I would be a distant cousin because I am also descended from William Scofield and Sarah (Sally) Waterbury. I was not aware of Emma, nor that her mother's middle name was Rosalie. However, I am forwarding some of my clips of other messages from other people who are searching in the same tree:

"SCOFIELD, WATERBURY posted by Connie Broy on Tuesday, January 26, 1999:

I am trying to locate information on the parents of William SCOFIELD b. ca 1804, d. 23 March 186?. He is buried in Wayne Township, Cass County, MI with his wife Sarah "Sally" M. SCOFIELD. He was a farmer. Sarah b. ca 1806 and d. 12 Apr 1889, Cass County, MI.,and was the daughter of J. WATERBURY and Susan. Thank you"

Also posted 31 Aug 2007 in responce to my postin:
"I some have information on William Scofield b.abt 1804 CT, m. Sarah M. Watterbury abt. 1824. They were in Oswego Co., NY in the 1850 census. William d. Mar 186? and Sarah d. 12 Apr 1889 in Pokagon, Cass Co., MI. They are my 4gr grandparents.
Connie" and:

"I am searching the SCOFIELD Family. My information indicates that Sarah "Sally" Scofield's middle name started with an M. Her maiden name was Watterbury. How did you arrive that William Scofield's father was Daniel? I have searched many records in CT and could not determined his fathers name.

I have more information on the Scofield family.
Connie" and

"I just discovered this Scofield Forum. I am also trying to find more information about WILLIAM SYLVESTER SCOFIELD and LUCINDA R. FETHERLY. They are my gr gr grandparents. My line goes like this: Derla Arbogast Lehnherr>Leona Rumelhart Arbogast>Josephine Briles Rumelhart>Mira Scofield Briles>William Sylvester Scofield. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is there a Scofield web page? Derla Lehnherr" and

"William Sylvester Scofield was my gg-grandfather. Perhaps you can help me with Mira Scofield and John Briles. All I have is 6 children listed; Jack, Dorothy, Dweey, Lydia, Josephine and Frances Briles. William Sylvester Scofield's parents were William Scofield, b. abt 1804 in CT. Married "Sally" Sarah Waterbury. Yvonne Taylor is a cousin of mine.
Connie Broy"

I hope that this information will help you. I also hope that we cousins might be able to help each other in our quest for the parents of William Scofield.

Ed von Gohren, descended from Sarah Jane, sister of William Sylvester. evongohren@yahoo.com

P.S. I can not confirm that William's father was Daniel.
Yes, thank you. Moses Miller is my 4th Great Grandfather. His son Norman had a son, Norman Eugene and his son Eugene Andrew was my great grandfather. I only had the year in which Ursula was born. Thanks for the entire date. I have Cynthia born 2/17/1797 instead of 1787, and that Moses was born in 1795. I have that she was born in Katskill, Yates County, New York. I did not have the date or where Moses and Cynthia were married. I, also have Joshua Rogers and Phebe Fox written as Ursula Rogers' parents. I live in Linn County, Iowa. Thanks for the information. Dawn Cook

I have no dates on Sylvanius, but his wife Ursula was born 4 Feb 1770 in CT. They were married 13 Dec 1789 in Bangall, Dutchess Co., NY. I suspect they had more than one child, but all I have is Cynthia who was 17 Feb 1787 in Montgomery Co., NY and married Moses Miller 1 Jan. 1820 in Penn Yan, Yates Co., New York. Cynthia died 17 March 1868 in Linn Co., Iowa. Is this your connection? My records indicate that Ursula Rogers was the daughter of Joshua Rogers and Phebe Fox. I know nothing more about Phebe Fox.

Hi Peggy,

I am so sorry for getting back to you so late on your reply. I have not done much research on the Scofield's. I have only traced my husband's direct blood line from Wisconsin/Illinois/New York/Connecticut/England. I am not sure if my husband's line it the one connected to the Governor of Wisconsin. I will have to do some more research into that. You can e-mail at scofield62001@yahoo.com if you would like.

Oneida

Hello!
Yes, this is the same family. We are descended from Elisha, also a brother of Joseph's, who was married to Martha Turner, sister to Mary Ann. Their graves are side by side in Clay Co. Indiana.
Last year we were able to visit their graves and also to meet Robert Turner, who is a descendent of Joseph's. Robert, coincidently, purchased the land near that cemetery and found out it is part of the family's original homestead.
We would love to share and exchange information with you.

Barb & Kit Johnson

Barb,

Looking at Joseph Scofield in the 1820 Census in Warren Co., OH. you will find the Bakers (David Baker & Mofer? Baker)on one side of Joseph and the John Turner on the other side. If you look at Joseph Scofield's family there is 1 male 15-20 (Elisa), 1 male 50-60 (Joseph), 1 female 5-10, 2 females 10-15, 1 female 15-20 and 1 female 40-50 (Sarah). The Turner family 1 M 5-10, 2 M 10-15, 2 M 15-20, 1 M 40-50, 1 F 5-10 (Mary A. Turner), 1 F 10-15, 1 F 15-20, 1 F 40-50.
Joseph and Sarah Scofield are buried at Deerfield Township
DOG STREET CEMETERY at the end of Kings Island amusement park.
SCOFIELD, Joseph, ---, ---, ---, Sept. 9, 1859, 87 yrs - 11 mos - 3 days, stone present
SCOFIELD, Sarah, wife, Joseph, ---, May 19, 1858, 76 yrs - 2 mos - 22 days, stone present

I have William Scofield in the Butler Co. OH 1820 census with 2 M >5 (Charles Gilbert & Joseph Harvey), 1 M 5-10 (Jared), 1M 30-40 (Wm), 1 F >5, 2 F 5-10 (Delia & Ester), 1 F 15-20, 1 F 20-30 (Lydia)
Charles Gilber Obit indicates that his fater William died when he was 8 and he lived with the Jacoby family. This would place William's death around 1824. I believe this is when Joseph Harvey Scofield moved in with his Uncle Joseph Scofield in Deerfield Twp. I the Scofield records at the library in Cinn., OH they had Joseph and Joseph Harvey and another Joseph (W?). I need to find those records (this was when I started to question if my Joseph Harvey was the son of Joseph or William. I am sure he lived with Joseph and Sarah and he married the girl next door Mary A. Turner . Later in life Isaac Scofield from Conn. moved in with Joseph and Sarah.
Joseph Harveys first wife Mary Anna Turner is buried in the Turner Cemetery. Records get a little fuzzy in Ohio but I think William Scofield died young and his childern all moved in with other family members. William was Joseph and Jared's brother. I need to get to Butler Co and Warren Co records to figure it out. Our maybe find a few clues from your records.
I also have a Scofield Turner tie into Terre Haute. I believe a brother or cousin Joseph Harvey Scofield married a Mary Anna Turner on 06 Jan 1837 in Warren Co., OH and the moved to Terre Haute. I am related to Joseph Harvey WScofield thru his second wife Rachel Dickerson. They all came from Stamford Conn.
Do you have any names other than Ada Scofield? She probably is from the Joseph Harvey Scofield line that came from OH to Terre Haute.
