Shanklin and Harriet Boone Shanklin, who was the daughter of Jim Boone, brother of legendary frontiersman Daniel Boone. Roland was married to Bertha Lee Shanklin [maiden name was Favors]. Together they had 8 children: Connie May Bennetta Shanklin-Haywood, Eunice Clinton Shanklin-Johnson, Roland Actor Shanklin Jr., Virginia Latrelle Shanklin-Sample, Wilmot Harvey Shanklin "Chum", Clyde Edwin Shanklin [my grandfather], Cecile Pearl Shanklin-Brown, and Thelma Louise Shanklin-Balous "Chaney".
