I need some help tracing one of the children of Christopher (Christian) Shire.

The 1870 census in Ohio shows Christian and his wife Martha having a daughter, Sarah E. Shire born abt. 1858. However, she is not listed on the 1860 census with the family.

I believe I found her on the 1910 Indiana census married to a Lewis Copeland, who was born in 1836. She is listed as having 5 children with 5 living. The census also states that Lewis and Sarah were married for 4 years. Lewis Copeland died in 1914 in Indiana.

There is a marriage record for a Sarah C Copeland and William H Tice in Indiana on 19 Oct 1916. They are listed together on the 1920 Indiana census.

Christian's obituary in 1913 lists his surviving daughter, Sarah C. Copeland living in Indiana. A grave next to Christian in Illinois is for "Tice, Catherine Shire, Wife Wm. 1858-1924".

I'm wondering why she is not listed in the 1860 census with Christian and Martha. Could she have been adopted? And I cannot locate her after the 1870 census until the 1910 census mentioned above.

I'm showing a birthdate for her as 01 Feb 1858. I've scoured as many on-line records as my eyes can handle for marriage records in Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio. And I've searched through census data for a "Sarah C" in those three states as well.

Does anyone have any information on her? I've seen several postings on her father, Christian and her brother, John Wesley. Perhaps someone has come across family information for her?
