Classification: Query
Surnames: Hill, Shenstone, Walker, Simpson, Devrington, Tanner
Does anyone have an interest in Thomas Hill of Warley Wigan who may have died in 1789.
He had at least 4 children and possibly 7 although I am not too clear on that.
The children I know of are:
John Hill who died intestate without issue.
Mary who went on to marry William Shenstone (not the poet!) and died about 1862, buried at Coven.
Thomas Hill who died in the United States.
Hannah Hill who married William Walker, died about 1828 and buried in Birmingham.
In 1817, Thomas owned a property in Halesowen which was being rented by Samual Fletcher, a nailor. The property was previously owned by Hon. Lord Lyttleton
Other names mentioned later on in the family include Richard Hill, Brassfounder with connections to Bristol.
Benjamin Hill.
Sarah Shenstone who married James Henry Simpson then Thomas Tanner. Died about 1853, buried Monckton Combe, Bath.
Ann Shenstone who married George Devrington, died 1852, buried Bromsgrove.
The Shenstones are associated with Standeford Mill, Brewood.
I will post this on other relevant lists but if this family interests you please get in touch. I have a document that will want to see.
