Some of my people were "brown", that is - mixed race. I'm looking for SHOATs that lived in Roane, McMinn, and Monroe Counties in eastern Tennessee from current to before 1860.

Smallwood Connection to Shoat - Choat family?

Does anyone have a Smallwood connection to the Shoat family?
We are looking for ancestors of Churchwell B. Smallwood (b abt 1810) and Sarah Shoat/Choate? (b abt 1814). They were married and lived in McNairy Co. TN at least from about 1830 on. Thanks, Catherine

Looking for info on GGGmother Elendar/Elender Shote brn abt 1801 Ky. She,m,GGGfather William B Seitz brn abt 1803 NC,and lived in Warren/Marion/Sequachie/Grundy Co's of Tn abt 1824.Daughter of Elender was Mary Seitz,(my GGmother) brn abt 1824 Tn,m,Silas Lankford brn abt 1812 Tn.I believe that Elender was full blood Cherokee from Ky,and possibly relative to War Chief, Cunne Shote(Hope of Chota)Stalking Turkey,LongHair Clan?.

Im looking for any information on a Benjamin Shoat born in Arkansas in or around 1860. Married a Zora Shoat when he was 40 and she was 27. Father was from Georgia and Mother was from Tennessee.

Listed children from the 1900 census is as follows
Lester
George Washington Shoat who is my great grandfather
Jim
William

There were two more children. the children were orphaned when my great grandfather George was about 10 years old.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any information on Prudie Shoat who married S H Hodge Nov.28,1886 Hill County Texas? I am very interested in any Shoat family that might have gone to Texas, Had Hodge relatives, or ended up in Garvin County Oklahoma.
