I am trying to make some connection to the SERR family for Emilie (Serr) Ott. She was married to George Ott. They lived in Boyd and Clay Counties in Nebraska and Gregory County in South Dakota. I believe their children were Laura, Friedrich and Vera. I would like to communicate with you on this family.

I haven't done any research for a couple of years so haven't checked family search for awhile. I did find the J. Michael that was born in Ranschbach interesting. My oldest Franz Serr was born there in 1730 something. I did just send you a message on the Corruna Serrs. Let's get off the Board and I'll give you the last address I have for Tim. My e-mail is Ricega@aol.com

I can't help you with the MI line except to tell you that Tim Dumond was researching the Corruna Serrs. My line from Rulzheim did connect up to Alice Van Overstraeten before 1855. Try contacting Tim. In 2000 he was at tidumond@comcast.net. He lived in West Bloomfield, MI. If you read Alice's message she gave a phone number. I have not been able to contact her for some time.

I have learned quite a bit about the Serr family since my original posting. The family originated from the area of Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. Some settled in Erie County, Pennsylvania and after time, resettled in Shiawassee County, Michigan. If this is the same family that you are interested in, contact me at my e-mail address: joystafford@cox.net

Hi:

Don't know if our Serr lines are related or not. My grandfather was Louis Rinehart Serr, born 9/2/1876 in MN; died 1/28/49.
Thanks for responding. I know very little about the Serr family. Louis' father's name was Conrad, born June 1836 in Germany; married to Augusta A., born July 1846 in Germany. I do not even know her maiden name.
Nor do I know where in Germany.

I don't know what you mean by "Black Sea". Apparently, it would refer to Germans from the Ukraine area? My grandmother's family (Radke/Radtke) are from West Prussia. I'm not even sure where West Prussia was.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge. My mother is still alive. I will talk with her and see what she can remember about her grandparents. If, in the meantime, any of this fits with anything you have, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks again.

Hi Martin:

Thanks for your posting. You have the lineage correct. The only change is Louis Serr's middle name was spelled "Rinehart", at least in the documents I have. Louis
was my grandfather and Minnie Radke my grandmother.

Several years ago, you got me started on the Serr/Radke lineage. You sent information to my mother, Martha Serr Walker, and I communicated with you. You then very kindly sent me a lot of information about the Lurz family history and genealogy. I thank you again for all that information.

Through an on-line Serr cousin, I have tracked the Serr family to their German ancestral home in Rhodt, Germany. The Radke's I have not been able to track that far yet. How is your research coming.

Please feel free to communicate directly with me through e-mail. I would enjoy "talking" to you.

Pat Barta

Am looking for information regarding my husband's grandmother, Carrie B. Serr. I know very little about her. Her year of birth was about 1868, supposedly in Erie County. She died Sep 29, 1899 at the age of 30 years, 6 months, 26 days old in Erie County, Pennsylvania. She was married to Edwin Z. Stafford. The record of her death does not list parents names. She bore three children before her death. Would like to trace her family history.
