Mark,

That is so sad. I'm sorry he was upset, that certainly was not my goal. My sister and I have been working for many many years trying to fill in the holes of our Seery family line for our grandmother. We've filled in a lot, but still have a few unanswered questions.

Do you know anything you could share with us. We have a ton of information we are most definately willing to share with you.

Email me at my personal email vermontdarcy@aol.com.

Respect and regards,
Darcy

Yes, I am related to Ethel Moad.
She married my uncle Patrick (Tom) Seery who died at Bowral in the Southern Highlands where he was born.
"Tom" was the son of James Patrick Seery my grandfather.

Regarding the relationship of the original Thomas and Michael who arrived (1860 & 1861) in Australia - I have yet to see the proof they were brothers as they appear to have been linked as brothers only been assumption.
I am well aware they were both Police Officers in the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) prior to emmigration but their papers indicate they originate from different, but close, areas of Ireland

Ariane,

I am a descendent of Thomas Seery bc 1828 in Ireland and who emigrated to Australia in 1860. On arrival he sponsored Michael (younger) Seery's travel to Australia (arrived 1861). I am yet to find definitive proof that they were brothers but it is accepted that Michael's parents were Michael Seery and Anne Cowley of Dublin. Both Thomas and Michael were Constables in the first intake of the newly formed New South Wales Police Service (1862) but left to farm the land.
They married the Limond sisters (from Scotland) and had very large families. Thomas's will mentioned both a brother John and also a son named John.

Due to the very large number of Seery families in Ireland with a majority moving to America, Canada and some to England it has been hard to trace the families here in Australia

I am aware of Seery families currently living in Ireland and descendents of both Thomas ande Michael in Australia. There is another local Seery family that came to Australia in 1835 and others that live in other states of Australia but nearly all arriving from Ireland

If you require more information you might email me direct on terryfs@ozemail.com.au
James Seery, Rose McGuire

I am looking for my mother's family from Ireland. I have several names, but I've come up with dead ends. James Seery was born in Ireland in 1866 and Rose H McGuire was born in Ireland in 1868. They immigrated around 1880 and married in New York or New Jersey in 1883. They both died in Ontario (James 1942, Rose 1926). Their daughter, Mary Rose Seery, was born in New Jersey in 1892 and married Frank Hyatt from Indiana. Mary Rose died in San Diego in 1950. Parents of both James and Rose were born in Ireland and died in Canada or the US. I have a few more details, but not enough to find out James's and Rose's grandparents, whom I supposed died in Ireland. Any help would be very greatly appreciated!

Minetta,
Over the last 20years I have had contact with a number of people researching "Seery" from Ireland and when I found they were researching other than MY DIRECT Seery line I did not keep the email addresses.
However, I remember a few names and one person fully involved in a re-union of Seery (Crookwell) descendents was Coleen Levett (COLEENLEVETT) stored on the SEERY message board.
Another was a Peter Gray of New Zealand also on this message board.
You might seek out those messages on Ancestry.com.au so that you can make contact with those that have a comprehensive list of Seery (Crookwell) descendents.
The further you go without making contact with those who have already done the "leg work" will mean that you will uncover many, many, many Seery(s) that are NOT related.
I have met other Seery descendents in Ireland that appear not to be related to my ggrandparents.
I visited Crokwell and Pejar and searched cemeteries in that area before finding that family was not related.

Should you not obtain the necessary information from the researchers I have mentioned and need further assistance I will look back into my information (full large filing cabinet)to seek out names for you to check with.
Terry
Minetta,

The family you refer to in Crookwell (Pejar near Goulburn, New South Wales) does not appear to be connected to my family. Your family arrived in the 1830's and my family arrived in Australia in the 1860's

The Crookwell family has been well researched, Are you across the information gleaned by others of your family?

If not then I can go back into my records and provide you with information particularly as there was a re-union of family members at Crookwell within the last year

Terry Seery
Hi Robert, I am a great great grandson of Simon Seery. He had 3 children, that I know of, James, John and Ellen. I am a great grandson of James and my Mother was Mary Seery. There are many other descendats in Ireland. I have a full history of the Seery family in Ireland, and would be delighted to share the information with you. I live in Dublin now, but grew up near the Blue Ball. I go New York city occasionally and will meet you in person if you want further information or feel free to contact me on carthageminnock@gmail.com.
I was delighted to find your post, but I know this is a very late reply.
Best Wishes,
Carthage Minnock

Darryl,

There are two separate "large" Seery families residing in New South Wales, Australia and both descendents of a Michael Seery (not the same one)
The first (Michael) arrived in the 1830's as a convict and resided in the Central West Highlands
The second (Thomas) arrived in 1860/1 and sponsored a Michael to Australia in 1861 and resided Southern Highlands
Both had been in the Roayal Irish Constabulary
More Seery families arrived in other states with what appears to be a predominance in Western Australia

I know those arriving in the 1830's and residing at a place called "Pejar" near Goulburn have been well researched but I am also aware there were already individual SEERY members already in Australia by 1830

I suspect you are located in Australia so you may be able to indicate which State the family may have resided

"Martin Fullum had one daughter named Mary Ann Hannom (nee Fullum). Mary Ann married and had one daughter, my grandmother Bridget McAuley (nee Hannon)"

What is very interesting here is your father's age of 81 years. This is the longevity "Fulham gene" most male Fulham members have an average of 86 years, The female members live into their 90's. Irrespective of the spelling all Fulham members have the same DNA and family gifts.

Martin Fullam(etc) is a City of Dublin surname yet it was found in the 1800's in County Kildare when a Martin Fullam died in poverty. He was a Land Agent and he was attacked by local Fenians and crippled of course the landlord done nothing for him or his children.

It is also found in my family of 1800's County Longford that Martin was also employed as a Land Agent whether it is the same person I do not know as the above story is hearsay via a New York family member.

There is a family in New York City and New York State descended from the Martin Fullam of the City of Dublin Liberties 1849 (New York City) Their relatives are still found in the very same area where the NYC FAMILY LEFT IN 1849.

Your father may be pleased to know he can read of his 900 year Fulham family history on our Fulham Fullam family site found under genealogy on google. look for Fulham Fullem Fullam Fulm family. We have reunited 65 families internationally and all our family members are welcome to join our membership.
I have some information on Bridget Seery, as she is my great, great grandmother.

From my recent research through Ireland records, she married Martin Fullum (date unknown) and had one daughter (that I know of) named Mary Ann Hannom (nee Fullum). Mary Ann married 'unknown so far' and had one daughter that I know of, my grandmother Bridget McAuley (nee Hannon) who married my grandfather Charles Davey McAuley.

Charles and Bridget had five children born in the US, one being my father James George McCauley (name changed at Immigration in NYC).

James George McCauley has three children, one being me James Anthony, and I live in Manhattan.

I can give more info if curious. I'd like to know what you find out as well as my dad recently is requesting this information, hence my research. He's 81 years old and his mom's Bridget McCauley (nee Hannan) birthday is this Sunday.

Thanks
