Hello Lars, thanks for the reply. I don't have much more info on my Severin ancestors. I tried to find my ggreatgrandparents' birth certificates but i couldn't. Presumably they weren't born in Schönebeck/Elbe, only my ggrandfather's brother, Johann Wilhelm Severin. He was born in 1881. The next year they emigrated to Argentina through Bremerhaven. By the time Johann Wilhelm was born they lived in Markt St. Nr 5, in Schonebeck.
Do you have any info on your Severin ancestors? Were they from that area? I've seen in other posts that there were Severin in Angern, near Magdeburg.
Hope to hear from you.
Greetings from Rosario, Argentina

Nickolya first came to Canada with his brother Dan in their quest for free land. Actual arrival date yet to be confirmed though they probably arrived through Halifax.

Severin in Paese, Treviso, Veneto, Italy

Hello all, I am looking also for a Severin family in Paese, near Venezia, Italy. Francesco Severin was born in 1852 in Paese. He was the son of Juan (spanish translation of Giovanni) Severin and Davia de Toma. They migrated to Argentina before 1891. I found this site:
http://www.melegnano.net/memorie/famil38.htm
The names are similar but i can't find the relationship yet.
I hope that someone knows anything about this family.
I am trying to find out if they had any kind of relationship with "my" Severin from Schoenbeck am Elbe, near Magdeburg, Germany. I know it's a long way, but in my own ancestors, i have, around the same time, migrations in Europe that long, or even longer.
Well, hope to hear from someone.
Greetings
Mariano F.
Hi Diana, I'm sorry but the only information I've got about this family is:
Theodor Severin married to Ines Voelker (Völker) around 1880 (unknown place). They were born around 1855. They had their first child, Johann Wilhelm Severin in Schoenebeck am Elbe (near Magdeburg) in 1881 and the second (my ggrandfather) in 1882 aboard the Hohenzollern ship that took them to Argentina, where I live. I contacted two persons in Schoenebeck 2 years ago, with the last name Severin and they replied to me. They told me that they had very few information and seemed not to be related to me, but who knows. In 2005 i was in Magdeburg's Archive and couldn't find any Severin... So, if you have any other information, let me know.
Greetings.
Mariano

Thanks for the reply. The one near Magdeburg is way too far north. The closest map I have found to 1856 is one dated 1860; however there were few political changes right around that time so it is pretty accurate. The Kingdom of Saxony was a small area encompassing Leipzig and Dresden and related small towns around them. Meyers-Ort which listed all German towns in 1914 lists 29 villages or communities of Anger/Angern but none seem to be in the correct area so have to think the village had disappeared before that time. Many of the villagers came together on the ship Johan Lange so it is also possible the village disappeared in 1856! Nadine
