My relationship is through the CROZIER line.

I don't know the parents of Edward Shirely. First time I find him is in 1850 census of Cass Twp. Hancock Co. OH with first wife; then 1870 Bloom Twp. Wood Co. OH again with wife Martha Ann HENDERSON.

I know that Martha Ann was the daughter of Andrew Henderson Sr and his wife Catherine. She was a sister of Andrew Henderson [jr] who married Catherine CROZIER b. 21 Dec 1821 and was the sister of Edward SHIRELY's 2nd wife Elizabeth CROZIER b. 8 Jan 1837 d. 21 Apr 1887 Emerson, Gratiot Co. MI. They were daughters of John CROZIER and his first wife, Elizabeth GRIMM of Hancock Co. OH. My ancestor was their brother John CROZIER, Jr.

I have some information on this family. Edward SHIRELY b. abt Mar 1818 Maryland m. 3 Sep 1873 Hancock Co. OH to Elizabeth CROZIER [d/o John & Elizabeth] b. 8 Jan 1837 Hancock Co. OH; d. before Dec 1898 probably in Ithaca, Gratiot Co. MI. Children: Minnie E. SHIRELY b. Dec 1874 OH wife of William BAUDDIS; and John Edward SHIRELY b. 24 Sep 1878 OH m. Lucy May .....

Edward SHIRELY had previously married at Hancock co. OH on 31 Mar 1844 to Martha Ann HENDERSON and had a number of children: Anthony, David, William, Francis, Sarah Elizabeth, Louisa and Jacob.

Shirley Family of Chatterly, Wolstanton, Staffordshire

George Orton Shirley (b. March 11, 1879 in Chatterly, Longport, Wolstanton, Staffordshire) was the son of Louisa Hillman and William Shirley, a commission agent. He emigrated to Canada (ca. 1905) and worked on trains and as a bookkeeper in gold mining towns. He was a pioneer in my hometown of Red Lake in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. He served in the First World War, and died in a veteran's hospital in 1965 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

On one mining employment record dated 1941, he listed his next-of-kin as "Mrs. William Adams, Llandudno, North Wales."

One pioneer thought he had a married son in eastern Canada, who visited Red Lake ca. 1960. Since George had possibly a son and at least one sister, I would very much like to find any of his family so as to share information I have gathered.

I believe I am your cousin. Lynn Shirely is my father. I too have traced the name back to Edward, John's father. Found the reply by Jerry Stout very interesting. Let me know if you have found anything new. I have started a tree and would like any info you have.

George was the son to Noah Andrew Shirley and Mary Jane Osborne.

Noah Andrew Shirley married to Mary Jane Osborn is the son of William Shirley who was married to Mary A ?
And his father was Noah Shirley…abt 1809. Do you have any information on all the other lines and possibly further back than Noah Shirley of 1809?
My daughters are finally interested in their family history and I’m trying to help them.

I connect with your John SHIRELY through his grandfather, John CROZIER of Hancock Co. OH. John Crozier named his two grandchildren, Minnie Shirely and John Shirely, of Ithaca, Michigan in his estate dated 1898 in Hancock Co. Ohio. His daughter Elizabeth CROZIER married at Hancock Co. OH on 3 Sep 1873 to Edward SHIRELY. Elizabeth was deceased before 1898... I found her husband Edward SHIRELY aged 81yr in 1900 census Gratiot Co. Mich with his sond John b. Sep 1878 OH and his daughter and son in law, Minnie b. Dec 1874 OH and William BAUDDIS b. Apr 1873 OH.

I have the a lot on the Crozier ancestry which I'd be happy to share.

I know grandma shirley's great grandmother, Hannah Thacker Ward, was the daughter of Chief Nettle Carraier, she married "Big" Joe Copeland. Hi Doyle: Noah Shirley is my grandfather, Mary Jane Osborn-Shirley is my grandmother. My mother is Cora Lily Shirley-Clark, she married Carl Clifford Clark of Calf Killer Ridge, they lived in Monterey when I was born, we then moved back to Dayton, Ohio. Levy was Grandpa's brother. Of the 11 kids my grandparents had, only four are still with us. Pearl Shirley-Maples lives in Friendship, Tn; Curtis Shirley lives in Southern Indians; Dimple Shirley-Williams lives in Beavercreek, Ohio (suburb of Dayton) and my mom, Cora lives in a nursing home in Bradford, PA not far from me. She fell and broker her hip in the hospital in Dayton, Ohio so my husband and I brought her up here. We live in Salamanca, NY on my husband's reservation, mom is about 11 miles from us. My dad also lives with us. Looks like are cousins and it's always good to hear from family. I am currently doing our genealogy and have run into so many snags, records just weren't kept when our grandparents and their parents were around I guess. take care, Tesha Jimerson
