I regret I have not been active in genealogy for several years now due to my husband's massive heart attack which he, thankfully, survived. I see I have no information at all on Henry VanDriesen and Nancy Schuyler's ancestry.
I don't know how to get back to you when I do. I think right before the heart attack I was given a package of information by snail mail which might have more info.
In the meantime. Ancestry.com has changed how it works so much that I am not doing well getting around in it. It was once simple and efficient, but the more options they add, the more confusing it is to me. If I haven't contacted you in the next week, please re-post to me so I can reply. The list of Caroline VanDriesen and George Washington Loomis' children includes my gr grandmother Francis Marie Loomis who married Samuel Green. I have a lot of information on that family but not Schuyler VanDriesen ancestors. Am curious as to your link. Thank you for your post! Gayle

This is not my direct line but that of relatives. I haven't made the link; just have a bit of information otherwise. 1860, NJ, Morris Co shows John Schuyler Sr, 64, with Catherine, 67, John Jr, 33, and Caroline, 8. I'm guessing that Caroline remained in NJ with grandparents when her father moved west - Iowa and then Nebraska. Have you looked at the newly posted database on Germans in New Jersey?

Other than what is on-line, I have no documentation or I would share it with you.

Happy hunting,
Shirley

Greetings!

I've discovered about you through the internet, while I was searching for my cousin's long-lost father Mr. Amos B. Tiger Sr. I just want to ask for any help or assistance if you could please assist me in finding him.

Mr. Amos B. Tiger Sr. was a US Navy who had his military service here in the Cavite , Philippines , year 1958, and met my cousin's mother Ms. Nenita Malimban. But due to the problems between the both of them, they did not end up together. Ms. Nenita Malimban gave birth and that is my cousin named Mr. Cleto Amos Tiger Jr., named after Mr. Amos B. Tiger Sr. as shown on my cousin’s birth certificate..

All we know about Mr. Amos B. Tiger Sr is that he is a US Navy from Oklahoma and by year 1959 had his service in Wachington DC . Attached is his picture taken about 50 years ago. As estimated, he might be around 75-77 years old now., (might born around 1932-1934)

My cousin has been looking and longing for him since birth.

I hope you could extend some help or assistance for this matter.

Hoping for your response.

Thank you.
Hello! I know that you posted this about ten years ago but I have a question in regards to your posting on the Schuyler - Schryer connection. I've never come across any connection to these two names. Would you be able to direct me to your source information? I've found that a Nicholas Schryer and a seperate Nicholas Schuyler existed seperately in North America.

Hello All,
This is all so close to the Schyuler info I've posted on the other thread...how many Schyulers can all be so close together in Northern NJ and not be related?
You may find something if you can check the records of the Chester Cemetary, located behind the Chester Presbyterian Church in Chester NJ, for my ancestors in the Schyuler family plot.
I am decended from the Peter Schyuler line.
See my other post, it explains it all there...good luck!
Last time I was in NJ, I took photos of the Schyuler gravestones with names and dates, email me if you would like to see. d_weise@hotmail.com

Hi Lois, thanks for sending a message. You must be Lea's sister? I have exchanged a few emails with Lea re family tree stuff, but it's been a while. The photo is attached. I would love to find out who the other people in it are. Maybe they are your grandmother's relatives on her side. I came across the photo at the Bucks County Historical Society; I don't know how they got it but that's where the originals are. My email is skies4@verizon.net. Thanks!
Christine

Schuyler J. Stockham

I am looking for the parents of Schuyler J. Stockham born in 1821 in Pennsylvania. He married Mary Ann (unknown surname) born about 1828 in New Jersey. They had four children, all born in Wayne County,Michigan. They are: Celia born about 1848, Emma born about 1850, William born about 1853, George born about 1859. According to the 1870 and 1880 U.S. Census for Detroit, Michigan, Schuyler J. Stockham was a wholesale lumber merchant. Since Schuyler is an unusual given name, I think that it must be a family name and that he must be connected to the Schuyler family. I have noted that some of the Schuyler family are from Bucks County Pennsylvania. Bucks County is where the immigrant George Stockham (1736-1821) and his wife Elizabeth Biss settled when they arrived from Bristol, England and where they had their large family. Schuyler Stockham's mother may have been a Schuyler. I would appreciate any information that may lead me to his parents.
Hello
Thanks for the information. This is my wife's side of the family. I haven't done anything on her ancestry for years now, since it is so well known. Her Grandmother was Katrina VanRensselaer and Grandfather was Maurice Edwin Ginn Sr.(founder of Ginn Pubilshing Company-most of the school books printed by Ginn Publishing through the 20th Century. He also gave a Million dollars in 1910 to start the World Peace Organization which still exists at Harvard University). So both sides of the family, Grandfather and grandmother came from money. None of it flowed to her though. I always kid her that I only married her for her money and now she doesn't have any. We've been married 42 years though. So, that's the story. Thanks again for the information.
Cliff Nye

Irene W. SCHUYLER (1895-1971)

I have just discovered that, after Harry died in 1897 Elizabeth Shearstone Negley married a William G. LEWIS (William and Elizabeth are listed in the 1900 census with Stella Negley and Joseph Charles Negley) William was a painter and paper hanger. And I can only find the couple in the 1900 census.

Questions: Who is Irene W. SCHUYLERr (the wife of Joseph Charles (or Charles Joseph) Negley? Who are her parents? Where is she buried?

Who is William G. LEWIS? He was apparently born in PA in 1850 (according to the 1900 census), but I cannot determine any other specifics such as parents, siblings, death date, or burial..

Willing to share information.
Hi Mark,

Well, let's see here. It was several years ago that my mother started her work on this line. She and I descend from Peter thru David Carr & Azubah Corwin, then Hiram H. Carr & Agnes (some holes there), then Horace Brown Carr & Flora Belle Rowe, then Agnes Carr & William W. Garwood. The family went from NJ to Orange Co., NY (iffy memory here - I think that was around Port Jervis?), then north to Cortland Co., NY. Hiram H. Carr was in Cortland Co. until his death in 1914. His son Horace B. went to northeast Nebraska, Dixon Co. From there Agnes Carr married and went to Wyoming. Just a little background.

If you can figure out all our abbreviations, here is the War Pension record. It is typed the way it was written:

(March 15, 2003, Denver Public Library)
Genealogical Abstracts of Revolutionary War Pensions, G973.34 W586ge (in three volumes)

Carr, Peter. I can't tell which one this is, unless it is paperwork included in the pension papers. I have a paper copy of the whole file:
Mrs. Hester Carr
Payment to be made at Newark, by P. [Phil] Dickerson, Esq., Agent for Pensioners in the Agency of New Jersey Payable on the 4th September and 4th March. Recorded in the Pension Office on the Roll of Pensioners under act February 2d, 1848, Page 287, Vol. 4.

More from the pension papers:
District of New Jersey:
On this eleventh day of April 1818..
personally appeared Peter Karr aged sixty eight years resident in the town of Newark in the county of Essex in the said District... being sworn... that the said Peter Karr enlisted sometime in the year 1775 (but at what ime he now forgets) at Pompton in the state of New Jersey in the company commanded by Captain Meeker in the First Jersey Regiment commanded by Col [I can’t read the name-Myers? L.A.] in the Jersey line on the Continental establishment tht he continued to serve in the field corps, untill some time in the year 1777 having served somewhere about eighteen months. That he was enlisted only for one year but at the expiration of his term, he was at Ticonderoga + the ship not arriving in time he among othere were called upon by [Genl Washington - crossed out] his commanding officer as an act of Patriotism to stay with the troop until the ship should arrive, that he served until the ship arrived being about six months after his time expired. ... his discharge at Pompton in the State of New Jersey. [The following was written and struck out with a single line across it] ... a month after this discharge as ... and which he has since lost he enlisted near Patterson in the county of Essex in the state of New Jersey in the company commanded by Captain Harman [?] in the fifth regiment commanded by Col [can’t read name] in the Jersey line that he served in the said corps for about two years when he was discharged at Toppon [?] in the state of New Jersey. That in about two months after receiving this second discharge which he has also lost, he [“reenlisted” is crossed out and another word is above it, can’t read] in the County of Bergen in the state of New Jersey in the company commanded by Captain Outwater in the militia that he served with the said company until the close of the War. [End of crossed out lines] That he was in the siege of Ticonderoga and Crown Point, and that he is in reduced circumstances and [can’t read a word] in need of assistance of his country for support and that he has no other evidence now in his power of his said service.
his
Signed Peter X Carr
mark

William Pennington, District Judge

Well, that more or less sums up the main info I have form the Rev. War papers. It doesn't mention Peter Carr (Kerr)'s immigration, birth, parents, nothing. I do know that we did not exhaust all our avenues of research in NJ. I wonder if more info could be found in the Dutch Church records, the NJ State Historical Society or in some of the County societies.

Let me keep looking in my notes for anything else that might interest you. If you'd like the info about our line, with spouses, dates, children, etc., let me know and I can send it to you personally, not on the message board. Hope this helps with something!

Laura

I do not come through this line, but Olivia Angeline King is my great-great-great aunt. After Edward King Schuyler's father died, she married George W Smith, the sister of my Great-great grandmother. I believe that Mattie Owen King's maiden name was Wilson. Three of their children, Cora, Raymond and Viola are on the California Death Index, and it lists Wilson as the maiden name of their mother. Has anybody found out Edward's father's name? Based on the census records that list Edward, he was born in NY.

Hi,
I am descended from David's younger brother William Henry, and William's wife Jane Stanton.
It really seems strange to me that info on Peter's ancestry is so hard to find. He married into a very prominent family. I'm wondering if he has some "skeletons in the closet", and his ancestry is not straight forward. I even paid someone at the NJ Historical Society to check him out, and they couldn't come up with anything more than I already had.
Anyway, thanks for the quick reply, and I would sure appreciate a note if you run across any more information.

Thanks,
Mark Johnson

Laura,
Thanks for the information. There are a few tidbits in there that I didn't have about his war record. Very interesting. You mentioned the NJ Historical Society. I already paid someone there to try to find Peter's ancestry. They too ran into a brick wall.
If I stumble onto to something I'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks Again,

Mark

Don't know if you're still out there or not, but I am very interested in finding out more about Peter Carr. He and Hester are direct descendants. But I have not been able to find out anything about Peter's parents, or when the Carr family came to the US. Anything in the Rev. War papers that addresses this?

Mark Johnson

Laura,
Thanks for the help. I am descended from Peter Carr as follows:
Peter Carr - Hester Schuyler
William Henry Carr - Jane Stanton
George W. Carr - Hannah Jane Everhart
etc.
I am really curious about the ancestry of Peter Carr. It seems strange that there appears to be no record of it, even though he married into a very well-to-do family (at least the Schuylers were very important people a generation or two before Hester).
Looking forward to hearing from you, and if there is any info I have that you need, I would certainly like to share it with you.

Thanks,

Mark

I recently purchased a bunch of old photos. One of the photos shows a couple and is labeled on the reverse "Schuyler - Ruth Reyner". The photo was taken at a photo studio in Wellsville, Missouri. Maybe someone will recognize one of their ancestors.

Attached is a copy of the photo. If these are your ancestors, please contact me.

Hello,

I have a few of Mr. Schuyler letters. The letters appear to be to friends and speak about personal issues & business ones. Regarding him being a salesman, one of the letters state that he was "elected" salesman at the Aztalan Cheese factory in 1881.

The personal part of the letters mention a couple who were married and at the wedding had their 3 day old baby with them. I do not believe it is a relation to Mr. Schuyler, more of one tha was associated with him.

Please let me know if you have anymore questions.

Schuyler lore about a relation of the General being a horse thief

Our family "legend" is that we are descended from one of General Philip Schuyler's (of Albany NY) relations, possibly a brother, who was a horse thief. He moved to southeastern Pennsylvania (Bucks or Montgomery County area), possibly to avoid persecution. I have found no evidence to support this story. Does this tale sound familiar to anyone? If so, please contact me.
What I do know is that our line goes like this: my husband Rob is son of Chester Clymer Schuyler Jr, who is son of Chester Sr, who is son of Arthur, who is son of Benjamin (1832-1916).
Thanks.Christine Schuyler
