POW/MIA Korean War, SERRANO

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. His remains were never recovered. Our government has no family contact at this time for this soldier

Soldier: DANIEL VALENTINE SERRANO
Born: 1928
Date of loss: May 19, 1951
Home of Record: Los Angeles County, Calif

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (79years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Hello. My name is Lucinda Bradley. My grandfather's name was Pedro Serrano. My mother's maiden name is Carmen Serrano. Her mother (my grandmother) is Clementina Cosme (Montezuma). The Serrano name is from Puerto Rico. I am from Illinois. My father's is of European descendent and I got some genealogy work on that side but already have a lot on that but more on my mother's side. We may be related I don't know. My step grandfather has also said that our family is part Spainard and part Carib Indians. You can research the history of Puerto Rico (mona island). On Wikipedia.org and google helps too. Let me know if this information helps. You can email me at: bcindyfree@gmail.com Thank you and have a nice day.

I've been unable to find any information about the ancestors of my great-grandmother, Carmen Serrano. She was born in 1879 and married Jose Prendes in Asturias, Spain around 1904. They had a son (also Jose Prendes) soon after, and the family immigrated together to Ybor City in Tampa, Florida around 1906.

Does anyone have any info, or any resources for researching ancestors in Asturias? Most of my great-grandparents (Serrano, Tamargo, Prendes, and Salaverria) came from the area and it's been difficult to find anything online. Thanks!

Hi, I don't know if there is still some family in Arecibo? I know my father used to visit a cousin but I can't remember her name. My great grandfather moved to Catano with his family. I only met some of my grandfather's siblings. Please contact me at caridura56@hotmail.com to compare information. Thanks for replying.

Thank you for your info. Sorry to hear about your dad, what city was he in? I would like to know if you have any idea where your uncle might be, the name of your mom, brothers, sisters, paternal grandpartents names, or anything else you may know or could find out. The Serrano family is quite large and I have been trying to tie everyone together since our reunion in July.

I am the only child resulting from the union of my mother and Baslio Serrano, from Rio Piedras, PR. When I was born my father was married to someone else, and he had other children, daughter and sons (I have no other information about my father). I live in New York now and I am a clinical therapist, practicing in NY. I am also listed in Classmates.com. It would be nice to learn more about my father, since I have characteristics that differ from those of my mother.
