I don't have any more on Charity than what shows up online. The only Scrivner pictures I have are those in Doris Collier's excellent book and a reproduction of the Remington statue "The Bronco Buster."
Unfortunately the historian on my maternal line had an idiot son who sent all the family photos and heirlooms to the dump when he sold his mother's home after her death.

Benjamin and Mary were married December 28, 1779 in Rowan County, North Carolina. He was a son of Benjamin Scrivner who immigrated to Pennsylvania from Bermondsey, Surrey, England in 1729 and was a Revolutionary War patriot.
Benjamin the younger was awarded 300 acres of land on the Rich Ford of Abbott's creek for his military service. He and Mary later moved to Georgia and then to Smith County, Tennessee, where he died in 1835. Mary died in adjoining Cannon County in 1839. They had at least ten children who survived to adulthood, one of whom was my 2d great-grandfather William David Scrivner.
Several of the sons migrated to Missouri and at least one to Illinois.

I believe that Judith Brooks was the mother of Benjamin and wife of John Scrivner of Bermondsey, Surrey, England. Benjamin emigrated to Pennsylvania and married first to Ruth Bradfield and next to the mother of most of his children. No researcher I have found has ever come up with her name but her son, Benjamin Jr., was a Revolutionary soldier who served in North and South Carolina. Several of Benjamin's children wound up in Missouri and one of them fathered my great-grandmother. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend the book on the descendants of Benjamin Scrivner by Doris Scrivner Collier.

Shelley,

That is correct. The younger Benjamin was born June 20, 1757 in Plumstead, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He therefore could not be the son of Ruth Bradfield who had died in 1752 or earlier.
In her excellent book, "The Descendants of Benjamin Scrivner," Doris Scrivner Collier reflects that Ruth died prior to 1751, that Benjamin remarried and that no record has yet been found of that second wife's name.
Doris' book shows James and Thomas as the sons of Ruth, then the younger Benjamin, David b. abt. 1756-58, and Mary b. abt. 1761.
If you have not seen Doris' book, I highly recommend it to anyone researching the Scrivner line. Like anything in genealogy it has a few inaccuracies, but those fall mostly in the later generations.
A problem for all researchers is that the Scrivers were a prolific lot and tended to use the same names for their children. It is very tough to determine which Benjamin, John or William is meant when looking at a census record created by a semi-literate enumerator polling people largely from the memory of the family member responding.
I just wish that America had started out with the Asian penchant for records keeping. People from China and Japan still send notices of births, marriages and deaths back to their "home" registry office for recording and amazingly complete family trees can be found in a single record book there!
And the fact that she lists Franklin Co Ohio as birth places for so many of her siblings I believe we must be distant cousins.
