E D Shoemake/ Wilson Co., TN (maybe Smith Co)

Hello looking for any info on E D Shoemake. Could possibly be Ed Shoemake. Specifically trying to find who his parents are. The only thing I have found is the marriage lic. to Cassie Johnson 12 Aug 1888. The only census I can find that comes close is with Mike & Mesia as being parents, but I do not know for sure this is the correct match. Any tidbits would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Looking for info on Lena and Lela Shoemake of Tennessee

Hi, I am trying to find anything on Lena and/or Lela Shoemake. The only things I can find are: 1910-1930 censuses that show Lena married to Charlie Martin (one recards shows Chrley Martin & Lena Shoemach, 1 Aug 1906, Wilson, TN and Charlie Martin & Lena Shoemacker. I have been told it really is Shoemake, not 'mach or 'maker and that her mothers name was Cassie Lela that married Ed Shoemake. Lela's last name was Johnson (or possibly McDonald). Ed & Lela & Charlie were all from either Smith County or DeKalb County, Tennessee.

Any clues would be greatly appreciates... Thanks Mickey

Angela,
The family that I am interested in includes a John Shoemake born in 1865. I have copies of the entry for the family in the 1870 and 1880 census in Smith Co TN. The family moved to Delta Co TX between 1880 and 1900 and shows up on the census there. On the 1900 census, John is not listed with the family. He would have been 35 then though. The father of this family is Frank Shoemake. If you think this could be your great-grandfather and want copies of the censuses, drop me an e-mail or respond here.
Dave

I am not familiar with anyone named Sampson S. Shoemake. But we are still researching the family line and there are still quite a few members that have "fallen through the cracks", so to speak. If you can give me his date of birth, place of birth, date of death, place of death, siblings' names, children's names and any other info that you have, I will see if I can find out if he is related to us. I worked with a lady on a book --- the first ever --- of my Shoemake(r) line last year and there are a couple of people listed in it by the names of "Sam Shoemaker" and "Sam Otis Shoemaker" but no birth dates, etc. for either of them. Also, what was Melissa's last name, etc.? I would be willing to correspond with you further, if you wish to. You can e-mail me directly at: butterfly1058@hotmail.com. Also, I am researching adjoining Shoemake(r) lines and it is possible that your ancestor may be through one of those lines.
I can tell you that my ancestors were in the following states: MS, AR, LA, TX, and possibly TN

I am trying to figure out if my GGGgrandmother's maiden name was Millsaps or Shumaker!

She was married to Elza/Elzie Myers, son of Ezekiel Myers and lived in Wilkes Co. and in 1860 they lived in Iredell County.

In the 1850 census in Wilkes, they have a "Betsy Shoemake(r)" living with them, and old enough to be Caroline's mother.

And on her daughter, Eliza Robena Myer's death certificate, Caroline's maiden name is Shumaker and she was born in Iredell County.

BUT, on the cemetery record at Round Mountain Baptist Church in Wilkes, where Caroline and Elzie are buried, her maiden name is listed as Millsaps!

Any information on her and her family would be greatly appreciated!

Cox and Emma Webb. These families are my children's ancestors, grands and great grands. All members are deceased including the father of my children and I have no information re: their heritage.
Connie,

I know next-to-nothing about these people! The date is wrong for your Alley to be my Alphonso. Alphonso was born in Jan. 1900 and died Sept. 1961. He was my husband's father and my very young husband died at age 26 in 1962, less than a year after his dad. It is true that the family says the Shoemakes were Indian, and more than likely they're related. I just can't get a grasp on who's related to whom and where the missing link is. Alphonso's father was Calvin Lawrence. Is he in your list?
