Seek information about and descendants of the Sewall family of Shreveport, La.:

John O. Sewall (1806-1845). Lived there by spring of 1839, first mayor, 1839-1840. Said to have had a family but none have been identified.

Charles A. Sewall (1807-1847). Brother of John O. Sewall. Capt., Army Corps of Engineers. Had a store there by 1839. Postmaster at about that time. Some descendants of a son John A. Sewall can be identified in the census records.

Rufus Sewall (ca. 1839-?). Nephew of John O. and Charles A. Sewall. Lived there with his mother Frances 1850 and 1860 (she still lived there in 1880). Was he the Rufus Sewall enl. age 20 in 1861 in 1st (Nelligan's) La. Inf.?

Sam Landrum (ca. 1857-?) Nephew of Rufus Sewall. Lawyer there in 1880.
