I recently acquired a box of newspaper clippings that included the following undated clipping from the Cumberland, Maryland, "Times-News"
Adam B. Shreve - Petersburg - Adam B. Shreve, 91, Petersburg, died Thursday at Grant County Memorial Hospital.
A native of Grant County he was born March 31, 1871, a son of the late Charles and Emily (Kimble) Shreve.
He was a retired shoe shop operator and a member of Bethel Church of the Brethren. His wife, Mary Frances (Van Meter) Shreve, died in 1910.
Surviving are four daughters, Miss Grace Shreve and Mrs. Gladys Porter, Petersburg; Mrs. Floda White, Harman, and Mrs. Beulah Simmons, Shaw; three sons, Victor Shreve, Petersburg; Elvin Shreve, Landis, W. Va., and John Shreve, Hubbard, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Ida Getz, Landis; one brother, Shirden Shreve, Landis, and 21 grandchildren.
The body is at the Arnold Funeral Home where friends will be received. A service will conducted tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Petersburg Church of the Brethren by Rev. C. G. Hesse. Interment will be in Lahmansville Cemetery."
