Good afternoon,
Sorry to be so late in responding, but have had computer problems.
Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the Shoults you are asking about. My research into the Shoults family is not nearly as complete as I would like, but I've been told all my life that if the name is spelled as we do, we are related somehow.
I have moved from Tennessee to Texas, and all my research papers are still packed, but I will try to relay what I have from memory.
I was born in Memphis, TN in 1943, and my Father's name was Joe Burney Shoults, born in 1898, also in Memphis
His Father was John Shoults, Born in DeSoto Co, MS in 1877 (+/-).
His Father was James Shoults, born in Henderson Co, TN in 1842.
His Father was Colbert Shoults, born in Anson Co, NC in 1812(+/-)
His Father was another James, born in Anson Co, NC in 1788 (+/-)
Last one I have been able to find was another John, Born in Anson Co, NC in 1744 (+/-) He was killed by his slave, "Toney" and his wife was left destitute. However she married the neighbor that bought all of John's property.
I do have other listings of sons and daughters for reference, but as I said before, I'm going by memory right now. Because of that, I can't state for certain that all the dates are correct, but they are going to be close.
Hoping this will help you in your quest.
Ken Shoults
kashoults@yahoo.com

John Shoults and Caroline Wilkerson (nee Gibson)

Is anyone out there related to this couple? I found a marriage license from Belleville, IL for Aug 29, 1888.
He says his parents are Joseph Shoults and, it looks like, Constance unknown (I'm taking it as Constance Constant). Her parents are George Gibson and Elizabeth Creston. Caroline was born in England, John in St. Louis Co., MO. Both are 48 years old. This is his third marriage. Does anyone know his 1st two wifes? Any children?

Married a Rachel? and had two daughters, Margaret and Martha C. If you have anyone researching Jacob's line please have them email me. Thanks.
Olivia Wolken

I have recently been looking at some old posts for the Hart and family. I believe that Rhoda Hart's daughter, Melissa, married an Offutt before marrying Jesse Kidd in Missouri as appears on the 1850 federal census. Clarissa Offut (daughter of Melissa Hart/Offutt/Kidd) then married Nelson Shoults and they all went to Texas. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? I'm really trying to tie everyone together, and find my missing Offutt father.
I belive my Nelson Shoults is the son of Israel Shoults and Pelagia Valle, etc.
Cheers
Marci

Solomon is listed as one of George's sons (George had died ~ early 1843).

Olive is George's widow; Solomon was her son. I'm not sure how Jacob fits in, but I've seen others discussing this either here or on Genforum.

Peter is probably one of Sol's cousins. George had had a brother named Pierre (Peter), long dead by 1850, and this might be his son or grandson.

There are lots of related Shoults families in that area. I'd search here and on genforum for Peter and Jacob and see who else has made specific entries.

How are these related? Are they brother and sister in law and sons? This Jacob is NOT Jacob Israel. This Jacob was born around 1787 in Kentucky, Jacob Israel was born in 1813.
I have been told Olive Rauze married George Shoults. Had George died by 1850? Olive and Jacob are about the same age and living next to each other in Meramec Missouri (Jefferson County). Is Jacob a brother of George? Olive appears to be living with her son, Solomon, age 28. Peter F. Shoults is living next to them and age wise (30) could be her son and Solomon's brother. Does anyone know for sure?
Israel was the husband of Pelagia (Eliza) Vallé, seen as Valley sometimes, and the son of George Shoults, Sr. and Victoire Tesson dit Honoré.

THEIR parents were Christopher Schültz and Barbara Chary (and her last name has been spelled about eight different ways, so take it with a grain of salt, sugar, and three cloves) and Louis Tesson dit Honoré and Magdeline Peterson (also seen as Pitre).

Christopher may have been in the Revolutionary War, but we don't have anything hard-and-fast yet. Just some leads. We don't know his folks.

This gets a lot more involved and you may want to check into the Shoults board that a group of us are involved in. He was a widower with 6 children whom she married in 1919 & then they had a further 8 children .
I know very little of either of these families as my Dad was brought up by his maternal grandmother & had very little to do with his mother., OR HIS HIS FATHER'S FAMILY
I would love to find out more about either
Sheila Collin ( nee Byworth)
Gold Coast .

My father-in-law was John (known as Jack) Byworth of London born 1900. In 1912 he was run over by the first London automatic bus. He was compensated and hospitalised and since that incident always walked with a limp. His father was a widower and he took up with a younger woman with the compensation money. Jack, as he was known, becames a pastry cook and married Violet Joyce formally of Stratford-upon-Avon in 1928. They lived in London in Bedfordberry buildings WC1 until they were demolished when they moved to Ebury Bridge Road Victoria SW1.

Re: Laura Shoults & Vivian A. Robinson - St. Clair Co., IL/St. Louis, MO > CA > AZ

I have been told they were brother and sister. First I've heard of the step-father, though, but how many guys named "Vivian A." and associated with the Robinsons AND a "Florence" could there BE?!?! ;)

Evidently, "Uncle Viv" changed his name to Victor later on, as that was the name he was buried under in Phoenix, AZ. But that was not his name originally.

Where did Vickerman live in the city? This gang was largely around Carondelet.

Thanks for the note! Oh, and BTW, Florence died in late December 1953 in St. Louis and is buried in Lakewood Park Cemetery in Affton, St. Louis, MO. Vivian/Victor A. died around 19 October 1962 and is buried in Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.

WAIT A MINUTE...there was a picture of somebody in the Shoults family and after them it had "SHARP."

We thought it was a comment. I'll see what I can find...

Laura Shoults & Vivian A. Robinson - St. Clair Co., IL/St. Louis, MO > CA > AZ

LAURA SHOULTS, daughter of Joseph Alanzo Shoults and Matilda “Tillie” Anderson, was born around 1893, and probably in St. Clair Co., IL, where her sisters and brothers were born.

Siblings included Stephen Anderson, Calvin Brooks, Bertha Belle, Blanche Martha, and Rosanna “Annie” Shoults. She also had some half-brothers from Joe’s first marriage.

Laura married Vivian A. Robinson, and we assume this is about 1912 in either Illinois or the nearby St. Louis area.

Evidently, the family moved to the California area and later ended up in Arizona, where presumable Laura and Vivian moved away.

Known/purported children of Laura Shoults and Vivian Robinson are:

i. Edna Robinson, born about 1913 in Missouri (probably St. Louis)

ii. Harold Robinson, born about 1914 in Missouri (probably St. Louis)

iii. Elroy Robinson, born about 1914 in Missouri (probably St. Louis)

iv. Herbert Robinson.

Descendants of Joe, as well as descendents of Joe’s siblings, have an active partnership going in searching for our family roots (much of it French-Canadian). Although we don’t know when brother Stephen died, nor where he’s buried, the WILD CARD in the family is still Laura and what became of her and her brood.

Drop me – and thus “us” – a line, okay? For it is quite possible some of Laura and Vivian's kids are still out there, somewhere!!!!

jEz

Thanks Randy. My ancestor (George) was a little later but he came from the vicinity of Carlisle or Lancaster, PA. I do know that he moved his family to Ohio near Coshocton. He wanted to return to PA but his wife Content did not want to return, for whatever reason. He left and was never heard from again. I have seen her tombstone and she is buried next to one of her sons. She filed for a divorce from George but the courts denied her request. I have also seen variations in the spelling, but my Grandmother, etc. spelled it Shoults. Walt

My John Shoults was born in York Co. PA in 1781 and died in Ohio. When they changed the spelling it put up a brick wall. I know he spoke German and I have a great deal of info from him forward. This spelling is really rare so you would think they would be easy to find.
This is my earliest ancestor, he was married to Drucilla Howard and they both are buried in Ross Cty., Ohio. Their son John b. Oct 31, 1781 married Mary Flood-Cochran, she was from Ireland and had one son. They had 6 children and from there they branched out to Indiana, Oklahoma, California, Missouri, and Ohio. I would like more information about the Shoults Family reunion. John had a brother, Christian, that emigrated to Indiana but I have almost no information about him or his family. I would love to compare notes with anyone that may have a connection to this family. I can be reached at dlpobrn@aol.com. Hoping to hear from anyone! TIA, Diane
Other family names: Storms/Sturm and Christman

Hi, My connection is my grandfather's brother, David O. Shoults b. Nov 6, 1882 in either Ross Cty, Ohio or Templeton, Indiana. He worked for a railroad and at some point was in Clarksburg, Missouri where he married Eva Blanche Brown on May 3rd, 1906. They had 3 children that I know of, Blanche M., Betty Jane and David Eugene but I have no birthdates or birthplaces for any of them. Great-uncle David died in Long Beach, CA in Dec of 1967. I have parents and siblings for David and some history of the family. Another brother, Charles, did a family tree in 1942 and sent it to my grandfather, some of the information is incorrect but I have found the answers. There is also a long narrative written by some family members describing their life back in the mid-1800's that is really interesting. My great-grandparents were Alexander Shoults and Jane Christman. Hope we have a connection.
Cheers, Diane Pugliese dlpobrn@aol.com

He was also in the railroad-- an engineer. Eugene and Frances were unable to have children of their own and adopted one daughter, Mary Ann Shoults. She married Donald Malcolm Davis and their first son, Eugene Davis is my husband. Mary Ann does not know much about the Shoults side of her family, so everything posted here is very interesting! Eugene David died in 1993 in Denver. Please let me know if you'd like any more information about this side of the family!

I was wondering if you had any further information on Vivian A. Robinson, who married Laura Shoults abt. 1912, and on Florence Robinson who married Stephen Anderson Shoults abt 1914. Could they have been brother and sister? I’m looking for info on Vivian A. Sharp and Florence Sharp who were raised by their step-father, Vickerman Robinson (my greatgrandfather). They were living in St. Louis for the 1900 Census and some years thereafter. They may have adopted his name.
