Wiseman-Sears-Ivins Family Photo?

I recently discovered this photo, and I am trying to identify the people in it. The young woman second from left in the second row is my great-grandmother Bernice Sears (Swanson). I suspect that the woman to her left may be her mother, Leone Holmes Wiseman (Sears, Ivins). If so, the man standing behind them may be Leone's second husband, Patrick Ivins, with the rest of the men being Patrick's brothers and father (Father: Cyrus Rush Ivins; Siblings: Charles, Orville, Richard & Julian). The young girl in the second row and the young boy in front might be Leone and Patrick's children, Eleanor Floye and John Cyrus Ivins. I cannot begin to guess the identify of the other child in the picture. All of these identifications other than Bernice are guesses, nothing more.

If anyone can confirm any of this speculation or has different suggestions, I would be so grateful to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

Dear David, thank you for answering me back.
We have William Riley Sears, born 1892 in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. His father William Riley Sears born 1840 in Cass, Clay co. Mo. His father William Riley Sears born 1820 in in Kentucky. His father William Sears born 1780 Virginia. And his father John Lewis Sears, born 1750 in Virginia.
I have a feeling your family could be decendents of William Riley's (born in Mo.) siblings, one was Rudolphas and the other was Ephriam, and Leander and ofcouse William Riley. William R had seven sisters; Rebecca; Nancy J; Sarah A; Margaret E; Mary; Louisa; and Lucretia. Louisa and Lucretia were twins.

I hope this helps some.

our best
Jack and Jo Anne Sears

It is interesting that there seems to be so much confusion about the Sears in Missouri. I can trace my family back to my great grandfather Lewis Sears, born in 1876 and died in 1931, in Tuscumbia, Miller Co., MO, but have not been able to discover any siblings or who his parents were.

I am also doing some genetic research and it seems that my family originated in Wales, Ireland or Scotland unlike the Richard Sears branch who came from England. I posted a list of names of family members buried in Miller Co., MO not long ago. I'm not sure if those buried in the Eldon cemetery are members of my family, but those buried in the Tuscumbia cemetery are. First names seem to run in families and my father's name was Earnest. There are also many Leslies and a few with Sebastian as a middle name. Some of the collateral surnames who married Seares are Wright, Peeler and perhaps Moore. I don't know if any of these names help.

I've also noticed that there is a branch of the Sears family who seem to have come to Missouri through the Kansas City area and another group who were in the Southwest. I can't find any connection to those who came from the Kansas City area, so there must be a Southwest MO connection.
Thanks,
David

lousears1
Jul 19 10:36 AM
Hi, I'm trying to determine if there is a connection between the Sears buried in the Eldon Cemetery of Miller co. and the Sears buried in the Tuscumbia Cemetery. Lewis Sears is my great grandfather and I have a great deal of information on him. However there is, at this time, no information about siblings or parents. He said that his father was Charles Sears and the family came from "back east." The following people are buried in the Eldon Cemetery:
Sears, Agnes M. (Thompson)
27 Sept. 1841 - 21 Dec. 1922
w/o Rufus A. - wed 26 Feb. 1861

Sears, Alonzo J.
1872 - 1947

Sears, Dora Phidelia
1904 - 1982

Sears, Eleanor Phidelia
1867 - 1920

Sears, Grace Mennell
1907 - 1946

Sears, John C.
1909 - 1973
h/o Ada M.

Sears, Letitia A.
1876 - 1938

Sears, Ralph H.
1906 - 1964

Sears, Rufus A.
20 Jan. 1838 - 21 June 1913
h/o Agnes M. (Thompson) - wed 26 Feb. 1861
The following people are buried in the Tuscumbia Cemetery:
Sears, Bertha J.
17 Sept. 1901 - 7 Feb. 1970

Sears, Bessie L.
25 Nov. 1904 - 8 Jan. 1975
side by side of Frank E.

Sears, Elnora A.
23 Oct. 1922 - 5 May 2000
w/o Ralph R.

Sears, Esther
1877 - 1940
same stone as Louis

Sears, Frank E.
19 Nov. 1907 - 28 Mar. 1976
PFC US Army WWII
side by side of Bessie L.

Sears, Herbert E.
1875 - 1953
Miller County records

Sears, Joe L.
1909 - 1956

Sears, Louis (my great grandfather, Lewis)
1876 - 1931
same stone as Esther

Sears, Mary M.
16 Sept. 1899 - 16 Dec. 1905

Sears, Ralph R.
8 Apr. 1917 - 21 Sept. 1971
h/o Elnora A.

If you have any relevant information, would you please contact me through Ancestry.com?
Thanks, David Sears

Searching for paternal Greatgrandparents

I am searching for the parents of my grandfather Samuel Lonnie Sears,b he was apparently born in the southwestern part of Missouri, possibly Senecca,Senath or Senate. There are no parents listed for him on any census', I have not retrieved a birth certificate for him yet. The information I do have came from my mother, she is now deceased. The family never spoke of my Ggrandparents, and I had a couple of aunts that became irritated when I asked them about them. So here goes- Samuel married Essie Victoria Hutchins in Craighead,Ark. in 1905. They had 5 children:Cethel Lonnie(uncle Pete)b.3-10-1906, d.1-29-1974 in Benton Harbor,Michigan, Alberta Phoebe b.1909, d.1993-1995 in St.Louis,Mo.,Ita Louise b.1908, d.?yr.she may still be alive, but lived in St.Louis and didn't have much to do with the family., Vernon b.1915,d.1974-1976 Memphis,Tennessee, and Ernest Franklin(my dad)b.6-11-1920, d.3-8-1990 in St.Louis,Mo. All the children were born in Nettleton,Arkansas. The only other info Ihave is what my mother told me. She said that there had been mention of a William or John and Mary, and thought these may be Samuels' parents but didn't know for a fact. I can not find any collaboration. She also mentioned the names: Alice, Robert,Andrew,Henry,Hannah(or Anna), O.B.(dont' know what that stands for), and Sallie(Sadie) and I seem to recall afew other names but my memory isn't QUITE as GOOD as it used to be. I have found out that my Ggrandmother had 3 brothers who were Andrew,Robert,Henry, and a sister Alice. I do have the marriage dates of a couple of my aunts and my uncle Pete. If anyone out there could give me a helping hand it would be greatly greatly appreciated!! I started this search by hand about 20 yrs. ago and kept running into the same problem. Thank You in advance for any info anyone may have!!!Dwyatw

SEARS/TATRO Chittenden County, VT 1850s

Recently I linked Mary Jane Sears, who married Henry Papineau about 1868, to Frank Sears and Sophronia Tatro, of Shelburne, Charlotte and Hineburgh Vermont. Other children for the couple included Electa, Joseph, Henry, Minerva and Lydia. Joseph and Henry MAY be the same person. I have managed to trace Sophronia's line back through records, but I;m stick on Frank. As a further point of information, in 1860 he lived right next to a George Sears, aged 24 to his 29 on the census - could be a brother.

Does this family ring any bells with anyone? Thanks.

To All People with the Surname of Kindig or who have a Kindig in their ancestry:

Your current surname, maiden name, or adoptive name may be Kindig. You may have a Kindig ancestry. You may be anywhere in the USA or the world.

You, could be a shirttail relative, a kissing cousin, share even a closer relationship or be no connection what so ever to my family tree.

I am trying to trace my genealogy. I have hit some blank walls. This is primarily due to name changes, incorrect dates, and geographic location and duplicity problems

In any event, I would like to try to clarify and verify as much family information as I can. Who knows what will develop in this family tree.

My name is Alan Samuel Kindig. I was born March 9, 1933 in Bethlehem Township (Butztown) PA. My father was Earl Morris Kindig born 1904 died 1996). My mother was Rose (Roselia) Tackas born 1910 died 1976. I have the following siblings:
Sylvia Agnes Kindig Groeger
Ronald Eugene Kindig 1934 1935
Sandra Paulette Kindig Pinkerton
Bruce Glenn Kindig
Bernardine Kindig Stevens

My Dads father was Weston Samuel Kindig. His mother was Tillie Benkhardt (Bankhardt). Beside Dad there was a daughter Pauline who died in infancy. Tillie and Weston divorced. She remarried to John P. Smith. (no children from this union) Weston remarried to Ruth (Ruby) Schaffer (Zigenfuss or Ziegenfus). Ruth brought a daughter Virginia Ziegnfus to the union.

Ruth and Weston had the following children:
Hilda Married Calvin Bartholomew
Isabell Married Albert Wessner
Emma Married Louis Mira
Alice Married Paul Gibson
Daniel Married Mary
Barbara Married Coit
Weston S Jr. had two wives who died
Earl Morris Weston’s son from first marriage.
Virginia Zigenfus Zigenfoos Kindig was Ruth’s daughter from her first
marriage. Virginia married a Jackson.
Daniel, Weston Jr., and Emma (Mira) still live. Barbara went to CA married a Coit and has totally dropped off the radar. The last anyone knows she did have a son.

Weston S. Sr. had a brother Morris. Morris was married to Emma. They had a son Billie and a daughter Mabel. No other information is currently available.

Tillie Benkhardt’s mother was Paulina Stoll Benkhardt. We have no information on father Frank Benkhardt other than he was in Allentown PA. Tillie’s sisters were Ida, Carrie, Gertrude, and Flora. I only knew Carrie and Gertrude. Flora and Ida were probably deceased by the time I came along

Daniel B. Kindig and Lena Kraus were the parents of Weston and Morris.

Daniel Kindig and Susanna Hively were the parents of Daniel B Kindig. It seems Daniel was taken by his family from PA to Milton Wayne OH. The children from this marriage beside Daniel B. were Christiana Shellabarger, John S. Kindig, William Henry Kindig, and Catherine Kindig. Christiana returned to PA in her later life.

Daniels father and mother were Daniel Kindig and Susanna Hively. This generation shows a transfer of residence from PA to Wayne OH. Children for this union are Lucy Ann, David, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Lydia, Susanna, and William Francis Kindig.

Daniel Kindig’s parents were Henry Kindig and Elizabeth Eshelman. It appears Daniel was the only child attributed to Henry and Elizabeth. This is as far back as the Kindig surname line goes. It takes it back to 1755. This is pre revolutionary war and Henry would have been in his twenties when the revolution occurred. We do not know if he was a revolutionary war solider or not. It seems he may have been a Mennonite. We are researching more on him through the Lancaster County Historical Society in PA.

On the Kindig grandmother side we have records going back to 1712. Because of the numerous listings I will just list the names that are in this tree and appear to be directly connected.
Leana Krauss
Susanna Hively George Hively
Elizabeth Eshelman Benedict Eshelman, Peter Eshelman
Susanna Weigel, Johan Leonard Weigel, Valentin Weigel, Johan Martin Weigel
Rosina Billmeyer, Jacob Billmeyer changed name from Johann Balmer (father of Jacob)
Christina Mayer
Helena Holtzender
Maria Funcher, Georg Funcher
Ann Dorothy Triddell Nicholas Triddell
Magdalena
Anna Stehman, Joseph Steinman note name change father to daughter
Frena
Frederick Stoll, Fredricka Stoll, Carolina Stoll
Dobelman
Barbara Herman
Fredricka Weiss, Fredian Weiss, John Wass
E Kienzle

If you come across Brian Kindig in CA, he is my nephew. He is my brother Bruce’s
son. He is also actively researching this ancestry.
I will greatly appreciate any thing you can add to enhance this ancestry. I am especially curious as to how Henry got to Lancaster County and what his roots are.

The following surnames are being shown in my list of kinship.
Alkirie
Bachman
Dietrich
Hemerman
Mosteller
The frequency and long listings of these names seem unrelated. However, if you can add any knowledge about these names and how they might relate to the Kindig list, please feel free to add your findings.

Thank you ever so much for your contributions.

Alan S. Kindig
alanandsharon@suddenlink.net
1303 Hemlock Drive
Greenville NC 27858
252 355 1859
Ebenezer Sears

I have a funeral card for Ebenezer Sears. It says he died 17 May 1889 at the age of 73 years, which means he was probably born abt 1816. The only Ebenezer Sears I could find in Anc.com was Ebenezer Crosby Sears who was born 15 June 1816 in Hawley, MA, the son of Alden Sears and Sarah Crosby. Husband of Cordelia Fales. Father of Albert and James. If you are related to him and want the card, let me know. No charge. - Patricia prock2@ec.rr.com

Moon Family

Hi Shelly,
We communicated several years ago regarding the Moon family. I believe it was you who sent me your genealogy on the "Descendants of John Henry Moon." I was curious as to whether you have updated the genealogy at all? I know that you discovered that Gladys Moon had brothers and sisters, and that they were separated after their parents died. Any more information that you discovered since you sent me the information? My gggrandfather was James Moon, father of Gladys. It was interesting that he had "2" families; did you know that he was married 3 times? His second wife was Lelia Nutting (spelled Silla Nutting by mistake), but they didn't have any children. She was quite a bit younger than he was, as was Phoebe Johnson. My ggrandmother was Alice Wilbur, James' first wife. Are you still researching the Moon tree anymore? Just curious as to what you are researching these days. You provided me with valuable information in the past. Thanks, Judean A. Wise

James Lawson Sears and Nancy Jackson Sears

I am looking for information on James Lawson Sears.

James Lawson Sears was born 1800 in Virginia, possibly Loudoun County.
