I have a Thomas A. Shaw in my line. He was the brother of my 2 great grandmother Catherine Shaw. I know that Catherine was born in 1833 in Clark Co. Ohio. She moved with her family to Delaware Co. Indiana. Her parents died in 1845, fair close together. Catherine was only 12 at the time of her parents death. She had several siblings: Thomas A. Shaw (who was an adult at the time of the parents death) I believe Thomas was the oldest sibling. Then there was : Mariel, Frances Ann (Both also considered adults at the time of parents death), The rest of the children were called minors at the time of death: Robert, Elizabeth, Henrietta, Catherine, George, and Issac. I do know that Thomas petitioned to be the guardian of at least George. I believe several of the other children lived with an uncle in the same area. Elizabeth went on be marry a man by the name of Pacey and lived in Muncie Indiana.
