Stephen Sebastian Junior

I have not found any mention about Stephen Sebastian Junior son of the emmigrate Stephen Sr and Elizabeth? In a rent agreement with Wm. Fitzhugh in Stafford Co. Va. it states the family as being Stephen Sr, wife Elizabeth and son Stephen. The agreement states they may rent the land as long as they want to.
The records of St Paul's Parish of Stafford Co. Va. do not start until 1715. The number of years between 1676 and 1715 is 39 years. If Stephen Jr. was old enough to be mentioned in a land rental agreement by 1689 he would be at least 26 by 1715 but could be 36 yrs old by 1715.
I would like to know of any documentation that states what happened to Stephen Jr.
I am the great-great-grandaughter of Peter Sebastian. Does anyone have any information on Peter or his brother George? They were reported to have lived in Carlisle Pa during late 1800s and just before the turn of the century. It has been handed down through the family that George went to Canada. Any information please pass it on. It should also be noted that Peter married a Native American that went to attended the Carlisle Indian School.

Kathleen

This is my great grandmother, born 10/30/1870. She married George Leonard Frederick in Jessamine County, Kentucky on 1/4/1894. Her parents were James Morton Sebastian and Samantha A. Cates. Her grandfather was Wiley, Jr., and great grandfather was Wiley, Sr. I have been to the Sebastian Cemetery webpage (which is wonderful!), and it's been very helpful. I would love to know if anyone has any info (i.e. copies of marriage licenses, census info, etc.) to trade. I have a copy of George and Mary's headstone that's in Maple Grove Cem. in Nicholasville, and I have copies of their death certs. I think I also have their census info after they were married. Thanks! mike jmichaelfrederick@hotmail.com
P.S. I also have a copy of their marriage license, but it's kinda blurry.

Stephen Sebastian b)1655 or bef. d) 1713-1715 Stafford Co. Va

Stephen Sebastian was transported to Maryland and his rights were proved on 15 June 1675 [“The Early Settlers of Maryland by Gust Skordas p 409 / Liber 15 Folio 307 Maryland Court Records] In April of 1676 Stephen Sebastian witnessed the will of William Collier of Anne Arundel Co Maryland. [Prerogative Court Wills Bk 5 pp 42-44] That means he was of legal age. On 26 Sep 1689 William Fitzhugh Stafford Co. leased 50 acres farm ground to Stephen Sebastian which once was owned by James Ashton. The lease mentions Stephen’s wife as Elizabeth and his son as Stephen. No marriage record has yet been found for Stephen Sr. or Stephen Jr. I am trying to locate records that would either show that Stephen Sr. married in Maryland and his son was born in Maryland or a record that shows if he brought a family with him when he came to America and if so how many children he had. Documents show that Stephen Sr. was still alive in 1713 but when records for St. Paul Parish (Va) start in 1715 he is not listed in death records. So he died between 1713-1715. I am looking for documents that show if Stephen had more children than Stephen Jr. (who was live in 1689). The first Sebastian records in St Paul's are marriage records. I have not found a death record for Elizabeth or Stephen J. So there is a generation missing that needs to be found.

Surname "Bastian" is it connected to Sebastian

Does anyone know if the surname "Bastian" is another misspelling of Sebastian or a result of accents and poor spelling. I have been wondering if the Bastian surname could be Anthony Sebastian ancestors who went to Maryland before Stephen Sebastian came to America and who the census spelled Bastian.
Sebastian Birthdates before 1715 re Benjamin etc

It has been stated by Theresa in earlier posting that Benjamin was born in 1706, married Pricilla Elkins. Where did the birthdate for Benjamin come from? Where do I look for documentation? Laressa in eariler postings states that Benjamin is the son of emigrant Stephen Sebastian and Elizabeth. Where is found the documentation that Benjamin born in 1706 is the son of Stephen Sr and Elizabeth and not Stephen Jr. that is mentioned in a lease agreement in 1689. I would like some clearification on the subject.

Benjamin Sebastian

I am a descendant of Benjamin Sebastian born in 1706 and married to Pricilla Elkins in Stafford Co. VA 1729, both buried in Montpellier, Falls Church Virginia.Pardon me if this is redundant. But - They had 4 children: Nancy (m. John Read 1748), Elizabeth,, Behethliam, and Benjamin b. 1741 (my ancestor) (m. Amelia Broadwater). My Benjamin then had 8 children: Amelia (m. James Chambers 1768), Sarah, Mary, John (m. Chaterine Hinkle 1812), Anne (m. James Long 1808), William (m. Louise Strother), Jane, and Charles Benjamin (my ancestor)b. Louisville Kentucky 1790 (m. Elizabeth Murray 1821) Charles Benjamin had 12 children: Monia (m. Edward Willard), Jane Rodman (m. James M. White), John David, George Calhoun (m. Laura Bodie), Elizabeth E. (m. Allen Moore), Josephine Murray (m. George Aaron Hensd), Robert Felix, Sarah Sally (m. Addison Fisher), William Walker, Margaret E., Joseph Walker, and Charles Benjamin (my ancestor)b. Breckenridge Co. Ky (m.Ellen Frances Thrift 1865 from Vicksburg Mississippi). These Sebastians made their way to Mississippi, Texas, New Mexico and eventually to Canada (leaving me stranded in the great white north!). Has anyone traced Benjamin Sebastian back any further? Or can anyone recommend sources for more information on these individuals?

Adele was my Grandfather, Clarence Neils, second wife. I sent for a copy of her application for a social security number and it shows her father was Emil Sebastian and her mother was Mary Schneider. Adele and Clarence lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I believe Adele's last name by her first marriage was Neupert. Hope to hear from someone soon. Thanks!

Edwin Caldwell Sebastian KY>MO

Edwin Caldwell Sebastian was b) 13 Feb 1813 in Libertyville twp, St. Francis Co. Mo.
He is the son of Elisha Sebastian and brother of Jane Sebastian.

Apparently his father married a Caldwell woman probably back in VA. The Caldwell clan was in KY for a while before coming to Missouri. E.C. Sebastian was an attorney who handled the probate of James Caldwell, first Speaker of the House in the MO Legislature. They lived in St. Francois County, Missouri along the Mississippi River.

James Caldwell died about 1840 and in the 1850 census his wife, Meeke, was living with E.C. Sebastian. James and Meeke had no children of their own but the Sebastian children were given names prominent in the Caldwell families.

Seeking the connection of Elisha Sebastian to the Samuel Caldwell family of Virginia and KY.

If the Sebastians traveled with the Caldwells, they came from the Virginia valley to Greenbrier Co., VA, then to the Montgomery/Bath Co., KY area before moving to Missouri. Most of the Caldwells came to MO before statehood and the Sebastians may have also.

My great grandfather, Rosamore Pratt Sebastian, was married and had children while residing in CO in the late 1800's. He left CO and moved to MO where he married my great grandmother, Annie Belken, and they settled in St. Francois County. I have no information concerning my grandmother's half brother(s) and sister(s). I believe his other children stayed in CO because my grandmother had never met her half-siblings and had always wanted to. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Sebastian-Chicago

Just starting on this and don't have all the dates and names but am getting them soon. My grand mother was born Elizabeth Sebastian in Chicago, 1890's. Her father owned a tavern downtown along with his "maiden" sisters. Her father died when she was about 4. Her mother married a Johnston. Elizabeth Sebastian Johnston married Walter Dennis Erickson. Two daughters-Dorothy Erickson Liss(l),Joan Erickson Tornabene (l), three sons:
Lawrence, James and Donald (all deceased). Any one know of any Sebastians in Chicago?

Sebastians in Ohio

The Sebastians from my family are consistently found in Coshocton Co. and Hancock Co., OH. It is possible that some might have moved to Cincinnati, but I know of no one who did that. Instead, when they leave Hancock Co. I find them in Michigan, or Iowa or even Colorado or possibly Indiana. I could easily have overlooked a branch, however. Who are the earliest ancestors you have found when were they there? Mine are William Isabella Sebastian in Coshocton Co. until about 1839. Their son George wife Jane Sebastian married had 3 children in Coshocton and then moved to Hancock Co. where they stayed and had more children from the early 1830s to their death in the 1870s. They have lots of descendents. Do you see a connection?
Jean

Margaret Sebastian in VA

Does anyone know where Margaret Sebastian went in 1861 after she left husband John Henry Redman? King George, VA; they had 4 kids. She had a brother William. Our understanding is the land was Sebastian, not Redman. He remarried had 4 more kids. Descendents found in King George Westmoreland Counties.
