I have very little information about James Seery except he and his family were in Washington, Owen, Indiana during the 1880 census. He was born in Ireland in 1828 (I don't have a clue to his parents names). Family stories say he came to the US to hire out to fight a war, whichever side would hire him, but when he got here the war was about over so he settled in Indiana. He married Nancy Ellen Wood who was born in Indiana in 1845. In 1880 he was listed as a day laborer, he had two children, Katherine age 5 and John (my grandfather) age 3. I knew John's sister Mary but don't know if she was born after 1880. I believe the family stayed in Indiana, I know there were some relatives in Bedford we visited one time but I am not sure how they were related. I have considered the possibility that Katherine was Mary Katherine. Mary married an Irishman named Pat Dugan. They lived in Indiana until they died. I haven't been able to find any record of them but I visited them in Indiana in 1950. John married young and had two children but the wife and children died in an epidemic and he left the state and moved to Cartage, MO where he married my grandmother in the early 1900s. He was a foreman in a stone quarry and later moved to Batesville, AR to be forman at a quarry in Phieffer, AR. His marriage certificate to grandmother said he was born in Ramona, Owen County Indiana May 23, 1977. Grandfather never talked about his family but family stories say they were Catholic and he read the bible through by the time he was 12 and converted to Protestant. He was a very bright man. Let me know if you have infor. on any of these people. I have hit a brick wall. Thanks!
