I'm back on the Sheppard/Shepperd clan after spending some time on le Cheminant, Wright, Hall, all my father side plus Richardson, Morton, Ellis, Seabrook all my wife's family.

The spelling is always at the whim of the transcriber.

What was your 3 GG grandfathers wife's name, i seemed to come up with both Mary and Sarah when searching census and birth records.

I wanted to see if i could work out some of this tree before coming back to you but stumbled on the first one but it won't stop me from trying others.

Yes my name is Linda.I am more than happy to share my research.Giles sheppard and Anne Parsons married c1813 probably in Winterborne Kingston.Their children were my 3 x GG Alfred 1814,Eli 1816,John 1818,Elizabeth 1820-22,Martha 1822,Elizabeth 1824,Frederick 1828 and Henry 1829.

There is a website run by volunteers that has many transcriptions of parish records,census etc.

Have a look at www.opcdorset.com You will see that there are several Giles Sheppards in the Winterborne Kingston births and this has caused problems for myself and other researchers I have been in contact with in trying to trace the family further back. Linda

It's nice to know that there are more of the family that exist. My mother was Joan Shepperd she was the daughter of Frederic Charles Shepperd who was the son of Thomas Shepperd.

Was Amos the son of another brother?

Eli Shepperd was born in the village of Winterborne Kingston,Dorset.The family name was spelled Sheppard.Both Eli And his brother Henry moved to Ryde,Isle of Wight and were joined there by various other relations.Their nephew Amos Sheppard was my 2x greatgrandfather,he brought his family to Bournemouth,Dorset c1869 and I still live there.As far as I know Eli only had the seven children that you have listed.
Until I saw your message I had lost track of Thomas and his family.Hoping this is of help to you.

I recently purchased a bunch of old photos. One of the photos shows a younger man and is labeled on the front "Uncle Jake Shepperd". This is a tin-type photo. I would guess that this photo was taken in Pennsylvania (based on the photo of Emma Shepperd taken in Easton, Pennsylvania). It appears that Jacob was a midget.

Looking for information on Children of Eli Shepperd born about 1816 in Kingston Dorset England.

As best i can find he had 7 children.
Charles, Elizabeth, Thomas, Martha, Maria, William, Julia

Thomas married Ester Venthiem (Ventham) and had 9 children. He moved the family to Troy in New York State in about 1870 but returned to Enbland then moved to Australia.

I am looking for parents of James Shepherd Wood(s) born 1806 and thought his middle name may have been a family name...Mother's maiden name? I believe he may have been born in Ohio...he was married in 1833 to Mary Richardson, in Indiana. Son William b. 1835, John Shepherd b. 1836, Elizabeth Belle b. 1839, (son) Francis Marion b. 1841, Levi b. 1843, Isaac b. 1845, Hannah Jane b. 1846, Miles Ferris b. 1848, Nancy Rosella b. 1849, Reverand Charles b. 1852, James Monroe b. 1862 (most were born in Indiana). Most of the boys were enlisted men in the Civil War in Indiana Regiments, John Shepherd, however, was in an Ohio Regiment (156th infantry) and was married to Mary Reed of Butler county Ohio.

I was very interested in finding your posting. Orian Shepperd Prosser was my father's grandmother and sister to Hampden H. Shepperd. I have some information about the Shepperds, though haven't followed the line very far. If you would like a copy of the obituary for Beverly Allen Shepperd their father, and that of Orian, let me know. I also have a phto of her in her senior years. A very pretty woman who lived to age 90 - I just got her death certificate, for DAR purposes, Prosser line, though Beverly Allen's father, Isaac, was most probably also a veteran of the Revolution. BAS was b. in Wythe County, VA, d. Nebraska City NE. Assume you know all this.

Annie Elizabeth (Wright) Shepperd was my grandmother. Her husband was William Shelton Shepperd Who was born in Cold Springs Texas. We do not have a John Shepperd in the family. Her sisters were Margaret, Susan, and Clara.

My grandmother’s father was John Wright.

I am curious what information you have about the Shepperd's in Alvin Texas.

My great great grandmother was Annie Shepperd (Shepherd, Shepport, Sheppard). She had a sister (I believe it was only a half sister) named Kate. Annie's father was John Ball Shepherd. I have a letter from my Great Great grandfather stating Annie and him lived in Alvin Texas for 2 years. The dates would be sometime between 1910 and 1914. My theory is some relative lived there (maybe even the father John Ball Shepherd). I am trying to find more information on John Shepherd, who Annie Shepperd mother's was and who Kate's mother and father were. Maybe your family in Alvin are related in some way.

Does anyone have any knowledge of a Henry and Hannah Sheppard, they were born in 1820 aand 1823 respectively. the last known location that I have for them is Oxfordshire, England on the 1861 census after which they seem to have vapourised.

Thanks for reply, but don't think is any relation. John (Shepperd, Shepard, Sheperd) I have was in Civil War, Private...Illinois. His father was James Shepherd Woods or Wood (who we have no info on), was thinking that his middle name could be his mother's family name. James 1806 was married to Mary or Maryanne Richardson and they seem to have been (at one time or another), in Ohio and Indiana although Indiana for the longest. Trying to find parents of James and Mary.

to find a great article regarding the Sterne's and Shepperd's of the Shepperd mansion at Lyndhurst in Littleton, Colorado. Lyndhurst was the name of Mayor Hampden H. Shepperd's large home on "Knob Hill" at the corner of Shepperd Avenue and Prince Street.
I have a black & white photo of William C. "Billy" Sterne and Orian Sterne, that I inherited from my grandmother Essie Marie Shepperd(Lilley); ca. 1920.
Mrs. Orian (Shepperd) Sterne, widow of William C. Sterne, was named the "Most Charming Woman of the Half Century" in Littleton in February 1951. Although she had lived in Denver for some years by then, she was remembered as not only beautiful, she was still beautiful, it was said, but possessed of an inner graciousness and a deep and sensitive concern for other people. She was born September 2, 1875 in Missouri and died January 12, 1956 in Denver.
Their son, Charles Shepperd Sterne, was born March 13, 1901 and spent his childhood at Lyndhurst.

Hello to all sheppards..I am hoping to find someone who can help me. I want to find my sheppard ancesters. I really dont have much to go on. My father William Thomas Sheppard was born in Baltimore MD around Aug. 15th, 1929 and died in Staunton VA in 1967. His mother Mary( shultz )Sheppard died before I was born in or around 1945. His father Morris Sheppard I only saw once or twice when I was a very small child in around 1954.He has a sister still living, but she cant even give me the grandparents names. Thomas S. Shepperd Sr. was my grandfather and Thomas S. Shepperd Jr. was my father.
I have no more on H.H. Shepperd, outside of info on the web in Littleton, Colorado. Except a recent site that indicated that an H.H. Shepperd was a clerk and on the board for the Houston & Central Texas Railway. I'm having much trouble finding any more info. I had a couple of old photos of Orion and Parker but I sent them to my cousins in Ky years ago.

Marnie, I was so happy to get your reply. We were having trouble finding out anything on Hampden. His son, Thomas S. had four children. One of whom was Thomas S Jr. who has one son named Clay B. Shepperd, my husband. We are very interested in getting more info on the Shepperd's. There is a Hampden H. Shepperd that is listed in 1851-1900 marriages in Missouri. We are still looking for information on H. H. Shepperd. The latest info that we have found is that his first name may be Hampden or Hampton. He may also be known as Col. H. H. Shepperd. We found him listed in a directory in Sherman Texas in the years 1876 & 1877. If anyone has any info regarding him please contact me.

Celeste and Sandra have been located. Both alive and well. I still am looking for Col. Hampden H. Shepperd(my Great-grand-father). He was mayor of Littleton, Colorado during the late 1880's. He was reported to be a Railroad Man. I'm unable to find out any more. If anyone knows of him please reply.

Thank you so much for replying. Are your Aunt & Uncle still alive so we could ask them about my mom? My grandmother would not give me the Shepperd's name. In fact, she really didn't want to talk about it. She just the family was struggling at the time and my mother went to live with the Shepperd's for a while.

My grandmother's name is Opal Byram Cain Burdick. My grandfather was Dee Arthur Cain. Thanks for any help!

My ggrandfather Mark Moore left Ky. about 1880. He moved to Crawford Co. Ark where he is buried. His death certificate
list's his mother's name as Shepperd(no first name, father's
name unkn). He had a brother Johnny who was shot and killed by the sheriff. My grandfather thinks he came from
Pulaski Co.

Hi, I have traced my family back to Shepperds in Somerset, Pulaski, Ky in 1880. They were William Stone Shepperd and Susannah (Susan) Shepperd. They had 7 children, Charles F. age 15, Francis B. age 14, William T. age 9, James J. age 7, Sarah E. age 6, Margaret age 4, and LuLu age 1. This information was taken from the 1880 Census. Desiree, I have something for you. Hampden Hiat Shepperd was indeed Mayor of Littleton. It looks like you have found the same things on the Internet that I have. The information you don't have is: He married Marie Louise Dunnica. They had 4 children: Frank, Thomas S., Orian, and Parker Dunnica. Shepperd Family in Alvin, Texas

Does anyone know of a Shepperd family living in Brazoria County, Alvin, Texas in 1960? I was told they were taking care of my mother, Josephine "Josie" Elizabeth Cain, and trying to adopt her at one time. This was probably around the late 1950s. Several years ago I found a small cedar box that was given to my mother and inside the box is inscribed:

"Jo Cain - I give this jewel box to you this April 14 day of 1960 as a token of my love. Mama Shepperd, Alvin, Texas."

If anyone can help identify "Mama Shepperd"? One gentleman had emailed me a couple of years ago and knew this family in Alvin, TX. I believe he said the Shepperd couple were divorced, but I'm not certain. Mr. Shepperd was possibly a deputy in Alvin.

i was born 4-28-1969 troup county lagrange georgia and was given up for adoption. i was led to believe my last could have been shepperd or some kind of spelling of it. i also was led to believe my family worked at the old calloway mills there. i have no anger towards birth mom i just so desire to find her or anyone who is related. i ws told that my birth mom bought one thing for me and i still have it as proof if the story is true. i was born strawberry blonde hair blue eyes. i am now 6 feet tall with two kids and one has the same hair color as i did. any info about any birth family members who want to know me can. phone 3047454439
