Re: Missing Seaborns! - More information

More information has been found on the following Seaborns:
7. Thomas Seaborn (middle name Crisp, like his son) was born between 1829-1833 in the Boxted area of Essex, England. He died November 20, 1901 in Colchester, Essex, England. He married Hannah Chaplain (daughter of Nathaniel and Susanah, born about 1834 in Lawford, Essex, England; died February 14, 1910 in Colchester, Essex, England) on December 3, 1954 in Colchester.
9. Albert Seaborn was born October 6, 1885 at East Street, St. James, Colchester; and died May 28, 1937 at South Yarra, Victoria, Australia. He married Jessie Ellen Newman (daughter of Alfred and Elizabeth, born in 1886 in Colchester; died August 10, 1965 in Ascot Vale, Victoria, Australia) on September 3, 1906 in the Parish Church, Greenstead, Essex, England. They emigrated to Australia about 1913.
10. Harriet was born March 8, 1890 at East Street, St. James, Colchester; and died in the June quarter of 1978 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. She married George Collins on June 20 1908 in Colchester, Essex. She had 4 children that I'm aware of by 1939.
12 (should be 11). Jane was born July 9, 1894 at 1 Greenstead Road, St. James U.L.D., Colchester, Essex, England. She emigrated to Canada with her family in February 1913. She married Arthur Stevens (or Stephens) on May 30, 1914. At last record in 1943, they were living in Fort Erie.
13. Edith was born March 14, 1898 at 1 Greenstead Road, St. James U.L.D., Colchester, Essex, England. She also emigrated in February 1913. Edith married four times: to Sidney Anderson on February 4, 1915 (marriage subsequently annulled) in Ontario. She emigrated to New York, United States; then she married Stephen John Hart on April 16, 1925; then Daniel Molina; and finally Ernest Carrington. Edith died December 17, 1985 in New York.
14. Lily was born May 23, 1900 at 1 Greenstead Road, Colchester. She emigrated to Canada in February 1913. She married Frank Christie on September 22, 1917 and emigrated to the United States about 1918. She married F. Fisher and R. Rosler (I'm not sure of the order or their first names). Lily lived in New York and then California, where she died in 1959. Lily might have been an actress, an opera singer, or a Rockette.
15. Stanley was born on April 21, 1906 at 1 Greenstead Road, Colchester. He emigrated to Canada in February 1913. He emigrated to New York, U.S.A. after 1923. Stanley married a lady named Marjory and had thre children. Stanley died in April 1970 at Cherokee, New York.
16. Sidney was born on July 3, 1908 at 1 East Gates, Colchester, Essex, England. He emigrated to Canada in February 1913. He married Helen Richardson, and lived in Campbellford. He died on January 24, 1988; and Helen died on January 27, 1977.
17. Roseanna Gaskin Seaborn - I'm still trying to find out more information about her family, since she's an enigma. She was born between 1864-1967 (depending on the record) in Stowmarket, Suffolk, England; and died March 17, 1943 in Campbellford, Northumberland County, England. She emigrated to Canada with her children in February 1913 (her husband and one son emigrated in January 1913). She married Thomas Crisp Seaborn on January 20, 1884 at the Parish Church, St. James, Colchester, Essex, England.
If anyone has more information, I'd appreciate it.

The closest thing I have in my tree is a Frederick Seaborn born 1841 in Gloucestershire to parents Charles and Maria (Smith) Seaborn.

Given that Seaborn is not a common name and that the Seaborns in my tree were living in the Stroud area in the 1830s when your Frederick Charles was born, I suspect that there may be a connection.

You may want to look at "The Seaborn Family: 1650-1992" by Delma Seaborn Mink. There are quite a few Seaborns that I did not include in my tree. Good luck!

Hi, William:
Thanks for your message. I'm wondering if you have any information on your great-grandfather or great-grandfather.
The William Seaborn in my family tree was born about 1873 in Colchester; and married Julia Louisa Buckingham. William's parents were Thomas Seaborn (born between 1829-1833 in Boxted; died Nov. 20 1901 in Colchester) and Hannah Chaplain (born about 1834 in Lawford, Essex Cty.; died February 14, 1910 in Colchester). My great-grandfather is William's brother Thomas.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Jeanette

Hello, Luke! I read your posting with much interest. My full name is Alvin Hardeman Seaborn, Jr., and I have gone by Hardy all of my life. I would like to learn more about your findings about your ancestry...I am in Tennessee and have traced my ancestry back 200 years here and in Virginia before that...( I know of two Seaborn brothers who left Bristol, England for VA in 1636) I also have a book about some Seaborns in Gloucestershire. What else can you tell me about your (our?) ancestry?? Thanks

Dear Jeanette, I have discovered a Nathaniel Seaborn in my family tree from Ardleigh born around 1857. He married Louisa Parker and according to 1901 census they had Alice, Florence and Horace around the turn of the century. Louisa is a daughter of Isaac Parker from Great Barford, Beds (born 1827), my paternal 3 x great grandfather. My maiden name is Dean and Louisa's sister Isabella is one of my great great grandmothers. Is this linked to your family?
Regards, Carol Taylor

He was my 3x great-granduncle, brother of my 3x great-grandfather James Seaborn. His wife was Sarah <unknown>, and I have seven children for them, the four you mention plus Harriet (1837), Whitmore (1835) and Maria (1833). I have no record of Thomas' marriage. 1829 seems fairly firm for Thomas' birth year - he was listed as 12 in the 1841 census and 22 in 1851. My grandfather was James Seaborn Barr of Wivenhoe, and my living cousin has the middle name Seaborn. We may share a common xx-great-grandfather in James Seaborn (1766), father of Nathaniel Seaborn sr. I have 63 Seaborns in my tree, and would like to compare notes. Children include: Mary Ann (born about 1840), Nathaniel (born about 1828), Samuel (born about 1843), and Thomas (born about 1829).
I'm wondering if this Thomas (possibly born as late as 1833) married Hannah Chaplain.
Jeanette, I am glad to share with you what I have, but it doesn't sound to me like a match.

My JAMES WOOD SEABORN was a twin born 5 May 1789 at Bristol. Gloucester. He was christened 31 May 1789 at St. Nicholas Parish in Bristol. However, family records show he died in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

However, this James was the son of his father's (JAMES SEABORN born 1748) second marriage. His father first married Ann Davis and they had a son named James. This James was christened 10 Sep. 1777 at St. Thomas Parish, Bristol.

Good luck in your research.
