I don't have any information on Lucinda Scoby but my GF Joseph Scoby was born in Scotland or perhaps Northern Ireland. He and his family arrived in the US in 1888 and settled in Massachusetts. As far as I have been able to determine he grew up in Northern Ireland in the area of Londonderry and Faugenvale. When he obtained his citizeship in the US is name was change to SCOBIE. This might help somewhere along the line.

Hummm. That sounds interesting. Lucinda Scoby was born in OH, was married to Andrew Young in OH and I have relatives in the Franklin Co., OH area. I must check this out. Thank you so much for your information. This is certainly a treat.

I am at work right now, but when I get home, I will check this out more and give you precise information on Lucinda.

In 1850 and 1860 Gideon was in Franklin County, Ohio. There were a few posts on the Franklin County site about a Clinton Scoby, which seems to be Gideon's family. The message track is Clinton Scoby. There is not a Lucinda mentioned in that series of posts, but it might be good to see if one of the other folks posting to that thread know of a Lucinda Scoby.
I have Gideon Scoby and Irene Landon's daughter as Clara burried in Brush Ridge Cemetary, also known as Grand Prairie Cemetary, in Marion County, Ohio. I didn't have Alice.
Do you know what state(s) Lucinda lived in?

Oh my goodness. I have been looking for a break on this side of the family for years. I found information that Gideon Scoby was in the Civil War (5/2/1864 - Union) on the net.

Do you know whether or not this person is related to my Lucinda Scoby?? She is my GGG grandmother. I found Gideon in the 1880 Census in Salt Rock, Marion Co., OH.

Gideon 37 OH
Irene 33 OH
Alice 6 OH
Clara 9m OH

Anyway, any kind of information that you could give me would be great.

One of my gg-aunts was married to a Gideon Scoby (born 1838 - died 1906.) Irene and Gideon have cemetery markers in the Brush Ridge (Grand Prairie) Cemetery, Lot 12, Sec. 7, plot 2 or 3 (not clear from card which it is), Marion County, Ohio. I don't know much else about Gideon Scoby, except that I am pretty sure he served in the Civil War.
