Hello everyone,
I am hosting the Seldon Family Reunion this year in Atlanta, and I truly would love to connect with all the family members.
I am the Daughter of Naomi(Copeland)Seldon and Grandaugher of Shedrick & Angelene (Chester) Seldon. I very much want to complete a Family tree for the reunion this year and invite all of our un-known at this time relatives.. I'm hoping that we will all get to meet this summer. Okay here's what I know.. Shedrick Seldon was born around 1868 and Angelene 1871, they had 18 children. They for the most part settled the family in Muscogee, Harris, and Chattahoochee county which is around Columbus, Waverly Hall and Upotia Georgia. Shedrick was a Primitive Baptist Minister, and He had 3 brothers..(I think) Meshack , Abednego and Paul. I've been told by the elders in the family that our family name at one time (during slavery) was Hickey
however once slavery was abolished our Grandfathers elected to drop the slave name and take the Family name of Seldon..
I think that Uncle Abedenego settled in the Atlanta Ga. Fulton county area, Uncle Paul I don't think ever married but traveled extensively, and I'm not sure where Abedenego settled or if there were Sisters. Now here is where I'm hoping someone can shed a little light, I've also been told that originally we were sold in the Virginia area, to the Seldon's who later sold us to the Hickey's in the South. I' I have the names of all of the 18 children and their spouses, (those that married). My Mother always told us that our Grandmother, Angelene was an Indian. I know I've shared a lot however I'm hoping that some of you will hear a familiar ring somewhere in this story and Post back to me.
