Just searching the internet for old friends and I typed in your dad, Bill Selley. I dated your dad, when he lived in Atlanta, for several years before he went to Vietnam. Often wondered how he is doing and pleased to see that he has a daughter! Please give him my best and I hope life has been wonderful for your family. I knew your grandfather, Bill's stepmother and Vicki....she was just a little girl at the time. I never met Bill's mother, I believe she lived in Tennessee and was not involved very much in her children's lives. Please say hello to Bill for me and good luck on tracing your heritage.......Judy Leamon Suggs

Re: William Selley, Mary Ann Huxtable

I've been a subscriber to Ancestry for more than a year but this is the first time I have been on the Community section. Mary Ann Huxtable, born 1808, (married William Selley 16 Dec 1831 at Halberton, Devon)is the eldest sister of my 2x great grandmother, Elizabeth Huxtable, born 1814, (married John Ashton 31 Aug 1833 at Halberton). Both are the daughters of Anthony Huxtable and Ann Perham, whose other children are: Jane born 1810, William born 1812 and Christian born 1817. There is also an Anthony but I have not found his christening.
Ann Parham (sic IGI transcribed index) was five months pregnant with Mary Ann when she married Anthony Hustable (again sic IGI index) at Stoke Damerel, near Devonport, Plymouth, by banns, where he was stationed with the Devon Militia. Anthony's wife/widow is traceable throughout the UK censuses. There is a little more information available than is needed for this initial contact but it seems we are more than likely distant cousins.

I am the daughter of William Arthur Selley 3rd. Son of William Athur Selley 2nd, and so on - I live in Kansas City and am very intererested to learn more about my heritage. I have had limited contact with the Selley side and would love to learn more. When Henry Selley said he lived in Florida, it made me think we may very well be related, as my Grandfather and great Grandfather lived in Florida for many years. My Grandmother was Juanita Parkison until her marraige to my grandfather. They werer married in Tennessee, I beleive in the late 1940's - Dec 27th to be exact - they had 2 children Vcki and William

William Selley, Mary Ann Huxtable

I have found a William Selley married to Mary Huxtable in 1832 in Halberton, Tiverton, Devon. I am not positive that they are the couple that I am trying to research who have the same exact names, except for wife's name being Mary Ann, not just Mary. They had a child, Emma Huxtable Selley in October 1840 in Horsefair,(probably now called Avon), St. James parish,Bristol. I assume there were several other children born between those two dates. Emma married James Farthing in Plymouth and settled in Stonehouse. If anyone has any further leads on this line of Selleys; Mary Ann's father, Anthony Huxtable; any other siblings of Emma as well as the date of Emma's death and burial site, it would be very much appreciated. I have nothing to link individual names when I come across other similar dates and names.

No I haven't been able to contact your dad; as I hadn't been able to until now; as you have supplied me with his e-mail address. I really thank you for that. I will be e-mailing you personally; as alot of information we perhaps can share would be considered private within the family. I don't know how you feel about that, but, I had a bad experience thru family search with someone and do not wish to contact him again, nor he contact me. I
.
I have limited what I put on the reply and inguiries in ref. to my dad's side of the family, because of what I had previously mentioned.

Thanks - Miriam

Ward Selley Lindley

Harold, this is really reaching. I have never been able to research my husband's family because we knew so little. My husband was Bayard Thomas Lindley b. 1940, CA son of Bayard Ellwood b. Iowa son of Ward Selley Lindley married to Edna Robinson. One would think that Ward's mother was a Selley by his name. I notice that most Selleys seem to have gone to Salt Lake. Do you know of any in Iowa? Just thought I would take a chance.
