Seiders in Lancaster, PA

My name is Daniel Seiders. I'm looking for information on my great-grandfather William C. Seiders born about 1874 in Lancaster, PA. He later married Ethel Andrews in Buffalo, NY in 1907, but she was born in Beaver Meadows, PA. He had a previous marriage but I don't know his first wife's name. His parents were William Seiders and Hattie McCloud. Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Not much help, I'm afraid. I have a William Tracey Seiders b. 29 SEP 1876, m. Mary E. ?, with a son William b. 29 Mar 1901. I think this is from a census, more than likely in Reading, but I don't have notes for this entry so I can't say when.

1831 or 1860? I'm confused. I found listings in seperate censuses that have variations of Linneaus, one who is 18 in 1850, another who is around in 1930. Both are in Reading, PA. What I have in my family tree is Linneaus, son of Daniel Seiders & Mary Yeager, born 1831, with wife Lizzie Rhoads and Daughter Ada. Lizzie and Ada are in the 1930 census and far too young to be related to the Linneaus born 1931.

Is there a Linneaus Jr?

It seems from your posts that you have amassed quite a bit of information on the Seiders surname. Would you have any knowledge of a John Wesley Seiders of upper Dauphin County, PA. That would include the Halifax, Matamoris, Millersburg, Elizabethville, Powells Valley, Fisherville, etc. areas. John W. b. Nov 13, 1856 POB ? d. Apr 2, 1941, m. Mary Ellen Chubb (my mother's namesake) he had 3 children: Walter J., Cora L. and Harvey John (my grandfather). I would like to know parents and other ancesters, siblings, dates of birth and death, burial locations, and any other information available, for both John Wesley and his wife. Harvey's only surviving daughter (my aunt) seems to think the family may have origins in eastern PA, possibly Lancaster County area, but; she has nothing to support the hunch, it's pure speculation. Would you have anything to offer or do you have any suggestions or direction?

You did not say where you were searching records in PA. My mother's maiden name was Seiders, although probably no close relation to your family. She was form Dauphin County PA, one of 3 daughters of Harvey John Seiders and Elizabeth
Davidson Sible. Harvey's father was John Wesley Seiders I don't know where he was born or the names of his parents, siblings, and other ancesters. My Aunt has a theory that John W. may have come frome the east of PA possibly the Lancaster County Area. If you would have any information that might help me, of if you think I may be able to help you let me know. Thank You

The decedents of Solomon M. Seiders are as follows: Solomon and his wife Jeannette/Jennie/Jane Moore had 2 children: Joseph (my grandfather) and William. William (according to his death certificate) died at the age of 9. Solomon M. Seiders died according to his death certificate it lists PRR. My grandfather Joseph married Helouise Jones and theie children were: Elizabeth Jeannette (went by the name Jeannette), Lydia, Eleanor, Raymond (went by the name Pete, Harold, and my mother Frances. They only ones that are still living are my mom and her brother Raymond. I hope this has helped you. Jeannette Moore Seiders had remarried after Solomon was killed/died, and her 2nd husband wanted nothing to do with my grandfather Joseph so he was a ward of the State of PA. Jeannette's Parents were Joseph A. Moore and Angeline last name unknown. Please get back to me if you need anyother information. Jeanette Here is a picture of Solomon M. While visiting family here in PA, had an oppurtunity to spend time at the Register of Wills. I wish I had a week instead of a day. Made a xerox of the handwritten Last Will & Testament for Jacob b. 1709 (for those scoring at home, it was originally SEITTER) in 1782, along with an Inventory (he was worth roughly 25 pounds at his death) and what seems to be a document establishing his debts were paid and wishes carried out.

Also dove into the Birth Records...will probably have some questions once I sort out what I can...

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Kelly Lynn Seiders, 23, of RD 2, died Monday, Aug. 25, 1997, in an automobile accident in Exton, Pa., while on his way to work.

Born Aug. 11, 1974, in McConnellsburg, he was the son of Roy L. Seiders of Philadelphia and Sharon Seiders of RD 2, McConnellsburg.

He attended Allegany Community College, Cumberland, Md., for two years.

He was employed by RONCA Construction, Allentown, Pa.

He played on the H.J. Culler softball team.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his stepfather, James L. DeShong Jr. of McConnellsburg; his fiancee, Wendy Everetts of McConnellsburg; one sister, Katrina Marshalleck of Fort Lewis, Wash.; one niece; and his grandparents, Jim and Eunice Hawbaker of McConnellsburg.

He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Doris Hawbaker.

There will be no viewing.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church, McConnellsburg. The Rev. Donald Bard and the Rev. Loy Garber will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg.

Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., Harrisonville, Pa.

There was a Charles Seiders born 1874-1875 to Michael Seiders born 8-1842, as shown in the 1880 census, Heidelberg Twp., Lebanon Co., PA. I have several Charles Seiders in my database but he is the only one who matches. The 1910 census, Reading City, Berks Co., PA, shows a Charles H. Seiders of the same birth years. He married an Emma N.(Norma??) in 1897-1898. They had a son James H. born in 1900, who had a son James C. born in 1924.

Michael Seiders was the son of John Seider b. 1808, son of J. Jacob Seider b. 1778, son of Johannes Seider b. 1753, son of Jacob Seider b. 1709 in Wurtemberg. I can send all the details of this as a GEDCOM file or, if you cannot read that, as paper copy if you will give me your address.

Solomon M. Seiders (1862-1887) was the son of Solomon L. Seiders 1823-1862/1870. His mother was Jamima Flemming b. 1830-1831. In the 1870 census, Reading, Berks Co., PA, after Solomon L. had died, she is indexed as Gemima Luders, and this makes it difficult to follow the family down through time. Solomon L. was the son of Ludwig Seider b. 1793, he was the son of Johannes Seider 1753-1829, and he was the son of Jacob Seider b. 1709 in Wurtemberg and died 1782 in Berks Co., PA.

I can provide full details. I would like to know the descendants of Soloman M. Seiders.

I have a Joseph Seiders born 7/4/1810 in Reading, PA. He married Eliza Keifer in 1833 in PA. They had 11 children: Rosanna , William H. Louisa, Cornelia, John, Philip Jacob, Mary A., Eliza, Cassaline and two unkowns.

I believe he lived in Shaffer's Town, PA at one time, moved to Richland Cty, Ohio in abt 1835 and then to WI. Rosanna, my g-g-grandmother was born in Ohio in abt 1852.

I have traced a branch of my family tree to Seiders of Pottsville, PA.

My 3rd great grandfather was Jonathan Frank of Dauphin Co, His sister was Ann who married Joseph Seiders, a dentist in Pottsville between 1860 -1880. They had a few children. The one I remember now id George who was a warden of the local prison in 1900 and recorded as such on the census. Jospeh died around 1880 and Ann after 1900. George is recorded on 1910 living at the prison with his daughter Clara b abt 1880.

I missed wrote before Annabelle Frank (b. Dec 1822 in Dauphin Co., PA) was a sister of Jonathan Frank who married Mary McCreary and Emanuel Frank who married Rebecca. Her parents are unknown at this time.

The following information comes from the HISTORY OF BERKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA book
There's a full Biography on Henry SEIDERS and gives the names of many family members. I hope this helps someone.

Lewis SEIDERS married Mary (LEVAN). And their children were Isaac, Lewis, Soloman, Benjamin L., Jackson, John, Emma who married Mahlon G. HOYER, Caroline who married Reuben Breish.
Lewis SEIDERS died at the age of 76.

Benjamin L. SEIDERS b. 1-19-1826 in Reading, PA, d. 9-11-1861 in Reading, PA (It does not mention Benjamin's wife's name) but his children were, Katie (married to John W. RINGLER), Mary A. (married to Henry ADAMS), and Henry E.
Henry E. SEIDERS married Amanda Emore 4-11-1868, Daughter of Frederick and Caroline (Grant) Emore and Henry's children were Henry F. (married to Ida Rohrbach), Samuel W. (married to Fianna Clark), Israel E., Ammon O. Benjamin died when 7 yrs old.
And Henry E and Amanda are also rearing two of their grandchilren, Charles H. and Benjamin F. Seiders.

I do not have any more info on these family lines, but am willing to send via email a copy of the entire biography.

I was born in Alexandria City Hospital, Alexandria, Va. in November, 1938 and adopted in 1945. My birth name was Seiders but I do not know who my biological parents were. I know my dad died in a railroad accident in 1938 before I was born and he was born in 1912. My mother died in 1984 and was born in 1910. I suspect her name was Margaret but have not been able to prove that for sure. I do know there were other siblings and have been told that some of them are still alive by Alexandria Social Services. Alexandria Social Services could not locate a death certificate on my father. Any information regarding the family name of Seiders in the Alexandria area of that time would be appreciated.

I'm not sure how I can help, but I am from the Pottsville area. My grandmother Sherry Seiders owned some land on what we call the Gordon Nagle trail but sold it in the recent years. My father is Ronald Seiders, Sr.

I am a decendant of Solomon Seiders (he's my g/g/grandfather he married Jemima Flemmings (Flemings) and Solomon was in the Civil War as well and his wife received a pension They had a son also named Solomon and his son Joseph was my grandfather he was a ward of the state of PA because when his dad died (Jeannette/Jennie) had remarried and he husband couldn't/didn't want to take care of him after she died and Joseph's brother William had died at the age of 9. He is my g/g/grandfather and he marries Jemima Flemming (Flemings), They had a son who's name also was Solomon M Seiders (my g/grandfather) this Solomon married a Jeannette (Jennie Moore) and they had 2 children a William & Joseph, Joseph was my grandfather and he married my grandmother Helerlouise (Jones) and settled in NY. Hi. My maternal grandmother was a Cora Seiders born in 1893 her Father was "I think" George Seiders, born about 1859 in Berks county his wife was Laura. My grandmother was married to Beverly George Hatch in Altoona , Blair county, but was killed in a fire about 1922 when my mother was about eight years old, George apparently worked for the Pa Railroad for a time
