I am looking for any information on Rachel C. Sargent(b. 1808) who married David M. McCaslin (b.1806). They were married in 1828 in Jefferson County Indiana. I cannot find any info regarding her parents. David is my 2great grandfather. I am on a book committee to write about David and Rachel'd descendants. I have David traced to Arkansas until his death. One of his sons, George Washington McCaslin in my great grandfather. I would be very appreciative of any and all info you can provide for me.

My grandmother was Margaret Sergeant, born 1880 in Portadown. The daughter of Robert Sergeant and Sarah Jane Ford. I have traced the line back to Robert Sergeant born abt 1842 and mariied to Ruth Smith in 1862.

Trying to track down information on the Robert and Rachel Sergeant family.

Robert and Rachel Faris/Faries were married 9 NOV 1820 along with her sister Eliza Faris who married Aquilla Thomas. Both Robert and Rachel were born about 1800.

They are found in Cecil county MD census for 1840, 1850, 1860, and 1870. It appears Robert died between the 1860 and 1870 census. Rachel died 21 APR 1876.

Rachel's parents were James Faris and Elizabeth Moody of Pencader Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware.

Rachel had a twin sister, Maria, who married Jacob Boulton in 1819.

I would be delighted to hear from you if are connected to or have information relating to Samuel SERGEANT or any members of his family. Samuel was born in 1854, Hunsingore, Yorkshire. He was a son of Charles and Ellen (nee Cutforth) Sergeant. (I am a gg-granddaughter.)

I have information regarding his life in the UK. I know that the family emigrated to Winnipeg, Canada. They then moved to the Galloway Township, New Jersey (family found on 1930 US census).

By 1930 the family looked like this:

Samuel
Effie (nee Blackburn) born 1879 Yorkshire. This was Samuel’s second marriage, and took place in 1909 in Selby, Yorkshire. His first wife Margaret died in 1905.
Children:
Sidney born 1912 Selby district, Yorks
Richard born 1913 Selby district, Yorks
Harold born 1915 Selby district, Yorks
Mary born 1918 Winnipeg
Charles born 1921 Winnipeg

It is my understanding that Samuel died in the early 1940s in the New Jersey area and Effie died in the early 1950s.

I am trying to trace my relations from Ballyshannon Donegal Ireland. I have very little information on them.
Their details are as follows; William Sergeant b1834 appx married Sophia Docherty b1834 appx on 15/8/1854 in Ballyshannon Donegal. Sophia's mother was also Sophia and she had a sister Annie and nephew william. They all moved to Anderston Glasgow sometime before 1901.

All born in Boston Spa, Yorks. Ernest had a son, Frank Sergeant who spent most of his adult life in Grimsby d. abt 1990.

Looking for information on Samuel Sergeant born in Leeds, England. He lived there for 60 years. His wife Margaret died in Jan 1904. He remarried a woman named Effie, and in 1915 with wife and young family came to Canada. Children: Eleanor, Walter, Mable, Charlie, and Ernest from first marriage. Children from second marriage Sidney, richard, Harold, Mary, and Charlie. Samuel passed in New Jersey in April, 1943. His wife, Effie, passed away in the early 1960's.

I'm having trouble tracing my Sargeant's (or Sargents, or whatever)

My Grandmother is Elsie May Sargeant born 1905 in Berkshire (we think) I cannot find her birth anywhere.
She died in Winchester Hampshire in 1956 aged 51 years.

She married Herbert Henry Dyer in 1931 in Pangbourne, Berkshire. By 1933 they had moved to Andover, Hampshire.

All I have is her marriage certificate which gives the above info, plus her fathers name as William John.

I found a William John on the 1901 Census born 1878,
Ringwood Hampshire but I have no way of connecting them as yet; other than my mum thinking ringwood may be where they visited her grandparents when she was very young.

They (Elsie and Herbert), had three children - Nora, Leonard, and Joyce
between 1933 and 1936.

(plus there is a rumoured elder mysterious 'missing' sister Phyllis - but we don't know which if either of the two she 'belonged' to)

Anyone think there may be a connection - or have any knowledge - please reply or send me an email! Thanks!

George, I see your posting was some time ago, but I wonder if you are still researching the Sergeant family. If so there may be a connection between our trees, though not between us personally. My great great aunt, Eva Johnson, married Gladstone Sergeant in Hull, Yorkshire, in 1915. Gladstone was the son of Harry and Hannah Sergeant. They had at least 5 children, one of whom, Vera, was born in Witherensea in 1897. Gladstone was born in Welwick, which is pretty close. Do you think there may be a connection? Would be very interested to hear from you if you think so.

family and ages are not accurate in the change of years
but that is quite normal!
Victoria is the child listed as Issabella in 1860
and her mother is listed as Mary but with comparsion
of other family members we can see its the same
family unit in all three census.

You'll note that Rhoda was born South Hykeham, Lincs. from 1901. I tried 1871 but not a lot of help as to her parents as she is a visitor (suspect relative but this doesn't help much). Birth index is more use: try ordering a certificate for Rhoda Jane Sergeant b. 1861 Q1 Lincoln 7a 416. A good few miles from my Sergeants in Marsh Chapel but you never know.

I'm seeking any information about Richard Serjeant/Sargent/Sergeant born about 1800. He married Sarah - ? and had a son, Peter Sargent, who was chr. 1824 in Coldwaltham, Sussex.

Peter married Mary Lulham in 1845 at Horsham, Sussex and had one son, Albert Sargent, who was chr. in 1856 at Chichester. He married Mary A. - ? [possibly Hill] but I don't know where or when. Nor do I know where he died. But I do know they had 3 sons and 5 daughters and I have the details.

Any information at all about this family line would be much appreciated!!

I'm putting together a Sergeant website that will Sergeants from Northern Ireland, mainly County Armagh. It will the surname Sergeant and variants. I will include excerpts from Griffith's Valuation, Bassett's Directory, the Freeholders Records, Estate info, Seagoe Parish Records, LDS records, military records and other pertinent info. I hope this is of assistance to my Sergeant kinsmen with ancestors in Armagh.

I would like this page to be interactive and I would WELCOME any info you care to share on Sergeants (all spellings) in Ireland.

My grandfather was John Clark Sergeant, born 2/25/1869 and my g grandfather was Joshua Sergeant married Elizabeth Cameron. I know my grandfather was born in New Castle, Pa., Lawrence County. I am after ancestors of mine, so far i have found a Richard Sergeant (b:abt 1798,Sale) and he married a Mary Robson (b:abt 1800,Nott's). They moved to Dudley, Worcestershire in the late 1820's early 1830's. Richard was a Cordwainer by trade,but later he worked as a lamplighter. There youngest daughter Louisa (b:1844)my gt gt grandmother married John Armstrong (b:1841), he worked as a boilermaker and a gasholder maker. There eldest daughter Annie married a John Lightwood in 1846 his father was Charles, thats all i know about her i cannot find her in any of the censuses after 1841.

This is the only Sergeant I have. I have her father as Unknown Sergeant (b. approx 1815 England) married to Mahala Lemon (b. approx 1817 England). Victoria's father was dead prior to her marriage Oct 7, 1877. Of course her mother's married name would be Mahala Sergeant

Was this the Byron Sergeant who was born earlier in the 1800's who was married to a Mary or Maria or the Byron Sergeant who lived in Blackhawk co later in the early 1900's? My gg grandfather had a nephew by the name of Byron who was married to an Emeline Graham and they livied in Chickasaw Co first and later near Hudson in a town called
Brooklyn or Brookfield. . I am looking for where my Byron died. But I understand there was a Byron there a lot earlier who settled in the Blsckhawk co area who was no relation. I got them confused for awhile until I got a birthdate on the elder Byron. I found they are two totally different men, not related though..

Daniel Abrey, husband of Anna Maria Sarjeant, is my great great great grandfather. His granddaughter, Mary Jane Ellen Abrey, married my grandfather, Richard Basire Goddard in Bristol in 1907.
