J. Lloyd Shores
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--Funeral services for J. "Lloyd" Shores will be held Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Bradley-Finney Chapel in Chilhowie with Rev. Bob McCormick officiating. Interment will follow at Anderson Cemetery in Adwolfe, Va. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral chapel. There will be a memorial service for friends who wish to attend at the Greenwood Christian Church on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, from 5 to 8 p.m., 2045 Averitt Road, Greenwood, Ind. (317) 881-9336.
Mr. Shores, 64, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Wishard Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis. Mr. Shores was retired from Wabash Ford Sales & Service. He was a builder of sprint, midget and champ dirt cars for many years and was active in the U.S.A.C. and local racing circuit. In recent years, he spent his time with his sons building and racing go carts. There will be a memorial race this weekend at the Indianapolis Fairground in Indianapolis in honor of Mr. Shores' love and dedication to the sport. Mr. Shores was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Lloyd Shores.
Survivors include; his wife, Beverly J. Shores; his children, Brenda L. Wessel of Indianapolis, Scott David Shores of Indianapolis, Todd A. Shores of Indianapolis and Jason L. Shores of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; his mother, Rosa Lee Shores of Chilhowie; two sisters, Moelina McCormick of Chilhowie and Shelby Taylor of Chilhowie; six brothers, Jack Shores of Chilhowie, William Alf Shores of Chilhowie, James L. Shores of Clinton, Iowa, Bill F. Shores of Clinton, Carroll A. Shores of Seven Mile Ford, Va., and Warren F. Shores of Marion, Va.
Bradley-Finney Funeral Chapel, 307 Old Stage Road, Chilhowie, VA 24319, is serving the family of Mr. Shores.
