This is your Patrick Screen. He was the younger brother of my mother's (Erin Screen) grandfather John Screen. Patrick, Martin, and their younger brother James all emigrated to NO. My grandfather, their nephew James joined them in about 1912. He later returned to Ireland where my mother was born.
My grandfather Jim was godson to his Uncle Jim and godfather to Jim's son, James Patrick born april 6, 1914. All the Jim's were born on April 6th. My mother remained very close to all her NO relatives . I attended Jim's 5oth wedding anniversary in I believe 1990.

Pat and Katie Trainor's children would be first cousins to Jim- born 1914 and my mother born 1922.

I have a family tree prpared by Jim that I will find and send to you. It includes the Trainors.

I did this research quite a while ago so I have to dig it out of a box.

By the way the Screens still live on the same property in Windfield, Galway. Your Patricks grand nephew John Patrick Screen born 1930 is the current resident.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Patrick Screen Compact Disc #27 Pin #892292 Pedigree
Sex: M

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Event(s)
Birth: Mar 1864

Galway, Ireland
Death: 3 Jun 1946

New Orleans, Orleans, LA

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Parents
Father: Patrick Screen Disc #27 Pin #892144
Mother: Mary Fenaghty Disc #27 Pin #892231

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marriage(s)
Spouse: Catherine Trainor Disc #27 Pin #892302
Marriage: abt 1888

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notes and Sources
Notes: None
Sources: None

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Submitter
Tom GREEN
10666 West Loyola Dr Los Altos, CA 94024

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Submission Search: 788646-0328101200742
URL:
CD-ROM: Pedigree Resource File - Compact Disc #27
I have not seen the gedcom from Tom Green.(interesting abt the necessary name change). I don't know who JPS is in Baton Rouge. Screen is an indirect ancestry line of my husbands. But I would still like any info. I found a few Screens in the 1937 New Orleans phone book. Patrick Screen got injured in 1911 on a street car in New Orleans. Did Patrick and Catherine Trainor have 13 kids? Were there 2 sets of twin girls? I have some birth & death dates, but not a lot. I have an article about Patrick Screen that was in the St Landry Trade Review Dec 1896. I may have already typed that up and posted it on Rootsweb.

Patrick Screen (St Landry Trade Review-December 1896)

Patrick Screen (St Landry Trade Review-December 1896)

Situated on the corner of Washington and Dupre streets in this ever bustling town, is the general merchandising establishment of the subject of this sketch. Mr. Screen emigrated to America from the Emerald Isle in 1883 and for nearly a year resided in the State of Ohio; finding the opportunities offered in that State not so great as he had anticipated, he turned his eyes Southward, where he fouond in this city a place that had in store for all energetic and progressive men a handsome remuneration for their time and labor, together with unexcelled health. Mr Screen commenced as a clerk for his uncle, Martin Finnerty, and continued in his employ untill 1888, when he embarked on his own account. In the same year he married Miss Trainor and they are the happy parents of four boys and one girl. That Mr. Screen has succeeded is but putting it mildly. A man with the (unreadable), warm hearted disposition that he possesses, combined with his enterprise and liberality, cannot help but succeed in any business he might choose to follow.

My Screen family are mostly from the west country, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire (England) and surrounding areas. My Granddad Harry Screen was born in November 1909, to George Screen and Ettie (Mansfield) Screen. He was one of eight children, four boys and four girls. Harry Screen had 3 brothers Albert, Edward, and Regenald, and 4 sisters Annie, Lucy, Elsie and Dorothy. Is there anyone who's searching the family tree in that area or where these names might fit in?

I have some information on the Ireland Screens. I have been researching my own Afro-American Screens and have collected a good bit of information along the way. I can dig up some info if you would like to have it along with a few Screens doing research. Dorothy Jackson DJACK42875@AOL.COM

Tim,
You did not visit us last year, but you should have! I have recently been talking to your Uncle Marty and Aunt Erin in NJ, and your Cousin Katherine Screen Weilbacher in Baton Rouge. I am a Screen cousin and doing family research. My wife and I are going to Ireland on the 26th of August to see the old homestead and meet relatives. I know your father did some family research and would love to talk to you about it. You can reach me at tmgreen@batnet.com; phone 650-949-4536 (8am to 8pm); or fax at 650-949-5145. I live in Los Altos Hills (south of San Francisco about 35 miles), CA. I look forward to 'talking' more.
Best regards, your cousin Tom Green

From Co. Galway, Ireland to many U.S. states (CO,IL,KS,LA,MO,MT,NJ,NYNY,NJ, and more) about 1850-1890. Some also migrated to Scotland about 1850-70.
Get in touch so we can put all the Irish Screens together in one family chart. I'll gladly share my research results with you.
Tom Green (Screen)

Related to JP in County Galway

Tim,
Seems all Screens that once came from County Galway, Ireland are related in some fashion. My great grandfather Martin Vincent Screen migrated from Co. Galway to NY in about 1860. About 1867 he and his new family moved to Illinois. His first born, Thomas Francis Screen, left the family and moved to Montana about 1900 or so, and my father was born in Montana 1905. There is much more to this story.
Back to your question, I have not been able to connect Martin Vincent Screen to the other Screens in Ireland - yet! But am working on it, visiting every parish, library, archive, etc. My wife and I will be visiting JP and Bridie in Windfield. We are also visiting his brother Tom in Dublin, as well as some other Screen relatives when we get to London.
Am I related to JP - YES. Am I related to you - YES. Your uncle Marty told me that your father did some research on the family when he visited Ireland. I'd love to talk about this and maybe get a copy of it, as there may be more that will help me fill in my records. By the way, in my records, I have your father but not your mother or any of the children, including you. I'd like to have all this information. As I told your aunt Erin, one of these days I hope to have enough data and stories to write a book. Are you also researching the family? How are you on your efforts going?
This is a long reply. It might be better to email me direclty at tmgreen@batnet.com. Or I can phone you if that is better. My phone number is 650-949-4536.
I hope to hear from you soon. We leave for Ireland in two weeks.
Best regards,
Tom Green (Screen)
p.s. my grandfather was fired from the railroad in Montana because 1) he threw an inkwell at his boss, 2) was Irish where Irish were not welcome, or 3) both! He had to change his name so he could get another job on the railroad at the next town. On his marriage certificate he scratched out 'Sc' and wrote in 'G'. Hence I lost my Screen hertige before I was born!

I changed my name to SIDNEY ROYCE to pursue an acting career in my twentys, and to seperate my credit file from my mother's. When you reply, please Subject SIDNEY ROYCE or you may be junked and I don't want to lose you again.SsS
