Classification: Marriage
Surnames: Shook, Purvine, Moore, Childress, Harris, Beard, Warren, Latimer
Appears in the Terrell Times-Star, Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas, 16 June 1893 ...
t the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Shook, in this city last Tuesday evening at half past 7 o'clock, Mr. D. M. Purvine and Miss Laura Shook were made as one. The wedding was an extremely quiet affair. Present and witnessing the ceremony were the immediate member of the family, Rev. H. O. Moore, the officiating clergyman, Mra. A. J. Childress, Mr. and Mrs. J. B Harris, Miss Fannie Beard, Robert L. Warren and R. E. Latimer. After the ceremony the couple repaired to the Texas & Pacific depot preparatory to their departure on the west bound cannon ball, but as the train was four hours late the party returned to the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Harris, where a reception was held until the near approach of train time. At 12:30 a.m. the train arrived and Mr. and Mrs. Purvine took their departure for Manitou Springs, Colorado, where a two week's honeymoon will be spent. At the end of that time they will return and make this their home.
Thus, by Cupid's inflexible decree, the social circle of the city has suffered another severe detraction. The Times-Star joins a host of friends in wishing to Mr. and Mrs. Purvine a life of unalloyed pleasure and happiness.
