Not sure if you're still looking for this info or if it's even for the same person, but August W. Seemann b: 6/16/1847 in Germany, d: 2/21/1907 in Columbia Co. Wisconsin. Married Evestina(aka Tena) Julia Koekbe on 8/14/1878 in Columbia Co. Wisconsin. Tena's b: 03/1885 in Germany d:??. From the 1900 census (where the name was shown as Seemen) they had 4 children listed: Laura b: 04/1881 in Wisconsin d:??; William b: 12/1883 in Wisconsin d:??; Tena born 09/1886 in Wisconsin, d:??; and Edward b: 6/9/1889 in Randolph, Wisconsin, d:??. My records show Edward married a Minnie b: abt 1893 in South Dakota. They had a son named Willis August Seemann b: 6/7/1914 in Randolph, Wisconsin, d: 5/4/1967 in Waupun, Wisconsin.

Thank you, I'd be very interested in what you have learned, and especially the documentation of it, that is, where you found the information. We have always liked to have documentation and to cite our sources. We also would want to cite you as a source to give you credit for your research if at all possible, that is, if we ever were to write this up on a gottschee or gearhart/wittine related website. (we did this for our Waller ancestry as you can see at www.jocelynwaller.info, an extensive review of our Waller ancestry. We document our sources for every link, or its reported as suspect.)

My g-grandmother was Anna Wittine from Rieg. Her parents were George Wittine and Helena Schnieder. I traced the Wittine's back to the late 1700's

I found this in an archive. Anyone still interested in Wittine from Gottschee? John Wittine is my ggf (b. 1866) and his father John was if I recall correctly was born 1834 or so. I would very much like to touch base.

I was doing my usual search on Ebay for family bibles, and came across the following:

Potter & Co.; 10" x 13" x 3.5" thick; 1588 pages, corners and edges rubbed, VG, clean, binding sound, hinges intact. Gilt stamped spine, beautiful Gothic Revival blind embossed tabernacle on both covers; fine calligraphic ownership on front blank, in blue-gray and yellow inks: "Der familie Jonathan & Angelina Seeman, Ober Bern...27th Marz des Jahrs 1877", and an extensive Family history on 5 decorated leaves, in equally fine penmanship and calligraphy in blue and red inks.

I thought there might be someone on the Seeman board who may be interested in looking into this bible.

Esther Seeman, 95, of McIntosh passed away Nov. 2.
She was born April 2, 1909. Esther was an avid horsewoman who trained horses and riders for 35 years. Born in Trinidad, Colo., she was raised in Clayton, N.M., lived in California, New Jersey and Michigan and retired to New Mexico.
She left no surviving family.

We have no info. on Frederick's family as to his siblings. He is my husband's grandfather. We only have a list of his children & wife's name. All of his children were born in Akron so would be interested in any info. you might have perhaps making a connection.

Heinrich "Henry" Seeman arrived in CA for the Gold Rush, and married Marianne Gauchat from Switzerland. The census shows him as being born in Mecklinburg, Germany in 1827. They had nine kids, and many descendents. He died in Rail Road Flat CA in 1892.

Is anyone else researching this line? Any idea who his parents were?

A Celebration of Life will be at a later date here in Green Valley and back in Iowa in the spring, with private burial at Woodward.

Yes I have all the info on each one of them, they have all pasted. Walter died in May of 1999 and Ellen in March of 1995.
Charles Oct. 1973, Ruth Feb. 1970, Marg April 1947, Fred April 1971, All 4 of the girls are gone but, I do not have the dates.
Walter was my grandfather Ellen my Grandmother. My mother is Darla. Any info on James or Daisy would be greatly welcombed. I have gotten several responces but, no one has sent me info. I was emailing with a man named Thomas that said that he workded with Walter at the Company store that Benton ran.He gave me some insight on my grandfathers life when my mother was just born. Please email me at thebuilders@mindspring.com I will give you more info. I have some pictures of daisy that you might like a copy of. I do not have any pictures of James though.

Read your message of last year to Paula Thayer. I replied to her once but received no answer. Jim and Daisy Seeman lived in Isabella as did I , Jim was my great uncle. brother of Edward Keenan Seeman, my grandfather. I grew up;with Walter, Charlie,
Phoebe, Erma and Florence, but know nothing of them now. I have been trying to track down Frederick Seeman' s ancestors in Germany but no luck. Do you know any thing about them? Rebecca Weimer has a good family history that goes back to Hans Georg Weimer born in Germany on

I say Gottschee, Austria meaning that's what they considered it at the time, although now that same area is definitely a part of Slovenia. Yes I have heard of many records being destroyed, but I always keep an eye and ear open for anything that may match up with another family... sometimes families keep real good records of their own, and one never knows when they'll run into a long lost distant relative who may know more than I! If my informations are correct Magdalena Wittine is not from Gottschee in Austria but Gottschee in Slovenia and all records of her past were lost in the fire of the church records in Kocevje(Gottschee).

I am also looking for any info. on the Seeman name. My grandmother was Anna Seeman and married Joseph Amrein (From Switzerland) in 1888. They married at St Marys Church in West Point Nebraska. They had 10 children. Her sister Christina Seeman married a Adolph Butchen that was a close friend of Joseph and they came from New York together after landing in the US. My grandmother Anna died in the 1918 flu in Nebraska. I don't have any other info on her. Any connections?

Their first three children were born in Gromaden, Posen Province, Prussia. You might look there for the marriage record. The family belonged to the Evangelical Church (protestant).

I use to do genealogy years ago, but stopped about 10 years ago, but it still is one of my great loves and hobbies, when I have time. I am in dire need of lacating a Franz Wittine who lived in Belle Haven Ct. in the mid 70's. He was born July 29th, 1914 and died Jan, 28th, 199, in Walden, Orange Co,. NY.
I'm trying to locate Franz's obituary, but being from East TN., I have no knowledge of the library systems or papers in NY. I would really like to know if he had any family left. I'm thinking he had a sister that he lived with before his death.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Paula, I have a Charles Sigwalt Seeman in my line he was born to James Edward Seeman and Daisy Mea Jones Seeman on May 15,1916 in Fayette co. Pa. in Connellsville. I am wondering if we are related in any way. My grandfather was the twin to Charles S. Seeman. His name was Walter Umbel. There middle names were after the doctor that delv. them.
