Hi
I am researching the Sheffield Flood (12th March 1864) and am trying to locate the graves of as many of the victims as possible, with a view to then further researching their family line.
One of the poor victims was Samuel SEYNOR or SENIOR from Hillsborough who died at the age of 26. Joseph Dyson lived at the first house in Brick Row at Hillsborough with his wife, 5 children, his brother, an apprentice called Richard Snape and a lodger named Samuel SENIOR (or SEYNOR ?). Only Dyson’s brother managed to escape as he was sleeping in the uppermost bedroom. He smashed a hole through to the roof and he sat for two hours before being rescued. Sadly Samuel’s body was never found or identified.
Do you, by any chance, think he may be related to your family line? If so, could you supply any further info?
Look forward to hearing from you and thanks in anticipation of your reply.
Best Regards
