Again, GREAT PICTURE. The balder man must be Strasburg as Perry Harrison Shroyer died with a full head of hair.

Thank you for your response.

Frank J. was born in 1874 and Ephraim died in 1897, therefore, I believe that the photo was taken between 1892 and 1897.

I have a second photo, enlarged from a very small snapshot, that had the names labeled as indicated. This appears to have been taken later that the other one. The four women standing side by side are only labeled as the Mrs. Shroyers. None of them are my grandmother (wife of William). She died in 1905.

John Francis Cotterill, brother of Mary Jane Shroyer, and seated on the lower right died in 1921. therefore this second photo must have been taken between 1905 and 1921.

Elmer in the second photo looks like it might be the third from the left standing in the back of photo #1.

The man standing to the right of Perry in photo #2 is Harry Strasburg, husband of Anna May Shroyer.

I am following the postings on Ephraim and Mary Jane (Cotterill) Shroyer Fam. I am the Coordinator for the Shroyer Family Surname, which Steve Koons has written about on these postings. I am also interested in getting the names of the Shroyers in the 1895-1890 picture. I thank you in advance for sharing these photos. It adds so much to the Shroyer Family History. Do you know exactly where these Shroyer pictures were taken such as town and state. Ephraim was in Dayton, Montgomery Co, OH when he died. Thanks in advance. Dottie Himes, wife of John Himes who is related to the Shroyers. Thanks to Steve Koons for his contribution too.

This is a WONDERFUL picture! I am digging thru the boxes of photos trying to find a particular one that is labeled...but the siblings are much older in my print. So far, I believe that the one standing on the left is Perry Harrison Shroyer...my husband's ancestor.

Hi... Sorry I didn't spot this sooner... it appears that maybe rootsweb is no longer sending me email notifications of postings, not sure why. I don't have tons on Ephraim's kids... but here goes... Not sure I would be any help with the photo, but I can relay a copy to the Shroyer mailing list I'm on and see if anyone can help? I'm trying to remember if there are pictures of any of these guys in the Dayton newspapers, don't see any mention of it in my notes though. I thought I had Ohio death certificates for a few of these guys, but had a database problem last year and "lost" a bunch. I likely have photos of the graves at Woodland cemetery floating around somewhere.

Steve Koons, Dayton, Ohio
wd8dcx@aol.com
(I'm descended from George Michael Koons and Susannah Shroyer of Maryland, but have never been able to identify her family, so as to connect to the rest of the Shroyers)

Descendants of Ephraim Shroyer

Generation No. 1

1.
Hi Moose118
(Might you be my cousin from my uncle Kenny & aunt Wilma Deans side of the family?)
I've been searching sporadically for over a year and about an hour or more a day for the past 2 months and just now came across your post! My grandpa is Fred A. Shroyer and my grandma is Hazel N. Shroyer Luke. I see it's been awhile since you were in Pueblo. I went back with my mother in march 2003 to visit her sister (My aunt. They are the last 2 surving children from the Shroyer/Luke marriage.) I wish now I would've been into Genealogy when I flew back there I could of, should of, gone to look up their vital records when I had the chance... Now that i think of it I did take some headstone pictures of some of the family. I'll need to find them.I would love to hear from you. Please email me, knuttyforknitting@yahoo.com i'll share anything I might have. Now i'm off to find the 1st part of this post,
Shroyers Untangled part 1. :o)
Sincerely,
Kelly M. (Granddaughter to the Shroyers)

My suspicion (no proof) is that he's the son of Robert J. and Anna M. Shroyer, both born 1884. They're in the 1920 census for Dayton, Montgomery Co, Ohio.

Robert and Anna's kids were Robert J., Mary A., and George A..... same names as George Albert's kids.

I'm not recognizing Robert and Anna, though... so no idea who their parents are so far. Don't see Robert and Anna at Woodland cemetery in Dayton.

There are a couple in the Ohio Death Certificate index that look likely.... two Anna's one died 10/12/1931 and one 4/11/1927 (maybe a little too young though) and a Robert I. not J. (could be a typo, or I could be reading the census wrong) who died 1/12/1935... all three died in Montgomery Co, Ohio.

Steve Koons, Dayton, Ohio

Steve Koons, Dayton, Ohio

As the result of a research request on my Schreyer family who was in Centre County, PA for a time, I have photos of the gravestones of Adam A. Schroyer, 1845-1922, his wife Etta F., 1853-1937, and (presumed) two daughters: Hannah B., 1886-1946 and Anna C. 1883-1955. Adam and Etta are on one side of the stone, and Hannah and Anna are on the other side. I don't know if this Schroyer family is related to my Schreyer family. If so, it may go back a way from here, but we could discuss that. In the meantime, if this is anyone's family, and you would like a copy of the photos emailed to you, please contact me at mlscpa@epix.net, and please put Schroyer in the subject line. This Schroyer family is buried at Union Cemetery, Bellefonte, Centre, PA.

Mary Lou

I believe this is the same as my John Henry Shroyer b. 23 Jun 1868, Ohio and his son John Wesley Shroyer b. 12 Jan 1890, Milan, Michigan and married to Edna Coral Dearth b. 2 Dec 1981, Ada. Ohio. I have Alice Rebecca Huff b. 12 Aug 1871 as the spouse of John Henry Shroyer. I suppose she could have been married to a man named Iams, before marrying John Henry Shroyer, the son of John F Shroyer b. 9 Sep 1833, Shelby County, OH and Sarah Ann Hudlow b 1843, Ohio.

If you want more ancestors, let me know.

We have a photo of Ephraim, Mary Jane and their nine children, but can only identify the one daughter (Anna) and one son (William). Can anyone help identify the other children (Perry Harrison, Rolla Lorenzo, Charles Edward, twins Ellsworth Benjamin and Elmer George, Bert Dow and Frank J.)?

If you can help, we will send you a copy of the photo. The photo was taken when all the children were adults (late 1800s or early 1900s).

Hi Larry,
I have Nicholas Shroyer 1725-1789 formal name as John Nicholas Shroyer, which maybe should be mentioned in case someone may overlook this Shroyer if they are looking for Nicholas. I hope you hear from others, as I also have the children as John Adam, John Christian, John Jacob, John, David, Henry and Samuel. However, like you I do not know the names of John Christian and wife, Catharina Dorothy Rener grandchildren. Good Luck.
Dottie Himes-Shroyer Surname Group

I just pulled out two articles from the Adamsville Register dated May 20, 1890 that I think would serve as proof for DAR if you want to join under Phillip Shroyer. I joined under Israel Buker also. One article mentions Memorial Services and lists the soldiers buried at New Hope. Phillip Shroyer, Jacob Gaumer, and Edward Davis are listed as soldiers of 1776. I also have an article of local history about the first settler of the township. It says that he came from Bedford Co, Pa. He was in the Revolution and three of his sons were in the War of 1812. If you are interested in a copy of these, send me your email address and I will scan a copy for you. I also have a copy of an abstract Rev. war file that Marleen Shroyer sent me. It came from the digital archives of Pa. It states that he was in Capt. Youst Company the first 1/2 of the year 1781. If you go online into your DAR member site, you can probably pull up his record.
