My husband, Marvin Sessions, 1939-2007, has a long line of family members behind him. His dad was Plouden Theodore, his grandfather, John Virene, his ggrandfather John Virene, and goes all the way back to George in the 1600's from England. This branch stayed on the east coast of the US as I know of none that are further west than Tennessee and that was an uncle.
Plouden married Alice Weeks, John Virene (grandfather) married Eva, and his mother was Elizabeth Bailey. Most of the former family members came from SC and NC after George came from England.
I have the info on a GED COM but do not know how to transfer them to someone else. In fact, I don't really know how I got the first GED COM because it has been so long and 3 PAF programs ago.

Edwin C. Sessions, b. 1871 Mississippi

I suspect Edwin (born 1871 in Mississippi) married Ida THOMPSON btw. 1884-1894 in St. Louis, Missouri, where Edward can be found in the 1880 census with his mother, Jessie (b. abt. 1852). Edwin is in the 1890 St. Louis City Directory also as a clerk. By 1900, he is enumerated in the Warren Co. Mississippi federal census, again with his mother and now also with his dau., Elizabeth, who is 5 years old and born in Missouri. In the following censuses, I believe Edwin remains in Mississippi, gets married, and raises a family. Elizabeth has joined her mother, Ida T. Sessions, in Brooklyn, Kings Co. New York by the 1910 census. Ida T. Sessions was living in St. Louis in the 1900 census with her mother, Annie THOMPSON (maiden name BOSWORTH, b. 1845 Louisiana) who married Geo. C. THOMPSON b. 1841 KY). Annie is head of household and the census reports her as a widow, but I'm suspecting a possible divorce instead. Elizabeth SESSIONS seems to have married and was widowed by the 1920 census where she is also living with her mother - Elizabeth's married name is MOREY. No children. After that, I don't know what happened to Elizabeth but anyone interested in descendants of Edwin C. SESSIONS may want to pursue this. My research interest is BOSWORTH and I'd like someday to know what became of Elizabeth's mother Ida, who I cannot find in the 1930 census.

My line from Abner

Abner sessions (b. 1722, d. 1781) married Mary Wright Wyman, daughter of Josiah Wright and widow of Rev. Ebenezer Wyman. They had three children, Ebenezer, Mary, and another daughter.
Ebenezer (b. March 06, 1750,)married Huldah Hayward, daughter of John Hayward on May 18,1769. Among ther chidren was a son, Ebenezer.
This second Ebenezer was married to Sally Hawes on 21 November 1805. They later migrated to Broome County, New York. They had a large family, the sixth of whom was Amos Sessions.
Amos, born 17 July 1819, was my great- grandfather. He married Mariah (or Maria) Hess, a native of Germany, and lived in Wisconsin before migrating to Iowa in 1856 or 1857.
Amos had a number of children, and the next-to-the-yongest was Alonzo (born in 1865, died in 1920. His wife was Maggie May Pool, who died in 1916 when my mother and her twin sister were infants.
My mother, Doris Sessions, is the daughter of Alonzo and Maggie Sessions. She had a twin sister, an older sister Grturde Strauss, and a brother, Walter Sessions.
This is a brief sketch of my Sessions line---if you want more, I will gladly send it. I have proved Revolutionary War service for Abner (civil service as town clerk in Union, Connecticut, and or the frist Ebenezer. I'm always interested in learning more about what is surely a large, diverse family. ---Ted

Sessions-Morris, Wilcox Co, AL 1820s

I have been searching for the family of my ancester Stephen (or Stephens) Morris for some time. I have found a person by that name, of the right age & birthplace (b. abt 1812 in SC) living in Russell co, AL with Niece Amanda Sessions, single, age 30, and niece Rosa Sessions, age 4, presumably Amanda's daughter. Amanda was born in AL, of SC parents.

Stephen (mine) lived in Wilcox Co, AL in 1841. An Amanda Sessions, b. abt 1848 was born in Wilcox Co to John B. and Lydia (Bowen or Bowman) sessions.

In 1823, in Wilcox Co, Sarah Morris gave permission for Sarah Sessions to marry Green Vickers/Vickery. I cannot find any definite record of these folks in the census, although I can find land records for Green Vickers in the Wilcox/Dallas Co area. I did find a Mrs. S. Vickers in Wilcox Co in 1840, age 30-40.

Looking at all these facts together, I find myself wondering if the Sarah Morris had previously been married to a Sessions and that therefore Sarah Sessions Vickers (and very possibly John B. Sessions) were the half-siblings of Stephens Morris? John B. was born about 1804 in SC; Sarah would have been born before 1810 (census) and after 1802 - or possibly later, since she needed permission to marry in 1823. Daniel Morris, living next door to Mrs. S. Vickers in 1840 and in the same town as Stephens in 1847, was born about 1810 and Stephens himself somewhere between 1811-1814. This would then fit with the 1880 Stephen Morris living with his niece Amanda Sessions. On the other hand, I could be stretching a bunch of coincidences very thin.

Is anyone familiar with any of these families to confirm or deny this?

Thanks, Sharon
Proposed Southeast US Sessions DNA Project

Several of the Sessions lines have verifiable lines back to the late 1700’s and early 1800’s. It is believed that some of these lines could be linked through DNA analysis for a common ancestor. We are looking for expressions of interest in a project to analyze named male Sessions descendents with provable lines back to early Sessions ancestors from Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and possibly Texas. If you are interested in participating please respond with your earliest provable male Sessions ancestor (female genes are not useable in this project) and we will attempt to take the next step towards developing a DNA program. We have a volunteer from the Samuel Sessions line in Fairfield County, SC (1800). If we get enough male Sessions descendents to volunteer the cost would be around $200 each.
Hello. I am looking for any information on my great grandmother Elizabeth Marie Sessions. I'm not sure if she went by Lizzie,Eliza or something like that. She was born in 1883 in Fourche Lafave Township, Pulaski County, Arkansas. She was married to Nathaniel Henry Holt who was born in 1874 in the same place. Her son Henry Thomas Holt was my grandpa and he was born in 1912. She also had Nathaniel Lee, Mary and Margaret. If anyone has information on her and her side of the family I would appreciate if you could send it to me please. (Steve-Lissa@sbcglobal.net)Thank you, Lissa Holt

Re: William Isaac "Buck" Sessions

My mother did a lot of work on the Sessions line before she passed away in 1998. I only work on it sporadically. She was in contact with an R.F. Sessions of Atlanta, GA - also deceased now - and he was a descendant of a William Isaac "Buck" Sessions born in North Carolina 1779 and died in Pike Co., AL in 1855. This Isaac's father was a John Sessions, born in NC June 12, 1711. His wife's name was Sarah ? She lived to @101 yrs. old. They had 12 children. John's father was another John born @ 1675 - wife possibly Elizabeth, but I do not know for sure. Isaac also had a brother, Thomas, born @1736 who married Martha Winget and they had 14 children, one of whom they named Isaac, born Sept. 11, 1779. Thomas is our line from John. I wish I had more information, lots and lots of leads back to England, if all of the dots get connected. There were several people working on this line when she was, but don't know if they still are. Hope this helps some.

Mary Ann Sessions, Bladen Co., NC

Does anyone know anything about family of Mary Ann SESSIONS born about 1815 in NC? She married William EVERS, JR. 20 November 1834 in Bladen Co., NC.

They had nine children: Elias "James" EVERS, John William EVERS, Amanda Amey EVERS, Richard Mullington Lewis EVERS, Robert Frederick EVERS,(my line), Mary Elizabeth EVERS, Sarah EVERS, Lucy A. EVERS, and Fannie EVERS.

They migrated to Monroe Co., GA, then Tallapoosa Co., AL, Scott Co., MS (where they may have died between 1860-70, but cannot confirm.) Their children settled in Yazoo Co., MS.
The two smallest daughters were listed with an older brother in the 1870 Yazoo MS census, so I assume William and Mary Ann had died.

I have been unable to connect Mary Ann to a SESSIONS family. Can anyone help me? Thanks,

Doris Davis

worlledge family history

i am seeking information on the worlledge family history. I realise there are may decendants from many "worlledge" families. My grandfather, Ernest Worlledge migrated to Australia in 1928. He was the son of John Worlledge & Florence Worlledge(nee Kirby) of Walthamstow, England. They also had 4 other children, John, Florrie, Constance and Violet. All siblings were seperated in 1922 when both parents died. John, Violet & Ernest were sent to "Barnardos Homes" and also Florrie was admitted into an institution of some sort aged 23 I believe. Nothing was ever known of her again other than she may have had a son. Any information at all would be greatly appreciated. I have more details if needed.

I chanced upon some information that may be of interest to descendants of Mississippi Sessions. I am not a Sessions descendant and have no further information except to say these files can be obtained from SC Archives. My ancestors moved from SC to MS in the early 1800s, and I stumbled across the information while doing a search of the South Carolina Archives online database. Found through this site:
http://www.archivesindex.sc.gov/search/default.asp

Details Series Number:S165015 Year:
ND00
Item: 04764 ignore:00

Date: 1838 C.
Description: SESSIONS, M.
Looking for info on an Ira Sessions b.1803 in Vt married to a Tirzah B. Darling and a Marcellus Sessions b. 1828 in Vt married to a ? Long and then a Lucinda Chapman. Some have told us to check the Northern lines and some have said to check the Southern lines. I can't find anything and was wondering if anyone out there may have them in their line. We are stuck in the middle and can't move. I would appreciate any help.

I have the SS Application for George Washington Sessions who was born December 12,1879, died Oct.23, 1974. On the SS Ap. it lists Rubin Sessions as his father. He says he and his two brothers were orphaned as children and he was raised by a Dr. Wood near Sylvania, Ga. He did not remember anything about his parents. Does anyone have any info about which branch he may be from. I also suspect that his wife was an Indian, but no proof.

Sessions family

I am also trying to trace backward on the Sessions family. I have some information, but no proof, of John Vereen Sessions, father of John Vereen Sessions being born in Horry County, SC as was his son who later moved to FL with his parents.
I know they were in the lumber business, mostly turpentiners, but other than that I have no "proof". I did get some information online as to the lineage, but, again, there was no proof of the line, just a gedcom.
In this line it traces all the way back to George Sessions, and the gedcom states he came from England, although from what I've seen online that this particular George didn't, maybe a couple generations before him. I know there were no Sessions on the Mayflower, but they may have come over shortly after. I know that those who settled in NC and SC were mostly of Scot lineage.
Where can I get this book on Sessions?

They are buried in Monroe or Wilcox county. I am told by his grandson, that Jefferson's father was Johnathan Sessions and his grandfather was Rev. J. J. Sessions. A Johnathan Sessions married Elizabeth Jones 25Aug1849 in Monroe County. A John J. Sessions married Sarah Helms 12-25-1826 in Wilcox County. A Rev. John J. Sessions was bequeathed $500 in the will of Lenard Scott 9/18/1844 in Wilcox County. Please let me know if you discover a connection.

Thanks.

Harry G (Galusha?). SESSIONS, Born 1810 in Vermont

Harry G. SESSIONS is one of my great grandfathers. I am trying to identify his parents. Harry was born in Vermont (possibly Rutland Co.) in about 1810. He married Laura Margareth MANLEY, Dec. 23, 1830, at Brandon, Rutland Co, Vermont. He later married Marilla Cynthia TERRY April 10, 1845, at Clymer, Chatauqua Co, New York. Laura was born Feb.25,1813, at Chittenden Township, Rutland Co, New York. Marilla was born Nov. 17, 1822, at Clymer, Chatauqua Co, New York. I would be happy to share information on Harry's descendants or Laura and Marilla's ancestors.

I am interested in making contact with anyone with knowledge about George H. Sessions and his wife Mariah Brumby Sessions of Marietta, Ga. George H. Sessions was a brother of my great-grandfather, Moultrie McKinney Sessions of Marietta, Ga.
