Ralph Walter Shoemaker

I am trying to find information on my grandfather, Ralph Walter Shoemaker. I know he was married to my grandmother, Laquita J Ford, in Bradford Co., Florida in 1952. They had two sons, Ralph Walter Jr. and Ronald Wayne. Both of which were born in Palakta Florida according to what I have been told (no documents, sorry)
I do not know if he was born in Florida, but that branch of the family seems to stay in the Florida and Georgia areas. Any information or leads would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Simon Shoemaker

Hello,

Simon moved to Fairfield Co., Ohio with his family in 1846 but then decided to move back to PA in 1854, according to "Shoemaker Pioneers." Several of his brothers lived in Fairfield Co., Ohio but they all decided to stay in Ohio. Many descendants still live in the area (me included).

I wasn't aware of a daughter named Sarah b. 1835 so I was very excited to read your post. "Shoemaker Pioneers" says that Simon and his wife Sarah/Mary Walton had a daughter named Mary Jane. May I ask where you found the info on daughter Sarah? I would love to check it out and follow this lead. I have been researching the Shoemakers for the past 20 years and have amassed quite a bit of info and would love to add this info to my files.

Thanks so much!
Jodie Shumaker Robinson

Trying to figure out who's who in 1860 Upper Mount Bethel PA census Shoemaker family

I have found out through my gg grandmother's death certificate from Shiawasee County, MI that her parents were Christopher Shoemaker and Elizabeth Miller. My gg grandmother was born in Upper Mount Bethel Aug. 20, 1857. I found the 1860 census that has a Shoemaker family that includes Christopher and Elizabeth Shoemaker. Problem is, there are two women named Elizabeth Shoemaker, who would be young enough to have a two year old daughter. All the household members were, in order listed on census; Henry 45, Christopher 42, Elizabeth 34, George 24, Enos 6, John 4, Catherine 2. All of them were Shoemakers, Henry, Christopher and Elizabeth were born in Baden Germany. Younger ones were born in Pennsylvania. Others were Reuben Miller 20 b. in Penn. and Elizabeth Shoemaker 24 b. in Baden Germany.
Where I am confused is which children belong to which parents. And which Elizabeth is Catherine's mother. Is George Henry's son? Or was he Christopher's son from a previous marriage? I can not find Christopher, Elizabeth or Catherine in the 1870 census. Catherine ended up marrying Michael Reimel in 1878. Their oldest child was born in 1878 in PA. Their next daughter was born in Michigan in 1883. Can anyone out there help fill in any of the blanks?

Katherine Shoemaker, from a twin birth, married to Michael Reimel

My gg grandmother, Katherine Shoemaker, was born in 1857, in Pennsylvania. It is believed that she was a twin. She married Michael Reimel, born in 1856. Michael also was a twin. His twin brother was named William. Katherine's mother's maiden name may have been Siebert. My grandmother has a wool blanket that was woven in Easton, Pennsylania that was woven by someone with the last name Siebert, from about 1810.

Lisa,
I'm sorry but I do not have any info about this family. I did find my William Shoemaker, but he was not of this family.
My husband's Pate line does not connect to my mother's Shoemaker line.
I checked the Pate message boards on Rootsweb but did not find any Shoemaker/Logsdon/Pate connection except for a Martha Ann and maybe a Nancy Logsdon who married into Pate. However, some Pate researcher might be interested to know of your Elizabeth Pate marrying Logsdon. Perhaps you would consider posting on the Rootsweb Listserve at this address: Pate@rootsweb.com
Sorry I could not be of any help.
Karen.
I've been looking for someone who might have more information on this family and as to why she was only on the 1870 census, she was 2 years old.

The information I have on Henry is born 4 Oct 1905 in PA, and death date as 30 Sep 1905, Lake City Cemetery in Calhoun County, Iowa.

We may have a connection. My grandmother was married (once or twice) prior to becoming a Jobe. I can't recall the name. She had one child with him. I want to say it was Parker. She had three children with Jobe. I regret to say she passed 22 Oct 08. Sorry it has been so late to respond. I'm currently in Germany - would be interested to know where the Shoemaker's are from in Europe.

obit for Charles Shoemaker, born 1876 Ohio, died 1941 Kansas

Minneapolis Messenger, Ottawa County, Kansas, May 8, 1941, page 8:
CHARLEY SHOEMAKER DIES SUDDENLY
Charles Lewis Shoemaker, sixty-four years old, well known resident of Minneapolis for many years, died Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. following a cerebral hemorrhage which occurred less than three hours before. Charley was at the depot at his regular transfer business, when the attack struck him.
Charley Shoemaker had been in the transfer business in Minneapolis for thirty-seven years. He started back in the days before trucks were thought of, when the transfer business was handled by horse drawn drays. He had seen business houses come and go in the city and his business had changed with the times, modernizing when trucks began to be the common method of hauling express packages and freight. Several other men have been in the same business, but through the years Charley Shoemaker has been reliable and dependable.
He was born at Hillsburg, Ohio, Nov. 16, 1876. He came to Kansas with his parents when he was only three years of age, and they lived in the old Pawnee Gap school house, half of which was used as a residence and half for school purposes in those days. He came to town in 1900 and went into the dray business three years later.
He leaves his wife, Carrie Cline Shoemaker, two daughters and one son, Mrs. Ballard Jones and Miss Neva Shoemaker, both of Salina, and Carl Shoemaker, of Camp Robinson, Arkansas. He also leaves three brother, George, Vess and Tom, all of Minneapolis and vicinity.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon of this week, at the Methodist Church, at 2:30, with Rev. Fred Blanding in charge. In the meantime the body will lie in state at the R.S. Todd Funeral Home.

I have been told it could be Shoemake also.Lena's mother was possibly Cassie Lela that married Ed Shoemaker. Lela's last name was Johnson (or possibly McDonald). Ed & Lela & Charlie were all from either Smith County or DeKalb County, Tennessee.

Any clues would be greatly appreciates... Thanks Mickey

She was my great-grandmother. She married Benjamin Lewis in Mississippi, was apparently born in Mississippi, but in the 1880 census is listed as a cousin to the head-of-household, Macon French, in Jasper County MS. Her father was listed as born in Missouri and her mom in MS, but neither's name was given. Anyone out there have anyone in their tree that sounds familiar?

What can you tell us about Robert and Lillian? When were they born (even a guess)? Children's names (besides Herbert)? Places they may have lived? I see a R&L in St Louis in 1930, but they were in their 20s and maybe way too young to be your great-grandparents. The more you can tell us, the better chance of our helping you.
