My ggrandfather was Charles Andrew Sergeant, born in Bethel Township, Miami Co, Ohio, 10/9/1842. His family moved to Illinois in 1851. I don't know if he had any brother/sisters or the names of his parents. 1880 Census data lists his father's place of birth as New York, although 1910 census data says Connecticut? After serving three years in the Civil War he returned to Princeton, Ill., where he married Massie Reynolds on 10/13/1866 and had 8 children, 7 of whom lived. There were 5 boys: Oliver Frank b ca. 1867/68, Fred Elmore b ca. 1871/72, Charles Harry b ca. 1875/76, James E. (or R.)b ca. 1878/79, and Robert Ralph b 6/22/1886. The girls were Hattie E. b ca. 1868/69 who married C.L. DeHass - no date, and Mary Margaret (Maggie) b 9/17/1870 who married Eugene Moran in Dec. 1889.
Fred Elmore Sergeant was my grandfather. He first married Cora and had one son, James Andrew Sergeant, before moving to St. Louis where he married Hazel Pearl Woodhams on 12/14/1907 and had another five children, the youngest of which is my mother, Helen, b 10/5/1916. I have limited and scattered pockets of information about Fred's six siblings and any families they may have had. It's almost like a whole generation has been lost. Any information about any of these family members will be greatly appreciated.
