Surnames: Shufflebarger; Graves
I'm searching for Shufflebarger relatives of my father, whose name was Harry David Graves. His twin brother was James Hiram Graves. I understand that they were adopted by the Shufflebargers after both their parents died. My grandmother was a Shufflebarger who lived in Illinois. She married Graves. I know there were other children but don't know all their names.
I was told of a Noah Graves, Bill, Joe and Simon Graves, brothers of the twins. All living around Harrisburg, Illinois.
My grandfather and grandmother homesteaded in Arkansas, somewhere along the White River...I don't know the year.
When the Civil War broke out they went back to Illinois to her folks. After the war they started back to the homestead. Somewhere along the route grandfather died, grandmother took the children and went back to her folks in Illinois.
After grandmother died the Shufflebargers adopted the twins (Harry David and James Hiram). When they were 9 years old they ran away from home and were not seen or heard from until they were grown up. They had been raised by some people by the name of Corbet(t) living in Missouri.
The twins married the Moreland sisters. James Hiram married Lucy Moreland and Harry David married Annie Robinson Moreland who was my mother. Any info appreciated.
