutz marriage certificate the mother's name is Mary Adna (hard to make out spelling but starts Ad for sure).

George Schutz and Mary Adna. They were married 1860 in Bavaria, Germany. They had 9 children.
1)	Joseph Schutz. He was born on 16 May 1860 in Bavaria. Immigration 1861. He died on 23 Sep 1901 in Maryville, Wisconsin.

2)	George Schutz. He was born Feb 1863 in LeRoy,WI. He married Anna. They were married 1883.

3) John Schutz. He was born on 06 May 1869 in LeRoy, Wi. He died in Wisconsin.

4)	Barbara Schutz. She was born 1868 in LeRoy,WI. She died in Wisconsin.

5)	Kathrina Schutz. She was born Oct 1869 in LeRoy,WI.

6)	Sarah Schutz. She was born Oct 1869 in LeRoy, Wi.

7) Joseph Schutz. He was born on 08 Feb 1871 in LeRoy, Wi. He married Rosa Appenfeldt. They were married on 16 Feb 1898 in Watertown, WI St. Henry's Church. He died on 03 Sep 1935 in Watertown, WI. Burial in Watertown, WI, St. Henry cemetery.

8) Olga Maria Schutz. She was born Oct 1874 in LeRoy, Wi. She married Herman Edward Schoechert. They were married 1904.

9) Louis Schutz. He was born on 23 Dec 1875 in LeRoy, Wi. He married Jenny. They were married 1903. He died in Milwaukee, WI.

Anyone willing to look this up, please contact me.
Schutz family German origins???

I know what happened to my Schutz family after immigrating to US. But, I know almost nothing of the origins of the Schutz' in German. My ancestor was Carl Schutz, his wife was Elizabeth. The only children I know of were Maria & Catherine, born in Thalfroschen, Rheinbayern. Catherine in 1853. They went to LeHavre, France where Carl was a farrier and Marie married Johannes Eblen and, with her husband and Catherine, immigrated to USA in 1870.
If anyone had information about the Schutz origins I would be happy to hear from you.

I'm looking for information, relatives, anything you have on descendants or ancestors of Johann Schutz of Wattendorf, Germany. He was born 6 Mar 1782, his wife was Maria Cunigunda Sporlein. It appears that their children emmigrated to the US in @1840. They were one daughter, Margaretha, and two or three sons, Georg, Vitus, and Matthaus. They settled in the Illinois area. My husband's family is the only branch to have moved on to California. It appears that most of the rest of the family stayed in Illinois or the surrounding areas.

Margaretha, Georg, and Matthaus died in Greene Co. Illinois.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Leila Schutz, wife of Jerry Schutz

There are some mistakes in the listings of Howard Schutz's sons. The birthdates are wrong. I am one of his sons and will set it straight. Howard Jr. was born in 1941, next was Paul born in 1944. Then came Robert who was born in 1947, then James born in 1949 and lastly myself Terry born in 1951.
We are of German/Prussian heritage.

I am Terry Reiff (born Terry Schutz) there seems to be some confusion over a John and/or Jacob Schutz. My great, grandfather was John Jacob Schutz. His wife was Anna Maria, they had 9 children. My grandfather was Frank Schutz (son of John and Anna) my grandmother's name was Mary. My father was Howard Schutz Sr. son of Frank and Mary.
John Schutz served in the 188th Regiment (Volunteers of New York) in the Civil War.
John's parents were born in Germany and came to U.S.A. in early 1800's. His wife's family came from Germany at the same time. All are of Prussian/German heritage.
John and Anna are buried about 1 mile from my home. Anyone seeking more info can e-mail me at tars7014620@yahoo.com. Thanks for reading!

I am looking for information about my great-great-grandmother, Anna Maria Wolfanger. She was the daughter of Johann Nikolaus Wolfanger and Catharine Bill. She was born in 1846 and married Jacob Schutz (b. 1845) on November 10, 1863 in Perkinsville, Steuben County, NY. I am unsure how many children they had and where and when they died. According to the 1875 census, they were living in Wayland, Steuben County, NY, but I do not know where they went after that. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Jackie

Schutz Family of Pennsylvania

I am searching for information concerning immigrant ancestor, John ( Johan ) Schutz, who was born on June 27, 1866 in the village of Neavdirer (?) in the county of Zipps in the " Empire of Austria-Hungary ". He came to New York on June 12, 1883. At the time that he was naturalized on Nov. 23, 1903, he was living in the township of Foster, PA., very close to Wilkes-Barre. Family tradition says that he came from Germany, where he owned a brewery, so maybe he did that before moving to Austria or something. Or he might have been born in Austria but moved to Germany to start his brewery.
He married Anna Hitmmel and had daughter, Doris Schutz, on Feb. 16, 1892, in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Doris married John Devlin and lived at 96 Searle Street in Pittston, PA. until her death on June 14, 1973.
I am searching for information concerning this Schutz family in PA. as well as in Austria-Hungary or Germany or wherever they were indeed from! I am especially interested in their Schutz family origins. If anyone can help me, please e-mail me at: jmayolak@tampabay.rr.com .
Jean Mayo-Lakatos.

Francis S. Schutz and Sophie Schutz (Shutz)

I have hit a dead end in my search and hope someone can help. My ggrandfather, Francis S. Schutz/Shutz was born in Baden, Germany in 1835. My ggrandmother, Sophie (maiden name unknown) was born in Prussia in 1832. In the 1880 census they were living at 1418 South 4th Street in Philadelphia, PA. Their children were Frances R. Schutz (male), born in 1859 in PA., Sophie Schutz, born March 13, 1867 in Philadelphia, PA., died in 1939. Henry J. Schutz, born in 1871 in PA, Frances W. Schutz (female), born in 1874 in PA and Frederick Schutz, born in 1876 in PA. The daughter, Sophie (my grandmother) married Christian Rudolph Balzer on May 20, 1889 in Holy Family Catholic Church in Shenandoah, PA. He was born in Alsace Lorraine on May 1, 1867 and died about 1929. His parents were Peter Balzer & Susanna Dreistadt. Sophie & Chris Balzer lived at 305 Line Street in Shenandoah, where he was listed as a coal miner in the 1890 census. Their children were Mary Sophia, born 1890 in Shenandoah, Mary Elizabeth, born 1892 in Shenandoah, Mary Agnes, born 1896 in Shenandoah, Mary Caroline, born 1898 in Shenandoah, Christian R. Balzer, Jr., (my father) born January 8, 1902 in Shenandoah, PA, William Peter, born 1904 in Shenandoah, and Marie A., who may have been born in New Jersey. The family was living in Camden, New Jersey in 1911, and had lived at 56 Snyder Avenue in Philadelphia, PA at one time. I am hoping someone here can help me - I would love to learn about Francis S. & Sophie's parents, etc., and their children's families.
My great grandparents, Sophie & Frank Shutz were born in Germany. Their daughter, Sophie, was born on March 13, 1867. She married my grandfather, Christian Balzer, in Holy Family Catholic Church in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania on May 20, 1889. They had several children born in Shenandoah - Sophie, Elizabeth, Agnes, Christian (my father), William, Caroline & Marie. There are several Schutz's listed as godparents to their kids, and I wonder if they might be Sophie's brothers. They are William, Frederick, and Henry Schutz. If anyone can give me more information about the family, I would appreciate hearing from you. You can e-mail me at honer@erols.com

Von Schutz or Shutz

My paternal grandmother, Sofie Balzer, was born around 1892 in the Blue Mountain area of Pennsylvania. Her mother's family was either Schutz or Shutz (they dropped the Von when they came to America), and I had a first (?) cousin named Fr.Francis Joseph Von Schutz or shutz, who died when I was very young. Grandmother Sofie claimed they were related to the Hapsburgs of Austria, and also the Shittlhavens (spelling approximate) and the Damms. If anyone knows for sure, I'd greatly appreciate it, since Granmum was known for her tall tales.
