Hello there. Does anyone know Veronica Shimp D.O., who is a GYN doctor/ surgeon, as well as an oncologist. When she practiced in Dearborn, Mich., she did my surgery and saved my life.Then she moved to the Orlando , FL. :-(
I frankly don't know if Shimp is her married name or her family name.
In the summer of ' 07 , her baby daughter was about one year old.

My father was not your Grandfather Lloyd, but they were most likely related somewhere in the past. My father, Lloyd Shimp was born in Lucas County, Iowa, His father, my grandfather, was James Edward Shimp, born in Monroe County, Ohio, his father, my great grandfather, was Jonas D. Shimp, born in Virginia, his father, my great, great grandfather, was John Shimp, born in Pa, his father, my great, great, great grandfather, was John Shimp, born in Pa and his father, my great, great, great, great grandfather, was Johan Jacob Schimpp, born in Germany. The name changed over time to include spellings of Schimpf,Schimpp, Shimpp, Shemp and Schemp as the family moved Westward and also Eastward from their port of landing. You mention a Lloyd Shimp is your father. My grandfather was a Lloyd Shimp, who lived in Gordonsville, VA, then migrated north, eventually dying somewhere in upstate New York. I don't suppose that'd be the same man would it?

Hi, I might be able to give you some information. I am related to John (Jack) Shimp--he was my grandmother's younger brother. Uncle Jack and Aunt Lill lived in Naperville, Illinois. She died in the 1980s and is buried in the Naperville Cemetery. One of her daughters is still alive and living in Oswego, Illinois. I talked to her the other day--I can put you in contact with her if you like. I was also told, by my grandmother, that Lill worked as a maid for the Mitchell family in Naperville before she married Jack. That house is now the Martin-Mitchell Museum-part of Naper Settlement.

Anthony and Clarinda Shimp Shreckengaust were my husbands great-grandparents. We have been looking for info on Clarinda's sibblings. They migrated to Jasper County, Mo shortly after their marriage in 1866 and had nine children. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Clarinda's grandfather was William Schimp b 1781 Lancaster County, Pa. He died 1840 in Fairfield County, Ohio. Her father was David. We have no data on Clarinda's sibblings.

I am trying to find out information on my ancestor Lillian Bolton Shimp; she was married to a John Alfred Shimp and they lived in either Illinois (where Lillian was born) or in Indiana. No native american heritage in my line ... My shimp Ancestor, David Fry Shimp, was born in Reamstown, Lancaster Co, PA, and, after serving in the civil war, settled in Buckskin Township, Ross County, Ohio (buried in Greenfield Cemetery, Highland Co)

David (1836 - 1918) married Josephine FLINT (1847 - 1923) and they had a mess of kids: Clara, Arthur, Oliver Jason, Mary, & Bertha (Oliver is my great grandfather).

David's ancestry:

Andreas (Andrew) W. SHIMP (1798 - 1850) and Susanna FRY (1799 - aft 1860)
Andrew Christian SHIMP (1759-1838) and Elizabeth MUELLER/Miller (1736-1838)

Am researching Shimp also and have found them in PA in 1800, 1810, VA in 1820, 1830, 1840, 1850 then into Kansas and now into Oklahoma. The female ancestor of some of the present day Shimp family was from Missouri. Hope this helps.

Shimko-Slovac Surnames

Diane, My mother's family is from a line of Shimko's thought to be Slovac. We have had some indications of being from Hungary. There is a web site I found that was something along the lines of the Catholic Encyclopedia (sorry I don't have the URL for you). There is a large passage there that addresses the Slovaks, Poles and other names of such. I think it gives some good insite as to why there may be confusion about the origin of some surnames like Shimko. This may be of interest to you - cant say it will clear anything up but could explain why you find that some come from Hungary, Austria and surrounding areas.

He married 1st to an unknown woman and had a daughter named Margaret Clarabell, b.July 6, 1918; she married a STAGGERS. Then Arthur married my grandmother, Minnie Myrtle ALDRICH, b. Does anybody have any information on Rebecca Shimp born around 1864 of a George E. Shimp? I've seen a website that has George E. Shimp listed as her father and Savannah Shaeffer as her mother. However, there is a George E. (1835) and Lusannah Shimp burried in the same graveyard as Rebecca. I think he is the son of George Shimp and Susanna Eberly. Would love to connect Rebecca to him.
