Another mysterious SCOUT surfaces in Columbia County, PA!!! Need help in identifying his past and who his parents were. I have found no confirmed date of death.
The 1880 United States Census for Moreland, Lycoming County, PA , household of John Spring---could be the same Edward SCOUT based on his age of 15 at this time, and that there is an older Elizabeth Spring in the household. Edward is indicated as step son of John Spring. Elizabeth Spring is about the right age of 44 in 1880 to be the mother later mentioned in Census where we find Edward SCOUT. Later census places Elizabeth Folk, listed as Edward's mother and as born 1830.
The 1880 Moreland, Lycoming County, PA Census follows:
John SPRING Self S Male W 47 PA Farmer PA PA
Catherine SPRING Mother W Female W 68 PA Keeps House PA PA
Elizabeth SPRING Sister S Female W 44 PA Works In House PA PA
Edward SCOUT SSon S Male W 16 PA Works On Farm PA PA
Peter SPRING Brother S Male W 39 PA Works On Farm PA PA
Edward SCOUT appears in 1900 US Census in Greenwood Twp., Columbia County as Edmond SCOUT, age 35, b. 1865, Shoe repairer, and wife Rebecca R, born Jan, 1866. Census data lists his "mother" Elizabeth SCOUT born in 1830 ? Also in this household, daughter Daisy B. is 3 years old and a daughter Sarah G. is 11 months old.
If his mother was Elizabeth in either or both decades of the census, I cannot locate where the surname SCOUT comes about for her.
The Pennsylvania 1910 Census Miracode Index again gives us Edward M. Scout, age 45, in Enumeration District: 0022 , Columbia Co., PA. Wife Roseanna R. age 44, b. Pennsylvania
Daughter, Daisy B. age 15 b. Pennsylvania
Daughter, Sarah G. age 10 b. Pennsylvania
Mother, Elizabeth Folk, age 75 b. Pennsylvania
In 1920 Census Bloomsburg, Columbia Co., PA, we find Edward SCOUT, listed as Age 50, widower, living alone, parents in PA, laborer. (193 West 9th Street).
Edmond or Edward SCOUT is later found in 1930
Edward SCOUT, Age: 65, Mount Pleasant, Inmate Bloomsburg Poor Farm.
And we find Daisy B. Scout, Age: 34, U.S. Federal Census: 1930 • Pennsylvania • Montour • Mahoning • District 13 (Inmate at State Hospital for the Insane).
We also have some differences in his wife's name--is she Rebecca or Roseanna or were these two different wives? No further sign of the daughter Sarah G. Scout.
Any info to help identify the SCOUT family group for this Edward SCOUT will be appreciated.

Virginia
