Okay, from what I gather our common ancestor is Thomas Hand Shelburne (Susan Elizabeth Heslet). Their son Jacob Frankin (your gg grandfather) is my great grandfather John Thomas' brother. That makes your great grandfather, Ira Elihu and my grandmother Gertrude cousins.
I currently have two sons for Ira Elihu.
So my line going back from most recent Shelburne (my grandmother) is: Gertrude May dau of John Thomas Shelburne and Amanda May Pollard; John Thomas son of Thomas Hand Shelburne and Susan Elizabeth Heslet (our common ancestor).
Please contact me directly at katdeam@frontier.com I don't like posting more recent info on this venue. Plus, I check that email more frequently than the one that ancestry.com has as my contact.

My great Grandfather was Ira Elihu Shelburne. I followed the family tree back to Thomas Shelburne who married Elizabeth Augustin. His father was William Shillborn I believe. How are you related? Maybe we can work on the tree together if we are related in a way. If this sounds right, let me know.

Hope this helps all those researching the Pollard/Hollingsworth families. Silas father was Allison Pollard and mother Mary Ashby,Rachaels's parents Jonathon and Susan Bedkin or Botkin.

How do the 4 books work...what I mean is, how do you determine which book might be the one with your family line? I just recently discovered that my family is descended from Mary (Polly) Shelburn(e), daughter of John Shelburn(e). So, would Mary's info be in the book of John? Or, is it iecessary to travel further back? And, are any of these books available?
(Pardon my lack of knowledge - I'm a newbie here!)
Linda

Possible source of Bereman name: Bereman Shelburne was born ca. 1788 Falquier Co. Va. Tax roles show a Maximn (Mack) Berryman in Falquier Co in 1777-79. Bereman's mother Charlotte Elizabeth Willis was from Culpeper Co. (next to Falquier). Charlotte named her first son Robinson after his grandma Mary Robinson Shelburne. My guess is the 2nd son Bereman was named after his maternal grandma who was a Berryman (Bereman)from Culpeper/Faquier area Va.

Thank you for your quick reply. Although I was born and raised in the South (my mothers side) until I came across Bereman Shelburne no other Bereman's served for the C. S. A.
A bunch of them served for the Union however. My family, and to my knowledge all living Bereman's are decendents of Thomas Bereman who moved to Mercer Co. Ky from N.J. with the family moving to IN and points west after that. Spencer County is only a little north of Mercer Co. I have not been able to make the connection. Either there is a line of Bereman's that research has not been aware of (not likely) the name was through marriage (unable to connect) or they were neighbors at one time or another (most likely)the later fits with your family history. Thomas Bereman was a veteran of the War of Indepence so there may be a connection there. Anyway the name has sparked interest with me and other Bereman researchers so if we come up with anything we'll let you know.

Ron Bereman

I do not have any information about Earl & the Shelburne's except my mother used to speak of Shelburn Indiana. I am going to Terre Haute & Shelburn, IN this next Monday. I so appreciate your information & wonder how did you know or are you a family member? I could only find on-line that Flora was Earl's mother but never could figure out his father or the Shelburne family. m Any information would be so appreciative. My address is Penny Williamson, 404 Shawnee Lane, Bedford, IN 47421 or e-mail pwilliamson14@netscape.com. Do you know if there are any Shelburne's around anymore? I am so thankful! Penny

Earl is on page 289 of: "Shelburne- The Book of John" by Richard Buck. The book, 334 pages, is rare but copies may be in library in Indiana. Earl's mother was Flora Etna Shelburn b. 30 Nov 1864, father unknown. Earl raised by Flora's parents William Spencer and Dorotha Minerva Mahan Shelburn. I can xerox a few pages and mail to you if you wish. Are you interested in Earls mothers ancestors or Earl's descendants?
Or I can answer specific questions by looking it up in my book. Regards Orville Shelburne

He had 3 sons & 2 daughters with this marriage. He died MAR 1939 in Terre Haute & buried in Highland Cemetery. ANY HELP would be much appreciated, will exchange information I have.
Hi! You need to get a copy of Shelburne: The Book of Silas by the late Richard W. Buck, copyrighted 1973. Nathaniel Burwell Shelburne is your ancestor. We are likely very distant cousins. My ancestor was a different Nathaniel (Nathaniel R. Shelburne of Pulaski County, VA and formerly of Lunenburg County, VA b. ca. 1805-d. ca. 1895). I have just written a 150 page book on my branch. You could try interlibrary loan to get the book on Silas. By the way, Richard Buck wrote three other books on Shelburne families from the VA, TN, KY areas.

Hello! I do believe that your bunch and my bunch are related. From the research of Dr. Robert Craig Shelburne and Col. Richard Buck, I understand that a James Oliver Shelburne who lived in the late 1800s said that a Thomas Shelburne came from Wales to Va and married a woman named Elizabeth. Their child, Augustine, Sr. married Mary (possibly a Mansfield) and had Thomas, Mary, James, and Augustine, Jr. Thomas and Mary died young. James moved 10 miles northwest of Williamsburg on Old Stage Road and had children Samuel,James, Jr., John, and William. Some of their descendants are said to have stayed in the James City/New Kent area. Augustine's other child, Augustine, Jr., also lived on Old Stage Road until he moved, with his family, to Lunenburg Co., VA on Reedy Creek five miles from the Lunenburg Courthouse. His children were John, Thomas, James, and Elizabeth. I believe that this Thomas is the grandfather of my Nathaniel but I can't really prove it. I have written a book on the descendants of Nathaniel and would love to firmly connect him. Look forward to hearing from you, Sheri, and from anyone else connected to this line.

DATA Message RE: The Marshallite, 1929 John Marshall High School yearbook (Richmond, VA).

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes). It includes the following name(s):

Shelburne, Jr., Thomas Pettus (T. P.)

There's over 1,900 records, so I've only listed the name(s), as it appears in the yearbook in this message.

If you would like to view all of the information that I extracted from the yearbook, I have uploaded it to my freepages genealogy web site. The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/r...

Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Please note that my site contains free genealogy related data & IS NOT a "commercial" or "advertising" site. Until I can get back out & do research on my own families, my hobby is posting free genealogy related data online that may help other reseachers. I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site (including information others send to me to share on the site), not just data about the families I am researching (therefore I can't answer questions about everyone I have listed on the site). I hope the information I've put online helps someone with their research . . .

Susan :)
Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...
