My Grandfathers name was William Elisha Shead, and my Dad was George William Shead, both born in Wisconsin... I know that the Sheads came from the UK but have not been able to trace them back to the UK. I can't find date that they might have left the Uk for the USA. Any info you might be able to show light on would be wonderful... I'm stuck...
My ancestry page is ... Dawn Shead - Rosebush family tree.

thank you so much.

I had a company research the Shead coat of arms back in 1988. I met with them personally at an event at Mildenhall AB (I was serving there in the USAF). They looked through several books before locating the Shead name. According to their records, the origin of the name and lineage was from Scotland.

I recently purchased an English sampler stitched by Ann Shead. I believe she may have been from Essex, but I have no further information on her. She stitched the sampler in 1826 at the age of 11. I would love to find some additional information on her family and I'm hoping that one of you might have run across her in your research and can provide me with a clue or two.

Nancy S. SHEAD, born about 1810

I am looking for any information about Nancy S. SHEAD who married Stephen RICHARDSON on Valentine's Day 1830 in Mansfield, Bristol, MA. The vital records of Mansfield list both bride and groom as being of Mansfield. Many other records of Richardsons are listed but this is the only record of a SHEAD/SHED/SHEDD. According to the census for 1850, Nancy would have been born about 1809 or 1810.

Thanks, but as I see as of now there is no connection. Just wondering how much of the shead family do you have, or is this the only one. I have alot of James Sheads, Some with the name of James Japtha Shead, Shedd, or Shed. some as for back as the 1700, who lived in America in Louden VA. and then went south and west. but the one I have in the 1700 migrated there but I don't know from where, his name was James Shedd, and from what I have gathered he had 3 sons George, James Thompson, and William, I have not found who his wife was or any thing like that so if these ring a bell let me know.
Thanks,
Kristie

I have gotten as far back as a James Shedd..who lived in Louden VA. born abt 1700. Also have some in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Colordo, and many more that I cann't remmeber at this time. I myself am from South Carolina, My father was the late Bobby Joe Shead, son of the late Jay Shead. In my research so far I have found many different spellings of the last name. I do have a Nancy but I am thinking she was a Smith that married a Shead, and she was born in abt 1965 or later not sure. I do know that she was from Oconee County, South Carolina, where I am from. So if any of these names ring a bell let me know, because your Nancy Shead maybe a name that I do not have as of yet. Thanks so much and hope this was of some help. Hope to hear from you soon.
Kristie

Then the fater William took Walter James and returned to England and Isobella was raised by the McPhails in Port Elizabeth. I do not know if this can help - hope so.
Thanks
