BEESON — Byron D. Shrewsbury, 51, of Beeson, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton. Born September 27, 1957 at Princeton, he was the son of Denvil Shrewsbury and Joyce Tedder Shrewsbury of Pinoak. Mr. Shrewsbury was an employee of the Mercer County Board of Education for more than 20 years and was currently employed as a custodian at Athens Middle School. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a very quiet and gentle person with a sweet spirit. He liked to fish with his little buddy, “Tootie.” He was a loving husband, father, brother and son; the best father in the world. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Mary Akers Shrewsbury of the home; one son, Jereme Shrewsbury of Beeson and his fiancée Mandy Gillum; one daughter, Amy Lowe and her husband Freddie of Beeson; two grandchildren, Alaura Mitchem and Ariella Lowe; two sisters, Cindy Dorman and her husband Steven, and Sonia O’Dell and her husband Patrick all of Princeton; one brother, Brett Shrewsbury and his wife Diana of Pinoak; a son-in-law, Brian Mitchem of Kegley; and his special pet dog Weenie, “Tootie.” A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the Shrewsbury Cemetery at Nubbins Ridge with Pastor Reginald Blakewood officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Earnie Shrewsbury, E.J. Shrewsbury, Jordan Shrewsbury, Elmer Harmon, Pat O’Dell and Brett Shrewsbury. Steven Dorman will serve as honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family. Friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery. There will be no services at the funeral home.Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.bailey-kirk.com.
