Hi,
I found that error with the last letter of the name
Serrato(a)in the census records as well. In addition, many of the names in the census are spelled incorrectly probably due to a language barrier and a non-hispanic person taking down the information. I even found Miguel's name spelled Magil. You have to read some of the names phonetically like Elita is Elida and Ceathera is Ysidra. Good luck everyone!

Mary

I see that I had already posted the names of Francisco's parents, Esteban & Eugenia Macias Serrato.
We know that Francisco & Nicholosa did not raise any other children. They had a son Jose (who died @ age 20) a daughter Dolores (who also died young - @12 as I recall..)and a daughter Angelita who married Jose Flores and lived in back of the family in Brownsville til she died about 15 years ago. Francisco died young @1919. I do not know if
Esteban & Eugenia raised other children...but we do know that they HAD other children and lived in Brownsville til they died.
JoAN Serrata
My Husband is Jesus Guzman Serrata (due to an error on his birth certificate which no one ever corrected..) born 1937 Brownsville, Texas. His father was Jesus Reyes SerratO born 11-12-1907 Brownsville.
His father Francisco Macias Serrato was born in Vitoria,
Nuevo Leon, Mexico. I don't remember the date right now.
But I will look it up. He married Nicholosa Reyes in Victoria and came to Brownsville when she was pregnant with Jesus. His parents were already living in Brownsville and were buried there.
I will have to look up their names and see if I can find the names of their other children.
JoAN C Serrata
When he was very small his father passed (or left them) and his mother remarried a man with the last name Serrato. Miguel kept his step-fathers last name, Serrato. I do not have the first names of his parents. Any infomraiton would be helpful. Miguel is my grandfather. His only surviving daughter is Adela (87 yrs old) and she is my mother. Thank you.

My grandfather César Serrato Gazcón was born in San Pedro de las Colonias, Coahuila, in 1906 to Braulio Serrato and Rosalía Gazcón. He had 4 more brothers (Tomas, Manuel, Juan and Ricardo). I'm trying to trace his ancestors, who apparently arrived to Mexico from Italy in the XIX century. Any help will be appreciated.

Penny,
If you are only searching for people with those surnames, you will do well to go to one of the "white pages" directory sites. Here are several of the best.

http://www.anywho.com/
http://www.four11.com
http://people.yahoo.com
http://www.worldpages.com/
http://www.switchboard.com

If you are interested in findiing family members there is a bit more to it. Given names are necessary to identify the right 'Nordin' or the right 'Clendennen'. You need to show any dates you know (birth, death, marriage or dates they moved from one place to another). It is also a good move to indicate the county in which they lived. Don't show a town without a county because there are many towns with the same name as towns in other counties.
Hugh Swift

Thank You for the info. Serrato is my married name and I am researching this for my husband, since most of his family comes from Mexico I listed it as just his last name to get any and all info possible.Nordin is my maiden name and I have been researching my dad's side of the family for quite some time but cannot locate his Fathers info he passed when my dad was about 9 which would be around 1928 and since my dad and his brothers all have passed as well it is very difficult. There are no listings in the death records for the state and I have no idea where they lived so I have no idea which line of Nordins he descends from. Clendennen is my X husbands name and my daughters and I am researching them for her.

Serrato- McClennen County, TX, Dallas, TX, Waco.
About six years ago, I had the priviledge of going to Chihuahua, Chihuahua and Camargo, Chihuahua to visit/meet family. I am the amateur genealogist in the family. It turns out that the majority of the town of Camargo was family. We are from the lineage of Juan Serrata (came from France or Spain ... still working on it) - Manuel Serrata - Saturnino Serrata - Fidel Serrata (My father) I can send you our lineage if you wish to provide an address. I am going to enter all of the data onto the ancestry tree but it will be quite a task since there are to many of us. We also have relatives in Juarez, Texas, and Arizona.
