For reference sake of future researchers, MaryEtta Sherd was indeed the daughter of Charles *Emmons* Sherd. I believe that 'Emmaus' was a transcription error somewhere along the line because the name consistantly reappears as Emmons in others of the same family who stayed in MI. Emmons is also the maiden name of Charles' paternal grandmother, Anna, who m. William SHERD 1801 in Hunterdon Co., NJ.
I have quite a bit of information on the SHERD and EMMONS families and am willing to share and compare.

Hi
My ancester, Stephen Sherd, was born in Mirfield, Yorkshire, workhouse in 1784. His mother, Hannah, was thrown out of her family home because she was unmarried and pregnant. Later, when only six years old, Stephen was despatched to the cotton mills in Saddleworth, Lancashire.
I hope to trace Hannah's descendants back to Hugo del Sherd, who lived in the Disley area of Macclesfield Forest in the 13th century.
I have lived in the Macclesfiedl area for most of my life.
Any information would help.
Thanks.
Peter Sheard.

Etta SHERD

I'm looking for any relatives of Etta M. Sherd who
was born in 1875 and died in 1934. She is from
Cannon Falls, Minnesota. I believe that Sherd may be
is her married, not maiden name. I also believe
that she had a daughter named Helen Sherd (DOB:
10-23-1907, DOD: 6-26-1998, Minneapolis)

Etta's parent's or parent in-laws would have
been Charles Emmaus SHERD and Alice Lelia ROATH.

Does anyone have any relation or knowledge
of Etta?

Thanks in advance.

Caroline Sherd

I found a marriage of a Caroline Sherd to an August Jalafsky in 1902 in Chicago IL. We have an August Jalafsky in our line that has been confusing us for quite some time. Our August was born in 1844 in Germany and was married to an Anna Pranski. We lost track of him after the 1880 census.

There is yet another August who married a Bertha Boney in 1879 in Chicago, which couldn't be ours because ours is on the 1880 still married to Anna. Does anyone have this Caroline in there family? There was a stepdaughter living with them on the 1920 census named Emma Shidt... Thank you for any help in advance.

I have recently started research on Sherds in Minnesota.
Etta Sherd was never married and her Parents are indeed Charles and Alice. I have 1880 Census that list 5 year old daughter Marey. I also Have Etta(Marey's) obituary 13 July 1934. She had 3 brothers Donahue, Alonzo, Raymond. Helen was Alonzos daughter. I Have more info on Grandparents and nieces and nephews etc. I have reason to believe Etta's Grandfather and my GrandMother were Brother and Sister. Email me for more info
Dave
